When Daniel Kottke was dropping acid in the dorms of Reed College, he was often tripping with one of the most creative minds of the last century: Steve Jobs. Laurie Segall reports.

The reggae background music for this segment is inappropriate and demonstrates a lack of understanding of what the LSD experience was like for Daniel Kottke and Steve Jobs. Not a huge deal, but makes CNNMoney look out of touch. That said, Laurie Segall is great as usual.
@3-methylindole7304 жыл бұрын
I don't see how the reggae music makes their experience appear more trivial. What's the thing about reggae? Since reggae is sort of a music of the psychedelic kind, it matches quite good here, maybe not as good as San Francisco 60s music but it does the job. Reggae is great and their experience was valuable.

@fattysun11212 жыл бұрын
I’ve done psychedelics about 4 times. I am not able to do as you described
@schr4nz Жыл бұрын
No, psychedelics are like taking very intensive short courses about the things you love and the things you fear, if LSD does anything, it helps you realize things you knew all along, and in that sense, it should help you to prioritize things you care about. Whether or not you follow through is an entirely separate matter, but it has painted the picture for you Also, they can be just really fun experiences too

To call Steve Jobs "one of the most creative minds of the last century" is a vast overstatement. He saw trends and new technology other people developed, put it in a nice package and sold it. That's basically it. He might have been one of the best CEO's of the last century, but one of the most creative? Hardly...

Yeah, i think so too. Doesn't take a genius to comercialize
@Hrodric6 жыл бұрын
Yeah skill for the "explorers", tho no skill as guy that develops technology. No matter what you say, because for me technologies, shoudn't come like with small changes and little improvements. Imagine, if we worked together with all the top of the top knowledge and resorses to make a cell phone, it should come with the very best of all tech possible, the highest everything. Not make minimums. And should be available for all, not for commercial purposes, but instead for mankind development so we can be the very best versions of ourselves. And that would go for all things in life, and all should be free, what couldn't be produced by machines should be shared in work hours for all the 7 billion people so, each would get just tiny portion of obligation, and therefor plenty of benefit for all. and there would be no commercializes as everyone would be responsible for the development. Development itself would set the rules, and demands. Because in my community we would have the responsibilities of important tasks taken care by all, and all would know their importance, probably making like 1 to 2 hours a day of boring respectability, and the rest, to be used as each pleased, development.. you could go to restaurants and not having to pay, to have the best kind of tech as well. And have your time to do hippy stuff have fun, not struggle with pay your bills. I mean there's plenty, and plenty people to unity and make something better, the problem is not help the problem is good will. Yeah i cannot think for all, and i do not make anything for that either, i'm a hypocrite. Fuck it. Got to start somewhere, might as well be in dream. High tech society, with all knowledge freely available, no lobby, no regulations, no patents, no monopoly whatsoever, even less when it comes to intellectual property. Yeah no intellectual property, just free all. free schooling, just free schooling, plenty of schooling no private schooling

Some people take LSD once and have such a meaningful experience that they don't see the need to take it again. Personally, I love the symbiosis of magic mushrooms and the brain but I don't feel the need to take them more than once a year maybe. I can definitely see Steve Jobs having a few LSD trips and then rarely or never doing it again. That's not uncommon at all.
