I loved this video Keltie! I started going consistently to Barry's this year 2-3 times a week and also started my running journey back in February. I really enjoy the workout that Barry's has to offer and my location has some incredible trainers as well who make you want to come back again and again. Overall, have had a great experience and glad you have to! 😊I appreciate the honesty you have on the cons side especially when it comes to the lack of warm ups/cool downs they provide as well though, good to keep a balanced review haha

I guess the Dyson hair dryers aren't commercial-rated if they are breaking down or have reached their usage limit, and Barry's has to replace them (stop being cheap; Barry's, replace your broken stuff). Im curious of you're actual V02 number?! Its such a solid indication of longevity and health as we age, but the #s are base on the average person, so being 40 with a superior V02 max in ones age group , is comparing to the average person in that age group for example . But being 40 (or 50 etc) and having superior for a 20 yr old is actually superior.
@cmags05203 ай бұрын
Loved this! However I couldn’t help noticing the parallels between Barry’s and Orange Theory. Was OT a knockoff of Barry’s? How would you compare the two?
@JustTheWayWeLikeIt2 ай бұрын
Barry's is just floor and weights, OT has tread, weight circuit and row machine. You still get about as much cardio because of the row and rowing is a great movement. I'd say there's more of an emphasis on Zone 2 in OT because of the orange heart rate. Barry's more about vo2 max because it's more sprinting. So OT better for cario endurance training. The cardio split is different in every Barry's class which isnt a bad thing and you will get vo2 max and zone 2 from both. I just personally liked the instructors, people and overall vibes at Barry's compared to my local OT or F45. (F45 is just weight circuit and some classes have a cross fit type cardio element). The dark room and loud music I find very motivating. I will say you'll get more form correction at OT because there's less people in a class and OT has a screen demo-ing the weight movements (so does F45) and Barry's doesn't. I noticed the F45 instructors pay more attention to form correction, there's also multiple instructors per class so def more 1 on 1. F45 has more rest integrated into the class, Barry's there's no gaps but you're at least maxing the time working out in a short period of time. I also use Class Pass and my OT isn't on Class Pass and OT can be tough to cancel a membership. OT is a bit cheaper per class than Barry's too but not if you use ClassPass it's other way around. Different locations are all different prices so could be different where you are. You don't get anything from any of these classes you couldn't get in a gym for cheaper. But I definitely work out harder in the class than I would by myself and having a class booked motivates me and gets me in the door more often. OT has tracking stats built in so if you want to be able to track progress that's a plus. You'll get a killer workout and be sore from all of them but I can't do them more than twice a week because I need a lot of recovery from the cario/weight combo. And you will probably see faster/more change in your muscle building if you go to the gym. If your goal one class js to focus more on strength or cardio you should start with that thing in the class so you're more fresh for it. I also think if your goal is to lift heavy it's all free weights at Barry's so you could max out your hypertrophy training there and will plateau. I think you should try them all to see what you personally like, I just ended up liking Barry's the best and it ended up allowing me to build confidence and experience with working out so that I was eventually able to go to the gym myself.

Hey Keltie! How does the actual workout compare to an orangetheory workout? I know the vibes are different but what about the workout content?
@KeltieOConnor3 ай бұрын
Very similar, but I feel Barrys leans a bit more "intense". OTF has more walking options and you do a lot more things on your own vs. Barrys you're doing everything as a group for the most part. Actually OTF has more Equitment so you may get a better variety in terms of exercise. But I find the trainers at Barrys more experienced personally, which can result in better exercise selection. BUT thats not always the case, it's hard to say 100% because every OTF & Barrys studio I go to is a little different. Hope that helps! At the end of the day both are super similar, it just comes down to honestly the vibes you prefer lol

The Oribe switch out is SO frustrating, esp the missing body lotion. And WHAT IS UP WITH THE GRITTY HAND SOAP NOW? + for those of us who shower there, they got rid of the plastic bags for our sweaty clothes :( If it wasn't for the fact I have the corp membership rates (which they still keep increasing the prices), I'd have dropped last year and am seriously considering leaving if anything else changes (or just buying classes when they're on sale).

I pay £18.99 per month for unlimited fitness classes at several venues (some international standard) throughout the city, plus gym use, swimming, reductions on things like ice skating or court hire, and one free PT session a month. Plus it’s a lovely community, plus the classes range from 8-25 people so instructors know you and are super inclusive. I have a complex disability that is sooo accepted!

It seems irresponsible for them to have newer-to-fitness people working out in a dark room. Trainers should be able to easily see and correct bad form and explain what to look for in your own good form to prevent injuries.
@courtneyk452715 күн бұрын
Loved Barrys until they shortened the classes to 50 mins from 1 hour. After warmup and cooldown, you only get ~20 mins on the tread and weights. Definitely not enough training time for the price now IMO.

Speaking of prices and how people afford to go everyday lol.
