My No Spend challenge started yesterday. Recovering from major surgery both physically and fiscally. I'm on a No Spend until my savings account is back to fully funded. I look forward to your book ❤ (after the No Spend😂)

No Spendtember, No Buy-July, and Frugal February are my no buy months every year. I'm not a huge spender anyway but these 3 months are just the necessities and nothing else. Gets easier and easier every year : )

Agree, it seems to be getting easier as I see frugality as a stress reducer.

I do not have a mortgage, no debt, and I live off of SS alone now. I do not buy into consumerism anymore and have no-buy months (since last Nov) whereas I pay fixed expenses and prop/school/local taxes. My income is below the federal poverty line so I do not pay income tax.

Sounds like you’re doing a great job! Keep up the good work!

Wow you are on a tight budget, I hope you are able to get your necessities. Good for you in not buying into "consumerism" .

In May, I began "no-spend" on my scrapbooking supplies. I allowed myself to buy only necessities to enjoy my hobby. Glad to report after 12 weeks I've cut my spending down aprox. 85%. Plan to continue until my birthday in October and then re-evaulate.

I did a no spend on clothing 2 years leading up to moving and 7 years later still almost buy nothing. I did a no spend period in January and then it rolled into Feb and March. Once you do it, it seems second nature. ( 🇨🇦 ).

My forced no spend due to glitches with both jobs (1 ended & the others hours are cut in half). Income $120 last payday😢.. I'm ok though. Food storage, gas station rewards for gas discount & 1# free fresh food product (I got a banana, a potato & a small onion). It can be done.

I just went through my pick up grocery order and deleted some things I did not really need. My daughter’s wedding is coming up in May of 2025 and I am trying to save up and pay for it all before the trip. I spend time every morning just deleting all the emails I get from various places trying to sell me something. Sales are nice but resisting that sale is even better.

Good for you and huge congrats on your daughter’s wedding!!

I love the thought of lunch at home/coffee with friends - no eating out.

Well done on writing a book - that's really impressive!! I'm not a big spender but I'm on a 'buy no meat' adventure. My freezer is so full and I can't resist those short dated bargains so nothing from the freezer gets pulled out and used up. I'm being really disciplined and just keep reminding myself that the bargains will still be there in the future. So far so good - only lapsed once with a bargain chicken that was going to solve our weekend's fractured schedule. You are right in that doing such a challenge really opens your eyes, breaks bad habits and is quite liberating! Cheers from Oz!!

Thank you for this video, going to relook at my finances and give it a go. I need to rebuild my savings after a few spends, such as water pump blew, had to get a new water heater, 2 car services, car insurances and registration. So go next year I want to get the money in the bank and no more nasty surprises. By the way, I keep meaning to comment on the new hairstyle, it really is you and takes years off you, keep this one 😊

My oldest daughter is graduating from college in December and though I have money set aside for a grad trip for her and I, I would like to add to it. Hoping for an extra $400 by doing the no spend in October.

Awesome challenge; I will be looking to implement this in the fall/winter. During summer it’s so much easier not to spend because we’re doing lots of (free) outdoor activities and benefitting from the garden. Winter is harder, maybe due to boredom?

I feel like a complete chump spending money on anything I can get for free. And so I use ideas/resources like home cooking EVERYTHING I consume and the library (most of my entertainment that I can't get free on the internet) so as to avoid feeling like a chump. Luckily, I also see shopping as a chore and try to avoid it whenever possible (with the exception of grocery shopping.) So the idea of a no-spend month really doesn't resonate as beneficial to me. My biggest motivation for saving is being naturally driven to putting as much of my take home pay into savings as I possibly can each month so as to become more fincially secure.

I started slow once and a one week challenge, it was fine, however I was torn if gift cards were considered a no spend item ( I did not use them) but I’m curious?
@saraconklinfrozenpennies4 ай бұрын
I think it’s your game and you get to make the rules. I’ve said that using gift cards is fair game because you’re not spending your money. The same goes if your sister treats you to lunch.

@saraconklinfrozenpennies4 ай бұрын
Those are not within the boundaries of not spending. You have to pay your bills and get to work. A no spend is really for the areas you might overspend on. Like food, fun, entertainment, etc.
