In this game, actually, a beginner player is considered to have a score of 2000 points or even above 2500 points. Players start with an initial score of 1500 points. The top players, known as jupao, have scores higher than 5000 points, with the highest reaching over 6000 points. Jupao holds the record for the longest winning streak of 269 games.

Their Chinese interface is not so buggy, maybe the English interface is not finished yet and the server is too far away from you. I have two accounts there, at the beginning of this year I was in the top 10 on one account (about 5000 points) and top 20 on the other, yet I'm only a master in Geoguessr😅. That round loading time would infuriate me. Some of the options look interesting, but that loading time is a non-starter for me. Even just going there, with google translate on, google said it couldnt load it because the site was too slow. I also am not a big fan of the idea of signing up for an account with a Chinese company that wants my phone number.

I guess I can finally play China. Gonna play it while it is up because I'm not actually sure if this type of game is legal in China cuz flight sims using real life locations are banned in China. The Chinese maps does have Taiwan on it (go figure), but it is actually very easy to tell because it says "Google" instead of "Baidu" on the copyright tags. Baidu does have Hong Kong imagery but not Macau. Update: Kinmen counts as part of a mainland province and I just got trolled lol

I'm American but have lived and worked in mainland China for over a decade. You just need a VPN to play and buy Geoguessr which works decently, although it can slow the internet down (so I rarely play competitive, although I did make it to the Champion division). This game is fun to see, but it's depressing to once again see that Chinese socialist map with the red dotted line showing how much of the South China Sea is 'theirs' (right up to the Philippines and Vietnam), and of course Taiwan being claimed (the Marxist brainwashing on that subject here is very intense); other maps and globes are illegal here.
