Thanks as always for following your instincts....blustery night and grass in your breakfast... and all. Leaving the place better than you found it...that's our Jason. Best to you with thanks.

Another awesome video Jason. Love the sheer wild beauty of that location . Can't believe you're all wrapped up and freezing your nuts off in June over there. ....the middle of summer ! What the hell is happening to our weather around the world ?. Having moved from UK to Malaysia 19 years ago with my work, even I'm noticing the difference in weather patterns. As I comment here, we have torrential rain and heavy thunderstorms outside........ and our rainy season doesn't start til October. Regularly seeing trees blown over or struck by lightning. Crazy times ! Keep up the good work with the videos .ATVB brother from a very warm but wet Malaysia

Another great video Jason. Great to see the Lanshan getting a run-out. It’s a beast on exposed ground like that. I treated myself to an x-mid 1 last year but on my last two camps I brought the Lanshan 1 instead because i *know* it handles the wind. Btw, are they RevRace trousers?
@RamblingOn
@RamblingOn 4 ай бұрын
The little lanshan is a great tent in the wind, I've found myself xhosing it over the xmid once or twice too. The trousers are helikon tex pilgrim I think is the model 👌 they're a tad heavy for summer hiking but very well made

Lovely video. Always great to see my local mountains from a different POV. That place (Hare's Gap) is a bit of a wind tunnel. I have Lanshan 1 (non-pro) and am thinking about getting an XMID 1 Solid. How do you feel they compare in terms of wind sturdiness? The Lanshan sheds wind well but it requires enormous stakes to keep the inner and outer tort.
@RamblingOn
@RamblingOn 3 ай бұрын
It served me well on the night but I can imagine it is a windy little spot. The lanshan 1's are brilliant in the wind. I reckon it relays on the pegs a lot more than the Durston would. The Durston is good in the wind, I haven't had any issues yet but I always make sure to stake out all the guylines and I use decent pegs too just to be sure. I do have some camping videos of it in some strong wind. There are some downsides compared to the lanshan, the main one being it's got a pretty big footprint. I'd say it's as big as a 2 man tent but then you have some really nice headroom inside and the two vestibules. Beautiful looking tent too. I doubt you'll be disappointed with it if you do decide to try one
@iwasapirateonce1639
@iwasapirateonce1639 3 ай бұрын
@@RamblingOn Thanks. I was a bit worried about the footprint, as I already find the Lanshan a bit difficult to get squeezed into more sheltered spots.

Everytime, even if I've been looking forward to it all week. When the time comes it can be very hard to get going, so you are not alone. Sciatica is horrendous, I hope it doesn't give you any more grief. I'm doing yoga and strength training every day to try keep myself going. It's good that you have it back to normal now, hopefully it stays that way. DDP Yoga is great for back pain but you'd have to do it consistently for a good few weeks to start seeing the difference

Hi Jason, Could you recommend a camping pillow and cook set for me please? I'm gathering a few new bits
@RamblingOn
@RamblingOn 4 ай бұрын
The pillow that I've been using for the last few months is the flextail zero pillow. It's a really good size, the pad strap is really strong and holds well. I think it's a very good pillow, better than the trekology aluft that I also have. I recently bought the Soto windmaster stove, it is definitely the best stove that I have tried. The burner is massive, the simmer control is spot on and the pot support is huge. It also has a built in regulator which is fantastic. I bought the triflex attachment too just for a lighter setup when I want that option. I'll be using that as my main stove I reckon especially in the winter. Pair that with a pot that has a heat exchange built in and you're golden. The pot's I use are fire maple pots but any pot will do the job. The heat exchange just improves the over all efficiency. Here's a few links to make it handy.. Soto: amzn.to/4fcUx3S 1 litre pot: amzn.to/4cMqiih 600ml pot (I use this more often now, it will work well with the triflex but sits high with the standard support on the soto) amzn.to/3LBD33e Pillow: amzn.to/3LuzL23

@@RamblingOn Thanks alot Jason. I just had a look at the Fextail and I am a site sleeper. Im not keen on the tapered design for that however, the Trekology Aluft pillow with its height seems to suit me better, if you want to send me a link you get commission for it?

@@cahillp3 I was a bit worried about it myself, Im a side/belly sleeper 😄 I noticed that there's a a few versions of the aluft now...
