I think what makes many beginners give up on yoga is experienced yogees telling you to focus on your thoughts and breaths without telling you that initially you will be uncomfortable physically. It's impossible to think about anything but getting out of that uncomfortable position. It is only when the pose becomes comfortable that breathing and other spiritual dimensions of yoga can be put into place easily.

Its all a practice. For me personally I always focus on my breath first and go into the pose as much as I can without it being too uncomfortable and distracting me from my breath. Focusing on your breath and being mindful is a practice in itself. At first it will be difficult because the mind isn't use to it but as you practicing putting your focus there thats when it will get easier. I would say focus on the breath and being present/ settling into poses more then doing a pose perfecting or as deeply as possible. The spiritual aspect can always be present no matter where you are in your practice. Yoga at its core is a form of meditation. People give up on yoga because they put most their focus on their ability to do the physical poses.

@@mantraofthemind6610 Yes but every single yoga class I have taken start with a few moments of breathing then into your first pose. At that point your mind automatically switches thinking about how uncomfortable you are in that pose and is screaming to be released. Your breathing rate is nowhere on the brains radar. So frustrated beginners just give up as they can't stay in for example the downward dog and not focus on getting up from that position. But thanks for your video. I enjoyed it.

I have to agree. The beginning for me was incredibly hard because I would see other people who tried yoga talk about how calm and serene they’d feel and I just could not understand it because the only thing I’d feel is tired, uncomfortable and very unmotivated. Instead I tried Pilates to get myself started since it does incorporate some Yoga moves. It’s also not as mental as Yoga. Then I moved on to basic 10 minute yoga practices (thank you Apple Fitness+). I still struggle, but now I can appreciate the breathing and meditation now that I kind of know what I’m doing. Now granted, this has only happened in the last couple months, so I’m still very much a beginner, but I really really love it!!

this is incredibly inspiring, I want to change my lifestyle for my mental health and to be happy of who I am. this is giving me so much motivation to start, I’m going to start the challenge tomorrow and document it. I hate who I am as a person, I have struggled so much for the last 2 years with it and I’ve had enough! I can’t wait to properly love myself, I can’t wait to change myself into someone I will love. 🤍

We gotta love ourselves the way we are now and not wait. :) the point of loving ourselves is to love ourselves unconditionally 🤍 I know it can be tough at first, but love is the answer; it’s both the door & the key. ✨

This is such a great video. You’ve said a lot of the things that I feel since I’ve been practicing. I’ve been doing yoga now for about two months and I LOVE IT! I begin and end my day with it and I couldn’t be happier. From one yogi to another Namaste’

thank you for sharing your story! don't know if I could do EVERYDAY but you inspire me to try and reach my goal of 7 days.... this week. And then I'll set a more realistic goal of 3-4 days Also, it's never too late to start. I started at 45. It has been the best decision I"ve ever made for myself and general well being

Hi! I would like to know when you practise every day how do you choose the poses you do each day? For me, it is another project to find out what to practise. Thank you for your answer.

Hi! Personally I just listen to my body. Sometimes its a very slow fluid flow and other times I do more intense poses. If you're new to yoga I would watch guided videos until you have a good understanding of alignment and postures! :)

Am glad you feel better, thanx for sharing.. do you mind sharing the yoga practices you did in the beginning of your journey? am about to start yoga and i want to start with surya namskar.. any advices?

So glad you're starting to get into yoga! Surya namskar is a great way to start as it's more gental. It is a bit repetitive so I would try a number of dif practices. Yin, hatha, beginner vinyasa and ashtanga! I would suggest watching yoga with Adrianne for beginner vids!

You could practice yin and restorative practices on your period and it would actually be very beneficial for balancing your hormones!
