In 1975 I moved to Mad beach and went to college down there. My college job was the Candy kitchen and the old Brown Derby . I actually lived in the apartment behind the Candy kitchen. But the old white bench out front held special memories for me and my family who came to visit. My Grandfather came down to check in with me as a surprise visit and we took pictures sitting on that bench (1976) then years later my younger brother came down and we got pictures on that same spot . ( I lost my brother a few years ago.)I moved back to NY and after that (40 years later) I brought my son down and we took pictures on that old bench and it was a blast from the past to walk inside the Candy kitchen and it looked just like it did back in the 70's! I hope they will be able to recover. this breaks my heart. It;s a special place to many !
Ай бұрын
I lived in one of the apartments behind the candy Kitchen as well! (2015) If you walk through the wooden swinging door to get you on the back property where the inter coastal is. It is the third and last one on the end. It is right in front of a boat slip. I actually found this you tube video because I wanted to see if I could find a video that would show me what my old apartment looked like. When I lived there I use to wonder what would happen if it was a major hurricane by being so close to the inter coastal on one side and the beach on the other side of the street. Thats probably why you are on here as well, huh?

@@laurenl3785 Thanks! But it isn't the end of the world for me. Yes I am lucky to have Hud Vash to step up to help with my rent. I was protected and now they have to release me and I am moving over to Section 8. I recently learned that the housing is so hard to get into here in Tampa that I am fortunate that they have a program to help me get my own home. I have to go through a bunch of classes and I am checking it out. A 220K mortgage is about the same as my rent. Instead of paying a landlord my voucher can be applied to a mortgage. I was a Realtor in life. So this is good news for me. They don't allow for condos or trailer parks either. There are some new homes in the area that will suit my needs. I need a shower stall since I am unable to walk and climb over the bathtub style keeping me in self sufficiency. When it comes time to mow the grass All I need a an electric sit down lawn mower. There are a million ways to accomplish ones goals. All I need to do is apply it. A word of wisdom. Stay in the solution and not the problem. Best Regards.

I don't blame the owner at all for not having flood insurance, if they did they would probably have to charge $20 for a small cone! Insurance companies pulling out, those that can get insurance are paying $12,000-$15,000 per year, several “one in a thousand year” storms, condo fees skyrocketing. Some serious soul searching needs to be done to see if parts of the Southern states should be abandoned. While homes can be built to withstand category 5 storms, it is the water that probably causes the most damage. Also, so many companies are laying off staff and who knows if they will return.

Your comments continue to illustrate that you have no clue how things work. You think magick takes place and things just fall into place. You aren't even considering that small businesses that barely made it through covid were only hanging by a string before this even happened. And now? I don't know how old you are, but you should know better than to believe in magick and fairy's. The real world operates quite differently than how you wish it operated. The answer I am most looking forward to is your explanation on how it's going to work with baristas who can't do anything but make a latte suddenly doing construction work, carpentry, electrical work, roofing etc. I will hold my breath awaiting an explanation. Lol! By the way, as I have been saying for several years, young people will NOT make it if they don't figure out the game fast. Humanity will die out. There literally isn't even enough of them who can keep society going. From electrical companies to streets, food factories, etc. They only know how make a latte and that's about it. So all that money spent on gender studies, tree equity, shellfish equity, Studying japanese quail on drugs might not be money well spent. Bring back no earmarks on Bills and we'd be farther ahead. It's not just spending too much, it also about spending on stupid things....
