@@Deodank Neat! Not everybody who plays video games does that. What you saw doesn't matter, you're generalizing. I've played video games pretty much my entire life and I'm a well-adjusted, productive member of society. I've never even CONSIDERED sending a death threat to somebody, that's unconscionable. Do I, or people like myself, just have to get thrown under the bus because you can't come to terms with the fact that not every video gamer is a psychopath?

@azmalguthek4502
@azmalguthek4502 2 жыл бұрын
@@Deodank Exposing your narrow-mindedness was my only intention. It's important to stand up to people when they're doing something harmful, whether it's intentional or unintentional. In your case, it's being careless and lumping psychopaths in with regular individuals. I'm content with your response helping my point, in that regard. It's entirely possible that nothing will change, but it's also possible that things will. Neither of us know what will happen to the industry, or to the communities within and around. To claim otherwise is both foolish and arrogant. You are no seer, you are merely a jaded pessimist who struggles with basic distinctions. It's not my ego I care about, because your careless generalization affects other people as well. I'm not the only gamer in existence, after all. And I'm certainly not the only gamer who isn't a psychopath that sends death threats.

Hahahah Although I’d personally also dub 2021 a Year of Variety. We got at least an A tier game in every genre, and the majority got 2 or 3. This year may have locked those few SS tier, year and genre defining games but I personally think everyone getting a high quality game they enjoy is in itself an achievement for the industry. I mean when was the last year we got an actual good RTS game? Age of Empires 4 is the first one I can remember in maybe 4-5 years.

I can't imagine Google is making any money on it at this point though. Keep in mind, if Google wasn't Google (aka one of the most successful companies in history - huge pockets), Stadia would have completely ceased to exist a long time ago. Amazon (also bottomless pockets) went a "safer" route and just made an MMO versus trying to develop a new platform. Based on initial sales, you could call it a success; however, I'm not sure how long those profit margins will hold over time.

While that’s all true this year I discovered Hunt: Showdown for myself which hooked me like no other competitive online game ever before, gave me countless hours of fun, made me meet a great new group of people to play with and generally consumed most of my free time. So yeah, my gaming year 2021 was pretty great.

I'm a newly minted female game dev myself, and when I heard the emotions in your voice while speaking about caring about the people who work on games I was surprised with how grateful I felt, as well as the novelty of it. I am lucky to be working for a company which, from what I've seen so far, treats employees as people, but if I had the misfortune to be working in a toxic workplaces like that of Activision it could have broken me. It might have turned me off gaming for life. And when I think of the people who actually had to endure that and place myself in their shoes, I am saddened and appalled that this had been going on for so long and those who were responsible are still trying to claim they weren't involved. Your weekly updates allowed me to follow all the developments of this case, which to me was a more personal matter than most viewers out there. I'm glad you kept talking about it despite the viewers asking you not to (and even though I sometimes had to grin and bear your rightful thrashing of the antics the business side of my company got up to in the process). I hope you keep it up for next year as well, because something tells me we're far from reaching the end of this story. Thanks again for all the videos this year, can't wait to see your GOTY vid up soon!

I finished Endwalker on Christmas night with my girlfriend and it was the best Christmas of our entire lives. We laughed together, cried together, continued on late at night together, everything. It was insanely magical and is the best ending to a year I could've asked. One filled with so much joy in a world on fire, reminding the both of us that hope is everything and we continue living and being happy. Yes, that's how good Endwalker was, especially if you've been there from the beginning. It literally affected our lives and core values. Edit: I'm honestly not mad about the negative comments, no need to defend me in the comments. It's ok if some guys didn't enjoy FF14 as much as me, it's a very niche type of game and definitely not for everyone. I hope you guys all find that one wonderful experience in gaming that completely blows you away one day! Happy New Year! I stand by what I said, having spent nearly a decade in the game, creating new relationships and community, having the story influence my personality in healthy ways, finding the love of my life, the game literally did change my life. One day, I hope all you find the catalyst for your own growth and then come back here and I'd love to hear you gush about your own journey! Stay awesome, we all deserve to achieve our best selves and not constantly clouded by negativity.

"I really enjoyed this thing with my girlfriend and it personally changed me a bit" Shitters on the internet: it wasn't that good, trash game, blah blah blah Imagine your life being so miserable or being such a miserable person that instead of just passing by a wholesome comment like that, you feel the need to insert this stupid fucking contrary bullshit just to feel better about yourself. Unreal. Get some therapy.
