@@SamuelObafemi there's a little demo of it in the announcement video - hard to tell how it compares to Gyroflow, but should find out in a couple of days, as they said the next beta should be out then Also curious if the updated Resolve stabiliser supports non-BM gyro data

I imagine their next evolution of this camera will be a BMPCC8K. So I may return to the camera around then. For now, for what I do, GH6 works great.

Solid thoughts. I’m still rocking the OG 6K and it’s great. I can add better IRND and a tiny 5” monitor along with the battery grip and it’s golden. Hats off to Blackmagic for trying to hook their customer base up. Who know? Maybe they’ll give us a 6K or 8K box one of these days.

This is kind of an good deal depending on how one shoots. Basically if one is an EVF shooter, then the new 6k is probably the better camera, because one only needs an ND system, and given the internal ND's of the 6k Pro typically have to be supplemented in order to work for some outdoor shooting scenarios, the loss of those might not be that big a deal. Thus one can save close to $500 if they prefer to shoot with an EVF; however, if one is a high bright monitor shooter, then the 6kpro is by far the better over all deal, because one doesn't need the EVF and in many situations doesn't need extra ND either. AKA both are pretty much the same core price. What wasn't talked about here is quite possibly the single coolest update to ALL the pocket cameras , and that is the new GYRO Post stabilization similar to Sony's Catalyst Browse, but built into DaVinci Resolve. THIS is going to be a HUGE game changer for certain shooting situations, particularly if they can have the gyro motion vectors available to both Fusion and Resolves post motion blur. I can't wait to see if they are the first company to deal with this feature correctly.

They need to come out a new camera with brand new sensor. This 6k sensor was about 3 years old now. 6k was announced in 2019.

I'll get G2 instead of Pro. I don't need internal NDs. They are more appropriate to film sets where you have lots of control. I find the ND steps are too great, ie. I still need variable ND anyway. I think everything else on the cameras is the same. Same screen. £410 less. Still want EVF and battery grip. Very pleased. Software update seems very significant. Esp. gyros. I will spend the £410 savings on Latin American street food and ale

I think this is a step 'backwards'! €500 (or USD), doesn't make much difference compared to the 6K Pro, just because it doesn't have the ND Filter and is slightly smaller. I keep my Pocket 4K, with a Metabones SpeedBooster and a Sigma 18-35mm with a Tiffent VNDF (sorry for the publicity). As for the 'Flip Screen', I found a solution, which allows me to use my cell phone (Huawei Mate 20 Pro) as a monitor. The option is simply fantastic and, with less than €50(USD), I have what I need, instead of spending a few hundred €'s(USD's) on monitors. Thanks, keep up the great work.

I mean now we have a tilt screen and a bigger size camera 🤷🏻‍♂️ that’s not a upgrade if you screen is still 500 nits and you do need to use ND with your Matte box or lens. Yes, same price, new features 👏🏻👏🏻 great but that’s not a upgrade from the 6k if you still need a bright monitor at that point the tilt screen 📺 s pretty much useless. I use a nauticam underwater housing for my 6k and now I can use the g2 cause is the sabe as the regular 6k but bigger lmao. Good call BM

It would have been really cool if they had given it an RF Mount and a box shape. It would also be cool if they made their own approved media/approved the T7 as the Samsung T5 is getting harder to find and we need to be able to get media.

I don’t understand why everyone keeps talking about a cube. Bm have stated their product development pipeline a million times and couldn’t be clearer. They make all this stuff themselves so the only cost effective way to release a new camera is to incrementally improve a sensor of software but fundamentally recycle the same bits from an existing camera. All they are doing here is retiring the older 6k body production line and transferring if to a camera they already make hence the price. It was the same with the broadcast g2 and the 12k. As much as everyone hates both the bmcc and ursa body designs get use to it because that’s what blackmagic have a tonne of and can knock out for their insanely low prices. That is their business model. Please stop talking about a cube. It’s not going to happen. Thx

There is no work put into this camera the reason they’re making this is because they’re gonna shut down the production lines on the 4K and so they’re not making any more of those style body so they’re just only making this body. This is what companies do when they want to change their moulds. They probably have a bunch of 4Ks sitting in a warehouse so they don’t need to manufacture anymore bodies so every time to make a 6K there’s an inefficiency because they have to go back to the old moulds so if they just change everything to the same body mould then they don’t need to switch production lines.
