What was amazing about Jobs is that he genuinely cared and wanted to make great products. That was his simple secret. He also had taste, knew what he liked, and had the vision. Vision and knowing their products is something so many CEOs lack. His presentations were simply, amazing! Almost no one can combine bring professional, and at the and time so casual on stage.

The transition of body language after the question about Java and open doc, is I think a him really going through those stages of acknowledging, seeing what roll he plays within the company. Within that role it doesn’t make sense, even more than that he could physically not know more about everything than all the people within his company, specialised in their respective disciplines. And I love to see him realising that and taking back control, by giving himself time to go through these phases even in a high dress environment in front of a big crowd. Right on the outset, I can tell you are looking at the completely wrong metric about what defined Jobs's success. The thing that others perceived as distortion of reality was natural to Jobs himself. That is what always happens when you very badly want to do something and you are convinced that you are right. You just feel it, before you put any net of calculus on top. And, instead of trying to define it with the outside metrics like body language and the way he talked, maybe ask yourself what is it that you really really want from this world? A moon from the sky? Go and take it, god damn it! Don't listen to what other people say or if you may to do so. If you want to kiss somebody for the first time, you need at least to try before asking first, right? Otherwise how much of the sincere feeling is it? And then, if you are sincere enough -- reality answers.

If I was SJs, I would have planted that fellow there with that question. This way he shows that he can handle adversity on demand. The questionnaire even looks like a disgruntled software engineer. Think on it. Of all the people he picked, it happen to be one with a long, specific and two part question? This is how ahead of the game Jobs was. He would never have allowed the possibility of a fumble after having returned. The stakes are too high. This is not reality distortion. the famous questioner at the conference, which starts at 4 mins onwards here... "here it comes" i think...Jobs was ousted from Apple long time back. Apple wasn't doing anything much under Sculley. Jobs was of course dying to be back there. And he lobbied and moved levers from behind. Obviously, he had enemies inside and outside apple. This german-looking questioner at the conference...I think this man has got to be sent by those enemies of Jobs. AND JOBS KNEW IT! He had already prepared for these kinds of questions. Not the exact questions, but the domains. So that, if a related question was asked, he'd be adequately prepared. I think jobs was fully prepared for these kinds of scenarios.
