Just by the way it's written: "I sigh", "I mutter", "I clench my fists" etc. This is NOT the language you use when retelling an event that happened to you. For instance, are we supposed to believe the sister Jessica would try to pretend to be pregnant in social media to make it believable that Lily is her daughter? She's already 2 years old! She's already planning to adopt her on false grounds that her mom is a drug addict and will therefore lose custody, so why pretend to have a baby bump for social media? Makes no sense. Another thing that doesn't make sense if the fact she was being drugged but never realized, what kind of drugs was she slipping on the food?

"Forgiving" is a really big blanket term. I would be mad as hell, and eventually- when the sharp sting of betrayal simmers down - I could probably understand *why* she did it ... I might even eventually in the far future begin to empathize with the emotional desperation that drove her to do this... but forgiving? Jess wouldn't be allowed in Lily's life for as long as possible. I would tell Lily (when she's old enough) how her sad desperate aunt tried to steal her and that she shouldn't go with her if Jess ever shows up. What I mean is, you can empathize on why someone did something, but still not forgive them, and CERTAINLY make sure to never forget it.

Something similar kind of happened with me After my father passed away my Aunt called Child Protective services and tried to start a case to prove i was unfit to care of my children. The worker that came to interview me and my children automatically said all is okay and squashed the case. Another Year goes by and the same Aunt and her husband refused to return my children to me from a summer vacation visit. It took the father of my 2 oldest children, and my having to drop everything, quit my job and move back to my hometown to regain custody of my children. From there, there was a custody battle in court, but they had no legal grounds to sue for custody of any of my children, I don't drink, or do drugs, and I provide for all my children. It took several years, of animosity and resentment, but I now speak with my Aunt again, (now that all my children are grown) but we are not as close as we were when I was growing up or when my father was with us.
