So after taking a few hot yoga classes I decided to challenge myself to take a class every day for one month- in this vid I share a little bit about that and some of the benefits I've experienced :)

Damn girl! You are pretty advanced for a beginner! What I love about yoga is that everyone has natural strengths and flexibilities and it’s really not about comparing yourself to others. A quote I really love is “practice, and all is coming.” Don’t worry about the “result” of achieving a certain pose or whatever- just show up on your mat and the consistency will bring results you never anticipated!

Yoga teacher here! If you've taken a dozen classes and know the names and general shapes of basic poses, you're not a beginner anymore.

She's reading from a sheet of paper. She didn't know the poses off the top of her head. And the number of classes doesn't classify what level of yoga you're in. You can take a ton of yoga classes and still be considered a "beginner." She probably just means the level she's on in terms of poses.

In several videos I saw you saying that you are not doing anything in your life for now. But you are a successful youtuber. It takes a lot of work to create something big and you are doing it well. Great job!

i suppose I've felt my youtube channel was successful since before i even had 1k subs because i enjoyed doing it and it was benefitting other people.. but if you mean success in terms of financial stability... I'm not quite there yet hahah. and 100k subs is still considered a small channel. i think i would feel like I'm doing more if i put more effort into my videos but i don't so i don't feel super fulfilled by them because i just don't think they're just not the quality i would prefer them to be :)

@@AnnasAnalysis I'm sure you will get to many more milestones in subscribers. I hope you carry on benefitting people. Also hope you find your calling outside of youtube because that will help you avoid being drawn too deeply as YT is another form of social media that is fundamentally fickle and judgemental and the more subscribers you have, the more dangers it will pose. You are however remarkably knowledgeable and stable emotionally so I'm sure you will work it out!

Excellent video thank you, I've been doing yoga for 18 months, my only motivation was flexibility to slow down the aging process, but here are some additional benefits which surprised me: Space awareness, coordination, improved discipline, burning calories, quicker reactions, increased strength of body & mind, better reflexes, feeling good about yourself, new friendships with a wonderful quality of people. That was a great quote at the end, it's very fitting to the positive effects of consistently practicing yoga.

I to have started yoga except I go to a class at 5:30am everyday and it has definitely made a big impact on me both physically and emotionally. The yoga that we do is called lava yoga so they humidify the room to either 75 or 100 degrees you sweat like crazy and it helps transition into the poses more eloquently. I deal with severe anxiety and this has been the one thing that helps it. I find myself being more positive and energetic plus I am gaining strength and muscles which is a first for me and that makes me really proud.

I've been so much more energized too, and it's due to a new move allowing me to have the time to pursue my interests. Some include beginners yoga like you, as well as gardening and other self-sufficient things like hand washing mine and my husband's laundry, no dishwasher, and scratch cooking most of our food. I feel like I'm becoming alive on another level. I hope you post more yoga videos! :)

It sounds like that yoga class you took as a kid was Ashtanga-based since there was focus on sequence and repetition. I too love yoga and have tried a number of different classes at my local studio. It's such an amazing practice to take on!

Very interesting, thank you for the insight! I'm glad you enjoyed the experience! From a sustainability standpoint, the thought of hot yoga in cold areas makes me a bit uncomfortable. Of course there are some people with conditions that truly benefit from it to a high degree. Other than that, it has a similar vibe to me like people here in Germany wanting strawberries in January or Saudi Arabians wanting a snow dome in the desert: very wasteful, unnecessary luxuries.
@AnnasAnalysis
@AnnasAnalysis 5 жыл бұрын
Lisa Behrens that’s definitely true. But I think you have to realize that everyone has wasteful luxuries. We all do things that we know aren’t good for the environment... going to a regular yoga class could still be considered a wasteful luxury because I don’t need to go to one but when I do I’m using gas in my car to get there.
@bened22
@bened22 3 жыл бұрын
Heating a room up also can't be THAT wasteful compared to a lot of the other waste that's happening everyday. We all have to choose what we are passionate about and where we want our waste to go.

My oldest sister, who's like totally healthy and super active physically fit, encourages me to do yoga. I literally had to start stretching last week since I'm noticing like CVI looking freckles or something that I thought was sand flea bites... though I'm thinking since the right side was swelling starting a few weeks back due to ELINT assault and processed foods, must be edema (for sure by depression testing) and CVI (guessing... best to keep up the stretching and high potassium and barely any sodium. I checked your channel out since the Van build was in my feed... though found there are a few videos that have been showing up. Thanks for the health reminders! You even sort of look like my oldest sister... Wisconsin... might even be a distant relative maybe? Take care, be safe and thanks for sharing!

Great video! I've been doing yoga pretty much every day since the beginning of the year as well. I have been doing mostly yoga with adriene videos as I don't really have the money for a yoga studio membership haha. My biggest challenge is upper body strength which I really have never had a lot of. I struggle doing poses such as chattaranga to up dog, crow, etc. Do you have any advice for building upper body strength to get the most out of my yoga practice?
@AnnasAnalysis
@AnnasAnalysis 5 жыл бұрын
yess thats awesome!! back when i first started, my chaturanga was basically high plank to belly flop. probably a month after i started going consistently i was able to hole low plank for like a second hahah... but the only thing i can think of that might be helpful advice is that when I'm doing poses like warrior 1 or crescent lunge, i put my hands on my hips or in prayer which keeps them from getting tired out as quickly so you could try that to have more arm strength throughout the class!
@katezel
@katezel 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Heather! I still can't do that transition, but I noticed that paying attention to the poses helped me a lot in the past weeks. for instance when you are in downward dog, try to not sink in your shoulders, but push away from the ground with your arms to create a straight line: back - neck - arms. you can bend your knees if it's more comfortable.this will also help to build strength and muscle in your arms. hope I managed to explain it ok , but basically pay attention to the form.😊 and practice, practice, practice.

Isnt Yoga a new age spiritual practice?
@aidanjohnwalsh2129

I quit 'doing yoga' because asana is a modern fixation that belies the much deeper philosophical foundations and pays mere lip service to the ultimate goal of spiritual practice.
