Brooks reminds me so much of our great niece at that age. All that banging doesn’t even phase her. Our niece and her husband had box seats at the hockey games. Those hockey players would hit that plexiglas right in front of our seats. I had her standing up on the little ledge to place your drinks on. Bam, boom, crash and drinks and popcorn going everywhere. The only person or thing that didn’t spill or jump was our great niece. She was so accustomed to it with her ear protectors she never looked up or even jerked! I almost jumped over the concrete rail a couple of times! The players loved her. They’d stop and wave after a hit and she’d laugh and wave back. She got lots of team and individual t-shirts sent to the box. She also got a ride on the Zamboni. Amazing what kids that age can adapt to! I too am sorry you had to let that beautiful male Bison go but there was no option. I pray he does well at his new home and isn’t too much to handle. Things are looking great Dusty!!

What a pity, Dusty. I can not lie about this, but he is the most magnificent bison of all of them. He would have been a great breeder bull! When my dad was a small boy, he watched the first attempt to ship bison from the bison range in Montana. They had reinforced cattle cars, and a small herd in a corral. The lead bull charged up the ramp, lowered his head, hit the side of the cattle car and kept going out the other side, followed by the rest of the herd ... right back to the range.

You are making connections and memories that will warm your heart, make your eyes water, and your throat close off with pride and love. Gotta be THE best feeling in the world. Keep at it!! You are banking happiness. I did get one chortle there. When the bison were all headed down the chutes and suddenly turned around and went back. You were right there IN the chute and you just "let" em pass!! LOL Personally, "I" would have been two counties away if those monsters came at me that fast!! I really enjoy watching all you do. I’m surprised your gates and fencing aren’t mangled up. We had guardrail corrals that were 8’ high where we sorted and worked the animals into a squeeze chute. If the bison could see through a gap in the corral, they would try to climb through the smallest opening. I had a mature cow jump over a 7’ high fence that I was behind. I’ll never forget looking up at her hairy belly as she soared over me. Then the fear I felt realizing I had no protection if she decided to turn and charge at me. These wild natured creatures deserve a lot of respect and you should never fully trust them. I have broken my thumb giving vaccinations to the calves, been knocked down and my head stepped on by a yearling, my husband was tossed 10’ by a 2 year old bull that needed vet attention, and a few other scary moments. They handle very differently than cattle. They get very stressed out in the process and express it by panicky behavior. So give them an exit that you want them to take and patiently wait for them to think about it without rushing them into a panic. Stay safe.

This video was done some time ago, as Big Joe was already moved to the new property. I like the idea that you sold the Bull to someone who is starting a Bison business. Hope they know what they are doing. I sure hate to see him hurt in any way. But Big Joe and Dunbar wins hands down if you can only have two bulls. How is Lumpy? Haven't seen any updates on him. You also had issues going with Popcorn's mother, How is she doing? And the others from the Texas 16 that needed your immediate attention. How are they?

I grew up in Houston Texas up until 2010 I use to love going to the park and looking at the Buffalo in the park. I remember the big bull they had there. I think they called him Thunka or Tunka. He was awesome I use to talk to him. I love the soul capturing eyes of the big males and the sweet shy eyes of the females. They sold the buffalo and the park seems so dead now. I often wonder who got them and how are they doing. I hope they are some where on an large open range sanctuary where they will just live their lives out in peace.
