Also even though they can be very expensive a saltwater UV sterilizer could help prevent problems like this. They are used to help prevent outbreaks of ich or other parasites and they can eliminate or reduce some different types of bacteria that can be harmful. Just a note though is that UV sterilizers deal with the stuff that's in the water column itself as the aquarium water is pumped through the UV. So UV sterilizers are better at prevention or to take care of cloudy water from bacterial blooms. The bacterial infection or parasites that could be on a crab or a fish itself wouldn't really be affected.

Use chlorhexidine it’s an anti fungal and anti bacterial. It is safe to use on your crab. Just dilute it in some clean water and apply it the same way you were applying the iodine. You can buy this by the gallon as a concentrate in any farm and feed store. I dilute mine in a spray bottle and put about 3/8” amount of the concentrate in the 32oz bottle and shake then use. Hope this helps.

I was curious if Augmentin or Doxycycline would be useful, but I would be concerned about a possible Fungal Infection as a result because those two are known to cause Thrush. Augmentin is a powerful direct Antibacterial, allowing the immune system to recognize the Bacterial Infection so the White Blood Cells are able to fight off the invasive bacteria; meanwhile, Doxycycline is a powerful Bacterial Growth Inhibitor.

If it is the shell rot though the crab is likely has sepsis and that is very difficult to recover from.

This might not be caused by a bacteria in her carapace. It could be that the tank temp isn't right, the salinity isn't where she'd like it. You've now got insane levels of iodine in your tank from rubbing her down with it. The water looks a bit cloudy so maybe your tank isn't fully cycled or properly equipped. What do you keep your main levels at? What volume is the total system? How long since it was started? what filtration are you using? what salt mix? Is your tank as cloudy as it looks? Regular 20 percent water changes and monthly filter maintenance, as well as using a gravel vacuum once a month (half the tank at a time) will keep the water clean and keep her shell healthy. Also please make sure you check the calcium levels in the water to ensure she is able to molt. API master test kit is a great kit if you follow the instructions to a T so you can stay on top of your water quality at home. Aquarium Co Op has a fantastic video about the nitrogen cycle in aquariums and is super easy to understand. Make sure you remove any uneaten foods after 30 mins in the tank also as it polutes the water further.

He quite literally didn’t try he’s not even taken her out of the infected water, he’s made no effort from everything I’ve seen to help her, he doesn’t even give her proper structures I think he put one low quality rock in there one time said she didn’t like it and stopped bothering

Take and put her in a "healing" tank.Fresh water.Fresh filter.Fresh EVERYTHING.Change water EVERYDAY. Maybe even take her to a veterinarian. If that sounds crazy, veterinarians see aquatic life as well :) You treating Blue is NOT HELPING her when she's residing in the same infected water everyday. Veterinarian could possibly give you a stronger medication to save her life

Not to criticize but why didn't you start treating the shell rot as soon as you saw it?
