It is so true! When you are no longer interested in a romantic relationship, you have already obtained some sort of freedom. Freedom from people's opinion of you, etc. Such words of wisdom, Fr. Casey! May i also add something to that...when we are longer attached to the things of this world, we are also being liberated on a whole new level. Bet you are feeling this way too, Father Casey! God bless you abundantly. Will be keeping you in prayer! Prayers & Love from Malaysia! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🇲🇾

THANK YOU fr.Casey for being FAITHFUL to GOD and to the CATHOLIC CHURCH. . . why do others insist silibacy,? I know there's a deeper, meaningful spiritual reason/a for that but for me as an ordinary follower of CHRIST, common sense that silibacy is not possible simply because a priest should be a living example of JESUS wko have sacrificed a lot in this world, CHRIST HIMSELF didn't get married for HE is ONE with GOD the FATHER and I believe that we cannot serve 2 masters at the same time. priests are ordained offer themselves to GOD with their whole heart and soul as their SACRED VOW . . dear netizen/s, pls dont tempt our CATHOLIC seminarians or priests, dont allow urself to be an instrument of satan. . I am a filipino, philippines is known as a Christian country but many are only Catholics by name and very few young men nowadays are willing and interested of getting into priesthood, I can't imagine if time comes that the whole world will run out of prists, I always hope and pray it won't happen. . . may fr casey's FAITHFULNESS to GOD inspire us specially the young ones.. .HAPPY SACRED HEART of JESUS this valentine fr Casey. . . . GOD BLESS everyone.

The closest I ever came to asking a priest out was when I was 6 or 7 and had a crush on Fr. Ray. I asked him to marry me and he said when I grew up and found the right person, he'd be happy to perform the ceremony. When I told him I wanted to marry him, he told me he was already married to the Church. Can't top the Church. Nicest rejection I ever received. Have a great day Fr. Casey.

Having come from Protestantism and seeing all the troubles, hassles, divorces, hurting kids, and pastors who can't seem to do either vocation well enough, I see strong wisdom in priests remaining celibate, especially in Catholicism where priests have many more duties and obligations than protestant pastors.

I agree, but I think it should be an option. I think the idea that celibacy caused the abuses in the church is an over simplification, but it may have been a factor, and marriage is holy too.
@catsmom129 Жыл бұрын
@@marvalice3455 this may sound weird, but I wonder if it was sometimes the other way around. I can imagine struggling with unwanted thoughts about minors, feeling immense guilt, and deciding that becoming a priest will help them become a better person, be held accountable, make it up to God, etc. I’m not saying that’s a good motivation. AMEN ! Even the Gospels speaks of the wisdom of a celibate presbyter, one could say Matthew 6:24, while the context is on worldly riches vs. God, could be argued as the two vocation - it is wisest to not be divided between the two vocations. The Apostles also established that it should be either not both vocations in Act 6:1-4 !

For me personally, I always was uninterested in the whole relationship stuff. Now where I'm obese, people always tell me "You just need to lose weight and you'll find a perfect boyfriend". And it's just so frustrating. I do not choose to stay single because of my weight. I chose to stay single, because I simply do not want to be in a relationship. I even had a phase where I thought I was attracted to the same sex. But God helped me figure it out. I'm 32 years old and I haven't thought about dating for the last 15 years. Sometimes, sure. But it's really rare where dating crosses my mind. And I'm happy with my decision. When I say to people that I chose to stay celibate, they respect it more than when I simply just say that I don't like dating. Maybe it's really my personal vocation to stay single and give all my attention to my faith.

How do we know, “in heaven we’ll have no marriage and no romantic relationships.” Not disputing your statement...just curious.
@dennisvelez98464 жыл бұрын
Theresa Robertson marriages in heaven are a complicated subject that I’m still fully understanding but I’ll try my best to explain it. Basically, marriage vows always end with “til death due us part”. What this means is that if a spouse were to die, those specific vows would be void. However, once both are in heaven, in perfect unity with God, they will also be in perfect Union with each other. So in a sense, marriages as we see them will not be the same in Heaven, but they will be more beautiful and contain an even stronger bond. I hope that clarifies it.

I admire your post, Fr. Casey. It is highly commendable, especially in this fast paced world, to remain pure. However, as a well wisher, I wanted to advise you not to announce your celibacy, or be too vocal about your vows of abstinence to people, mainly because there are many people who harbor vicious hatred towards those who are not sexually active, and there are some who burn in jealousy when they see a man of God practicing chastity. I speak from personal experience, since I faced vitriol of attacks from some who reacted violently to me being single. Some of my enemies had tried to ruin my reputation in the most horrible way, I obviously won't get into details, but I am worried they could target you if you propagate the gift of celibacy. Too many holy men are being framed for vile crimes, and accused of perversion, and are tricked into positions where accusation may take place. Please be most careful, because while you may practice the word of god, someone might send a person to be in seclusion with you only to give a false case in your name out of spite. I hope you remain safe, and continue persevering in faith and love.

Amen. Christ has set us free. The lie that my generation was sold (and that many have been sold) is that one's sexuality can't be controlled, it can only be harnessed (hence pornography etc are touted as "solutions" to sexual tension). I think even for those who are married, there is something freeing about not being sexually addicted, about being able to utilize one's sexuality as a free and rational act of self-giving love, and not as something that one "must" do, under compulsion.

People are untrustworthy and true loyalty and love is almost like winning the lotto. Some people are blessed to find that partner where the passion never dies. Unfortunately its not that common. And kids are a HUGE responsibility!! Your freedom is gone! I dont understand why more people dont want kids! Im not a priest, but Father KC has a true gift! I too dont desire marriage or children. Dannette - as old guy, I’m always shocked that young , goodlooking priests often have women flock to them... women must understand they need to back off. The more articulate, entertaining, lenthusiastic these priests are the more that women of all ages flock or form group of influence around a priest. It’s ridiculous. I can understand stand why priests get into a mode of being “blank” personalities, generic homilies, say nothing, do nothing with the congregation. Seen this too often. I avoid parishes with diocesan priests because they don’t get the support of anyone. Religious order priests get women to flock (at times) but they get the support of the order. My point is obvious... too often the priest after mass will try to disappear as soon as possible. I don’t blame him.

I hear this. My relationship with God just took this turn. People think I’m nuts and my church thinks I’m a heretic or worse possessed by demons. I am LDS. I’ll never be a Catholic, but I will also never want to date you, Father Casey. Of all of your videos that I have ever watched, this is the one I truly do relate to. I don’t want to date them and I don’t want them to hit on me. My relationship with God has given me things I could never have with a spouse, including the blissful body image neutrality you mentioned and the freedom to throw myself into my creative work, and the answer to prayers for healing that I would not have imagined possible. I know I’ve said some hard things in my comments on your videos, but I do respect your vows and your commitment to be a Friar. I think it’s beautiful. And I know so well the pain of the disrespect that treats your decision of what to do with your own life and your own body as a attack on the people who don’t choose that and don’t understand or simply don’t like what it says about their own inability to control themselves. In as much as you all choose celibacy and chastity, you are my heroes. I sincerely wish your faith wasn’t so toxic to my family values. Otherwise, I’d line up to join you.

Best thing that can happen to a human being is becoming a priest of Jesus Christ/saint. I pray that the love and peace of Christ overflow in you Fr Casey.

Being a priest is not the best thing. Some of them have been the worst people in the world. Being the saint God calls someone to be at whatever part of their life is the best thing.

@@anupomarozario8299 I meant it in a spiritual dimension as a gift from the Creator.

THAT FREEDOM!!! You are completely right!!!! It's so great! I want to get married some day but I don't know how's going to happen that some day I prefer to be with someone than to be with my freedom... God helps me know when and with whom!

There was a well-known deacon in Chicago who used to come into the bar I worked at downtown, every night. He’d get drunk on wine and then brag about how all the ladies wanted him but couldn’t have him because he was a man of God. This video just made me think of him for some reason.

If the father in our parish were married, i'd expect his loyalty to be towards his wife and family first. It's so respectable for a man to take the calling of Father of a church and place all of his dedication to the lord and to us. A big part of me wanted to be a nun, but a bigger part of me wanted to be a mother. So much respect to you

I am not a priest but I understand what you say. I am asexual and a 43 years old virgin. without distractions from romantic relationships, I can love god more fully. I used to have some sexual desire, now I could feel the love of god fully and even porn seems dull. god reveals himself more clearly if you decide to be celibracy. I know that I will be a virgin for the rest of my life. however, the love of god is so much more pleasurable than sex.

My friend is a Episcopalian Priest, and she discovered some people have a Priest Fetish..lol Brother your right, it’s weird, and it’s not appropriate. Yes a female Priest, not a male.
