I don't think of it as sass. I think of it as grace. The goal is to make the movements fluid and timed with the music. Even if you lack confidence or "sass", you can accomplish this by breaking down the movements and studying the timing and precision. Kind of like any dance, including ballet. Then, with practice comes confidence. 😊

I am considered overweight and I’m the fastest in my spin class. I’m stronger than my friends. Yet, gym staff treat me like I’m stupid or don’t understand fitness, and assume I don’t know form. I get criticized or asked “are you okay?” more than anyone in my fitness classes. After class I’ll say “this is what I was doing. Is that incorrect?” And I’ll usually get a response of “oh actually that’s pretty good, it just looks different because of your body type.” Exactly. It’s genetics. I eat healthy and workout all the time. I wish the world could just stop assuming things and treat others equally… I’m grateful you and other influencers are recognizing this - I’ve always felt like you have a good understanding of this and have never been judgmental in your videos. Thank you for the great videos, vibes, and community ❤

As a dancer who started in 2011 (and considerably late compared to my peers), i would say that as a brand new dancer, you're doing great!! Sass comes from confidence after really getting the moves to muscle memory, and then TRULY feeling the music 😊 In 30 days, that's fantastic work!! Loved the video :)

I 100% get what you're saying about the "dark side" of kpop overshadowing the artists. I find idols super inspiring. I often find myself jealous of them for being able to dedicate all of their time to practicing what they love to do, their hard work is an amazing thing to see! But whenever I bring it up with friends all they wanna talk about is their crazy diet and mistreatment. And while I am aware and hate that part about the industry (trust me when I say no one advocates for idols more than kpop fans) theres so much more to them that gets ignored. Ty for touching on that!
@idfwblurry
@idfwblurry 2 ай бұрын
The problem is that you are supporting an industry and aspiring to people who are abused and often mistreated to achieve their level of greatness.It is not healthy point blank period. People spend thousands to go their concerts etc, just reinforcing the abuse.
@JuneieBack
@JuneieBack Ай бұрын
The dark side and practicing go hand and hand. It is amazing to be able to dedicate all of that time but when that’s all you do it becomes toxic real fast. And that’s for anything in life
@foofieviolet
@foofieviolet Ай бұрын
@@idfwblurryyou're right, but do you think the western music industry is any different? Look at the abuse of Brittany Spears, Justin Bieber, The Backstreet Boys, 1D, the Spice Girls, the PussyCat Dolls, hell even Taylor Swift. Abuse goes on in the film industry, the ballet industry (and all dance forms), the theatre industry, the fashion industry, marketing and advertising, etc. Abuse is rampant in the arts in general, no matter what artform or where you are in the world. It just might look slightly different. If you consume any art then you just have to assume that someone was probably taken advantage of. KZbin's business model itself takes advantage of the creators who use it too.

Love it! As a former dancer who started out classically trained, one of the best tips I got was to finish every movement with the intention of making it 10% bigger than you feel it should be. So when you have a motion that involves reaching, make sure to focus on the “out”, not the “back in” and try to reach 5cms further than you think you can. The sass is a bit of ‘fake it til you make it’, but when you fully finish every movement explosively it makes you feel so much more empowered and you start to feel the sass taking over 😊

As someone with an ed in these spaces, kpop is insanely triggering on so many level and i see why so many account like this exist. I do feel bad for anyone stumbling into this and also the idols who are bought into that, most of them are definitely disordered too. I really appreciate you talking honestly about body types in sports. As someone who is overweight, one of the things that kept me from doing the sports I wanted to was thinking that I first had to look a certain way, rather than appreciating the things my body could do. It wasn't the only factor, but a significant one, that kept me from getting into team sports in High School. Now, 2 years past a significant injury, I am dealing with once again building myself up from the beginning, and it can feel really demoralizing to look at my body and think “I don't have the right body type to start X sport right now.” Even though that is counterintuitive, as any type of movement that I enjoy should be what I want to do! It's a good reminder that having fun while moving is way more important than looking “right” for the movement type. And that starting from the beginning and going slow and steady has advantages. This time I'm working from the inside out - so deep core stabilization (for example) to prevent future injuries before focusing on heavy workouts to quickly lose weight. Loved the video and you killed that dance!

I’m a triathlon athlete and you for sure have to build foundations before going hard. It took me seven years to get 265 deadlift. That’s twice my body weight lol. I didn’t start running marathons overnight. It took me five years to be able to run a marathon. The most important thing i would tell you is that proper technique is king. It will keep you from getting injured and will keep you working out longer. If you run make sure you know how to run properly. I was running wrong when i started and got hip pain. Proper technique feels a hell of a lot better. I recommend yoga for rest days to help keep you moving but also recover

You looked so much more comfortable and confident with the moves and I think that really helps you to be able to give that bit extra! I hope this doesn't come off the wrong way, but I think it would be great to see you try some latin style dances to help build that fluidity in your hips and even more sass! From an outside perspective - it seems like you don't feel the groove, despite knowing all the movements, kinda out of touch with your body. All this choreography is external, and you just desperately try to keep up, all stressed and not having fun in the process. I would recommend trying stuff like Body Groove channel does. I use those dance practices (?) as a stress relief and a tool in my anti-depression battle, but it might be quite helpful in finding that way to your body an "sass" - those are quite sassy.

I used to dance professionally, and the long rehearsal days are tough, and it is hours and hours working out, but we had a really responsible artistic director who encouraged us to fuel our bodies regularly (I used to eat 8-11 times a day). The focus is fuel, but this is difficult to teach. On the technical side, cardio is a great way to deplete blood glucose - so the intense hunger is due to that, imagine if you ran all day, same same but different.

You did great! Another perspective on the meal pics is that some nutritionists use these with clients to help with tracking. A super hippyish guy i know is doing it. And thanks for the poutine pic!

So appreciate that you paid for one on one instruction!! Too many influencers think filming group classes is totally fine and frankly it’s just rude as hell.

I am a person who is on the obese range due to autism and disordered eating. I started crying with you too girl. A tip to loving your body: take away the bra! Sounds weird but it works. Seeing your natural shape can help you gain confidence! At least it does for me.

Congratulations on filming your first dance cover! It's an incredibly intimidating thing to do (especially if you have no dance experience) and you did a great job :) If you ever want to try another dance, I think youd do a lot better with bright, cute styles than sassy ones (in kpop its called Girl Crush) Maybe something like Talk thay Talk by Twice, or something by New Jeans. You still need a bit of sass, but it's more about looking happy and bubbly, like you're enjoying yourself.

Love the appreciation you show for the hard work K-pop idols do and addressing the toxic aspects of the industry while not sensationalising it. Some of my fav K-pop content is watching behind the scenes videos of them recording their songs, practicing choreography, filming music videos, etc. because you can see how much work and energy they put into everything, like they are incredibly meticulous. I can't imagine doing weeks of preparation and promotion getting 2-3 hrs of sleep every day and still having the energy to perform, smile, entertain and connect with fans. Also one thing I'm jealous about when it comes to Korean beauty is how cheap facials are in SK, like if I could pay $30 for a facial I would go every week

You’re video is very interesting and I loved to see how you improved in dancing but I think you could have improved faster if the teacher the first week more focused on teaching you how to dance rather then teaching you a choreography. By doing that you would know better how to move and feel your body and have more confidence and the sass would come very naturally 😊

I agree, the reason blackpink can dance the choreo gracefully is they have learned the basic of styles like hip hop and jazz funk for many years

learned behavior considering most of them start starving since they were children in trainee programs :( furthermore, east asians tend to have higher visceral fat so they can have a lower overall body fat percentage compared to westerners yet still function somewhat normally despite being like 12% body fat. this ofc still has long-term adverse health effects and puts them at a higher risk for bone fractures/sprains, weakened immunity etc. and stimulants like nicotine, caffeine and other pharmaceutical stimulants are also common.

YOU KILLED IT KELTIE! You looked like you were having SO MUCH FUN in your final performance - which is the point! I really loved your confidence to try ballet and now this? You impress me more and more every day. I can not tell you how much you inspire me. I have started running, gone back to lifting weights, and even signed up for a pilates class. THANK YOU for all you do! You're making a difference in yourself and in others!
