My kids asked me to tell them a bedtime story tonight. I asked them what it should be about. My daughter said that it should be about a cow. So I told her a story about a little cow with a sore hoof. When I got to the part about the sore hoof my daughter said, “and the hoof GP came to help her!” I told about how Graeme and Craig came with the crush. And then after I described trimming her hoof my daughter said, “ohh, she’s gonna need a block for that!” 😂😂😂 so congratulations! You now have kids’ bedtime stories about you!

I’m 73yrs.old and I live with my daughter and her family on a hobby farm. We have sheep, a pasture pig, a goat, a goose, ducks and chickens. Another daughter also lives here. My daughters and two adult children take care of the animals. I sit and crochet and watch them from the dining room window. We have beautiful mountains behind us. It’s all picturesque and very peaceful. I sit and watch you care for your cows. We don’t have any cows, though my daughter wants some. When the animals get sick my family stays up all night watching them if it’s needed. It’s good to see people raise and care for animals. My daughter always wanted to live on a farm. Not me. I’m a city girl from Dallas, Tx. Living on a farm was never part of my plan. BUT living here in the mountains (I used to hate them, too) on a small hobby farm and I have NEVER been HAPPIER. I like watching your show.

That final shot is a great example of the hoof minus the bottom layer. You have the wall horn, and you can make out the corium with the thinnest layer of new horn, other than the sore spot. The outside and inside claws give you good visual comparison of internal and external anatomy, IMHO. Great trim Graeme.

When you’re working on such a sore area, might it be possible to spray the exposed part with a numbing agent (like the topical numbing that a dentist puts on your gums before the needle) to make the trim less painful for her?

I’ve been watching for a while and occasionally remember my dad milking cows at our small farm, and you saying how curious cows are. Apparently when was around 2 1/2 years old ( mid 1950s) I was just as curious and walked under the fence to where the cows were. I must have gotten a bit frightened and got under a hay rake and the cows surrounded me under the hay rake and I had to be rescued. I heard that story a few times.😊
