I recently got saved although I was raised Christian. I’ve lost many of my friends when I picked up my cross and I’ve found myself having to put away the carnal career ambitions I was pursuing. I opened up to my parents on how I much I’ve been struggling with all this. Listening to this made me realise again it was only hard because I’m constantly fighting my own ego. I didn’t want to believe it when my dad said it but it’s true. Just needed someone to share this with. God bless

I share similar struggle. I find it hard to believe or trust or rest in Christ after many years of hearing God's word and even preaching it myself to others. Such a life is really frustrating. To really know somehow what is right and not being able to do it because you are in love with wrong doing and hence doing what is God-pleasing appears burdensome, difficult and undesirable. And yet knowing that you will eternally perish if you don't repent. It's very very devastating to live such a life.

Hi Joeladuo, don't be too hard on yourself, God loves you and you don't have to believe the devil's lies. You know a house with a faulty foundation will eventually crack, in order to save such a house the foundation has to be reinforced so that it doesn't fail. I think it would be best if you focused on the foundational teachings of Christ as enlisted in Hebrews 6:1-2, it will go a long way in helping you fix the cracks in your walls. Remember that Jesus actually came so you might have the grace to do what is right, he also makes you enjoy serving and walking with the Father. I pray that the eyes of your understanding will be enlightened and that you get to know God deeper than you have ever done, I pray that the love of God will flood your heart and you will have a change in mindset and choose to do that which pleases God. Matter of fact, i did a lot of drugs and i overdosed and i will say there is no life after death. Just know how important life is that you are living. You only get one shot at life, there is no second chances of living, there is no heaven, so make your life the best it can be and make everyone you come in contact with life's great. Do you ever think if an ant or rat goes to heaven when you stomp on it? Or do you believe its just the end of the ant or rats life? Its the same concept, be a more advanced human and drop religion. You don't have to be a satanist or bad person to not believe in religion. Once you realize there is no heaven, you can live your life too the fullest and appreciate how miraculous, it is that you and a woman can create a living being that will forever love you and be a conscious human! I use to be agnostic before I met my husband. Anytime he would talk about Jesus or the bible I would challenge him, there was almost nothing in me that believed in God or Jesus. Then one day I decided to go to church with him and he told me to ask God to reveal to me that he is real. So I prayed before I when to church and when the Pastor touched my head I felt this strong magnetic,electrical feeling and at that moment something in me clicked and I knew ever since then that the bible is real. Jesus is real and it's like I can feel God now. Its like a hole inside me got filled and I know that Jesus loves me and I love him and that is the only true life. All any of us have or need in life is Jesus he loves us so much, but it seems like hardly anyone knows it.Please I plea with you do the same ask for God to reveal to you that Jesus is the one true God and if you really mean it with your whole heart God will answer you.

I want to have full faith in Christ, but I think my heart is just too hard. I constantly have blasphemous thoughts of Christ's miracles and even the resurrection itself not being done by God (I think you know what I mean). I don't agree with these thoughts, but they never seem to go away and prevent me from truly trusting in Jesus. I'm not sure if I've blasphemed against the Holy Spirit because of this or if there's any hope for me. Maybe my ability to distinguish between God and the devil has been permanently broken and there isn't hope. I really hope God will soften my heart and open my eyes soon to see the truth without any of these thoughts ruining me. Please pray for me.

Keep in mind Gods divine providence. I struggle with this too actually, it’s a very difficult thing. Please remember that God is so intensely in love with us, and that his mercy is indescribable. The unforgivable sin is dying in a state of rejection and sin. And don’t give in to despair. This is a sin against the Holy Spirit! Imagine believing you are more powerful than God, and that God can’t save you even if you want to be saved! This is incorrect! God is your creator! No man can force a man to have faith in Christ. Only by God's way He will speak and reveal Himself to individual that will awaken the faith to believe by grace. I become believer of Christ when I literally heard God calls my name out of wedlock and confront me with my indenial struggle. And that's when my Christian journey begins. Gospels preaching speaks to some with the sensetivity of The Spirit and moved but to others who are still struggling just wait God, will make a way to introduce Himself to you in a way that you will never ever forget.

Cristheapexgoat Good question Chris, but it's gonna be His ways and in His time not ours. The good thing about desiring it is surely He will come to answer you. While You wait you can know Him by reading your bible, don't stop hearing preachings of John Piper and I also suggest Francis Chan, both of them and other local pastors I know helped me recover my faith to Christ before I totally lost it while listening to their podcast. Don't stop seeking Him for so do I still seeking Him every morning esp when doubts attack. Though, I pray for you to experience Him deeply today. ;)

I know lots of Calvin theology and John pipers take, and after 4 years of hard study and trying, still don’t find Christ as a treasure. The emotions are simply not there. Grace alone for faith to heat up. I have concluded God has not predestined me for adoption, I keep an open mind for whatever time I have left, until then I will continue to read the Bible, study all things spiritual. I will not fake anymore. If someone would pray for me, maybe your prayer might be the means for God to actually bring me to life. I will no longer hope on myself nor God being favourable.

Daniel, this is simply not biblical. Calvinism is a recognized heresy. God gives everyone on this earth the saving Grace to be saved. Jesus said he came to save Jews and gentiles, John 3:16? These aren’t in support of Calvinism. You are giving into despair, which is a sin against the Holy Spirit. As long as you are alive and breathing you have a chance to be saved. Rest in this hope and try to grow in a relationship with God. Faith is also not an emotion. You say the emotions aren’t there, but you have been studying Gods word and praying for 4 years! That doesn’t prove faith? Think about it this way. If every married couple depended on their emotions to know whether or not they were still in love with each other, the divorce rate would be 100%. Human emotions are incredibly flawed and unreliable. If you believe that Christ is lord and that the Bible is the truth, then you have faith!

for the longest time i've been struggling. I've wanted to folloW god and live how he wants but i also want my own power to keep sinning and doing things i shouldn't. I havent rested yet or gave up on those stupid free will sins. I am wanting to. I feel like im addicted to sin and i can't help or control my lustful feeling to attractive guys (im female) i know im only human and everyone sins...i just wish i could stop sinning, I am almost to the point where i want to punish myself for sinning and keep repenting until i stop. I have doubts if god can hear my prayers and if he's listening to me or if hes even real. But my faith that he is there trumps my feeling of him not being real. Please pray for me that god can help me overcome sin and that i can rest and give up on my earthly desires and stop pretending that it's okay. I believe we can only truly keep the commandments as we truly receive and know His first love for - rather than striving to otherwise keep His commandments in order to receive His acceptance. He already accomplished it - so sometimes many of us get things backwards and try to prove ourselves and that either leads to more self righteousness or burn out in our own efforts . Our desire to serve and honor God can only truly bear fruit as long as we are truly learning to rest in His finished work and abiding in Him as our position of faith . How can we truly love God if we don’t really believe His first love for us ?

Often times in the Word you’ll see seemingly opposite “ truths “ or paradoxes .. yet we know that His Word won’t truly contradict His truth .. predestination vs free will for instance . Both sides can exist simultaneously but only by His grace . That to say I agree as a believer and follower of Christ we will naturally have a desire to keep His commandments and that should happen thru love .. “His first love for us “ leading us to truly receive and respond back with faith . We as a branch and Him the vine . My point is this - keeping the commandments aren’t the primary focus for us in order to go to heaven .. yet they should follow as we get to know Him ! We see how Peter early on often times tried to prove his love for Jesus .. we know he DID love Jesus , but it was zealous as if he needed to prove himself .. whereas John “ the disciple Jesus loved “ truly seemed to receive His love early on .. to where he responds more with boasting in Jesus love for him .. Would Peter of gone to hell in his times of denial in his fear and insecurity before he really became mature in Jesus first love for Him ? Or the their on the cross .. that very day he entered heaven .. he didn’t know obey a list of commandments.. We know the commandments Jesus was referring to was loving God with all of our hearts souls and our mind and loving others as we love ourselves: surely that’s what we are commanded to do ! - yet at the same time we can only love God and love ourselves if we first receive His first love for us ! --- many of us in the church have embraced a mix of the law with the gospel .. and it’s focused on trying to prove ourselves worthy of Gods love ... it’s like many of us have modern day Pharisaical dispositions about Jesus and what the message of reconciliation and the finished work really means .. Many of us have a zeal .. but it’s similar to the Ephesus church in revelation.. it’s busy busy but disconnected at heart .. full of good intention but missing the heart connected passion of first love .. it becomes self generated duty out of guilt .. cycles of revival and burnout . We can say all the right things and even do all the good works .. but still not be embracing His first love and flowing out from that as branch to the vine .. it’s head strong but heart weak . I’m learning to boast in His first love for me and actually receive.. so that I can abide in His already perfected love and finished work reality I accepted when I believed in the good news .. it was already completed in Him ... that might sound scary .. but if we are actually believing in that reality and living from His grace .. then we will flow into good works from the heart and we would work FROM acceptance rather than striving FOR acceptance . Loving God is a response from the heart .. not merely the outward actions and checking off a list of self generated qualifications . We can’t truly love God from the heart without resting in His finished work in Christ for us first. So again ... I agree we are to follow His commandments .. but not like the law and our primary focus and entry point into heaven .. how is that relational learning via intimacy ? Are you doing enough ? Maybe worthy today .. but what about tomorrow? Gods not fickle about choosing His people and drawing us in to know Him . We are pushing Him away unknowingly when we are trying to prove ourselves worthy . Also .. a lot of what Jesus said pointed right to the heart of the Pharisees.. in order for them to see how impossible it truly is to cling to their own merit .. ultimately for them to hopefully be humbled .. so that they could RECEIVE and come to Him . Galatians 6:4 As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died. 1 John 4:18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. Notice he made war with them not just because they believe on Yahusha, but also because they keep the Commandments. Notice how it says the remnant. A remnant is a very small amount. And they keep the Commandments along with the testimony/faith of Yahusha. Many will not find that straight and narrow path, but only a remnant, and this is way many will hear this on that great and dreadful day of HIS judgment... this is Yahusha speaking, Matt 7:23 "And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you, depart from me you that work iniquity". Now what is iniquity?=Sin. And what is sin... 1John 3:4 "Who so ever committeth sin transgresseth also the law, for sin is transgression of the law". Now you also stated that we don't have to keep the Commandments to get into heaven and have eternal life. So let's see what the WORD of YAH says on this very important subject, the most important subject. So let's go to the very last chapter of the whole Bible to Rev 22:14 "Blessed are they that do HIS Commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city" Now notice how it says "DO" another action word. Do HIS Commandments, not just know them but DO. Now let's get another witness, from the most credible witness of all men, Yahusha. Matt 19:16-17 "Good Master what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life? Why callest thou me good ME good? There is only one that is good, that is YAH. But if thou wilt enter into life, keep the Commandments" Now that's out of the mouth of Yahusha, so is HE lying? I know HE is not. So as it is written...let YAH be true and every man a liar. Or reading the Word to find yourself already approved because of the fullness of what Jesus already accomplished? I know we could go back and forth just based on the perspectives we are speaking from . I’m not trying to argue that I know more Bible than you or that I’m righteous in my own efforts of holiness. I’ll agree with you that keeping His commandments surely go hand in hand so we have that common ground . I just wouldn’t emphasize that focusing on commandments in there of itself is my access point of acceptance... that’s all . To be honest .. I come from a very legalistic background with a lot of “ head “ knowledge regarding theology and knowing about God .. but my heart has been very disconnected from what my head knows .. yes I was still a Christian who would have died and been with the Lord .. but He’s brought me to a place to realize I’ve been disconnected and considering my issues in life regarding what a Father love looks like .. I’ve struggle to receive His love despite all of the truth I knew .. so I’ve learned first hand how easy it can be to receive God truth more mentally and not necessarily receive His truth from the perspective of His love .. and I’m learning that as I actually open up to receive His love .. faith and hope are stirred together .. resulting in His truth finally taking the root where I needed it the most . So many we come from opposite ends of the spectrum and the Lord is working mighty to draw you into an emphasis in His Word and the same with me .. it’s at first glance they seem to oppose one another with a specific kind of focus .. yet they can only flow together in true harmony by the grace of God ! Another good example of this is Paul emphasizing faith apart from works to draw those focused on the law into Gods grace .. then James on the flip side said faith without works is dead .. cuz it IS for those who coming from another heart disposition. Yet they both are true ❤️✝️ All I know for sure that we can completely agree on is that Jesus took our place on the cross .. took on our sins and the righteous wrath of God .. and we died with Him .. we were buried and we were also raised with Him and seated in the heavenly places with Him . So I’m learning to embrace my new identity and for me .. It’s His love that is allowing me to let go and trust Him from the heart .. to receive His grace and manifest His fruit . Otherwise from the end I come from .. I spin out striving for acceptance and I’m never good enough .. finding all sorts of introspected ways to disqualify myself .. that mentally left me wide open for the enemy’s accusations . I didn’t necessarily have to be living in outward “sin “ but I’d be stuck condemning myself for my ego and keeping my eyes inwardly in efforts to fix myself .. in essence hoping to make myself acceptable .. even though I believed in Gods grace ! 😂 from the realm I’ve come from .. I had a hard time being receptive to Gods grace as empowering presence. If hell is for all sceptics, or non believers, then billions of innocent Chinese or Indians, North Koreans who suffered in poverty and hunger will be suffering again in hell through no fault of their own, as they were never exposed to God. Hi Borderland. I can only tell you what I do. When I'm struggling with a problem I tend to try and try to handle it myself. I get tired and frustrated. God tells us over and over to give our problems to him and he'll take care of it. In prayer I tell him about it and ask for his help. Then I thank him as if it's done. I know he's going to handle it for me because he promised he would. Now I can rest in that promise.

Faith isn't hard it should never be considered as such because if it is then it's not. Faith is a commitment without question of whether or not you can observe it with any worldly senses. Too often we place faith in the wrong places which leads to a path of self destruction I've been back and forth most of my life. One thing I've come to realize is you have to find what you believe in and stick to it, be open to that you could be wrong but dont allow someone else's point of view control yours.

Gariel, all believers struggle. It is expected and we see that scripture addresses it in Romans 7:15-25 (Paul's own struggle) and Galatians 5:16-26, where we are shown the Spirit and the flesh war. As believers, we still have a sin nature despite being born again with a new nature. That sin nature is called the "old man" in the exhortation in Ephesians 5:22-24 and Colossians 3:5-10. Both of these exhortations tell us we can put off that old man or put off (or mortify) sinfulness. The problem is, we feel like we can't. We feel like our sinfulness in certain areas have a pull on us. And the key word here is "feel." Our feelings can't be the conductor of the train of thought, the Word of God must be and our feelings follow (the caboose). If our feelings don't line up with the truth of God's Word, then we will make wrong choices that will be sinful. In addition, sometimes we struggle because we actually like certain sins though we know it is wrong. We haven't come to the place where the wrongness of sin equates to us avoiding it because we just won't confess that though we know it is wrong, we love doing it. Until we confess that sin (think 1 John 1:9 or David's repentant cry in Psalm 51) in agreement of what God says about it in His Word, we will struggle more than we should. This struggle is part of our daily Christian walk, but we can consistently struggle less if we remember the truth of Romans 6:1-12. The promise in these verses is that sin no longer reigns (or rules) in our body that we have to obey it. Again, not feelings, but fact. Combine that with the fact that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:35-39), you will embrace the fact that we have the ability to not sin in a more consistent fashion; that we can come boldly to God's throne to ask for forgiveness as we repent; that we can grow in our love of God daily. Let me exhort you, don't let the struggles you have make you think that your faith is not real or that God is not there. Your ability to struggle less is based on the object of your faith; Jesus Christ, the leading of the Holy Spirit, and the truth of God's Word. Focus on those things and not yourself and you will begin to see that you can walk stronger with God every day. God bless.

Four years ago I put my faith in Jesus. For so long, I believed so many lies about the truth - the supposed "contradictions" of the Bible, "how can you believe in something that you can't see?", etc. no one gave me a good answer. But in a deep depressive episode, before I thought about taking it all, I cried out to God, I said, "Lord, if not you, then nothing else! Help my unbelief, if you hear me, have mercy on me and show me who you are." God answered my prayer that night, and I was healed. Yet, today, I struggle with doubt once again. Faith is a hard thing, but we must rest and trust that God will lead his children to Him. May God have mercy on us, though we have nothing to offer, and we are helpless to the point we cannot bring ourselves to even believe in Him.

I understand how you feel. I think it does not have to come from the Bible. I believe you can experience God without being religious. I had my awakening without ever reading the Bible, now I do but more out of curiosity and because I want to read and understand the words. I don’t believe there is a way to prove it you just experience it when your heart is fully open or completely broken, that was the case with me. @@80iesbaby OK thanks for that. In all my decades on my knees there was nothing. This is my longer story, and it is over 'many' 'many' 'decades'. There were so many years put into this. I was raised in Christianity in the UK and tried so hard for so long to have the relationship with the god everyone was telling me about. I was so frightened as a child at the thought of burning in the never-ending lake of fire for eternity that I could not sleep. As a child I cried myself to sleep and had hideous nightmares about hell (I still have these nightmares). The people at my church, when I was a child, honestly thought this torment was better in the long run to save me. Making me so frightened that I would never stray from god and church. I was shown and given very graphical pictures and stories of the actual real hell that I would most certainly go to. I was under 5 years old for flips sake! I was told I would never see my parents or family again and we all would be burnt. The priest/leader? even held a very hot water bottle on my arm until I cried out one evening. They really pushed home this image of hell. I would be told to smell sulphur from a bottle before being shown these graphical images and told stories of this never-ending torture. An eternity of never-ending torture for a crime of not knowing and being saved from this god. I knew no different as this was in the culture with everyone around me at the time. Just take a moment, Christianity teaches hell and there is nothing stopping this from happening at home or church to a child under 5 years old because this happened to me. I can pretty much assure you that I have tried the hardest to know god to avoid this hell. There was always nothing in return from this god that wants to know each of us. Just empty silence. People have prayed for me and worked to help me resolve this. I tried for decades and decades with nothing at all. I spent hours with anyone and everyone, church leaders, elders, tea drinking vicars you name it. I was re-baptised and also confirmed in a large cathedral. I've attended many churches and chapels as I've travelled with my work over the years. I've always fully Involved myself with church and chapel life, anything I could think of, I really tried. I read the entire bible 3 times, twice on my own and once guided in a big group so we could understand all the points. I've humbled, asked, opened my heart, honestly prayed, asked for forgiveness and forgave others. Walked and talked in Christ's name. There was still nothing. So many years of humbling and asking and absolutely nothing from god. I became so desperate that I sold my possessions to live a Jesus told us to at one point and that just made me homeless. I opened my heart and asked Jesus to save me as I am a sinner. My church friend thought I was taken by evil spirits and left me alone and homeless. While either on the city streets or alone in the countryside under the stars, I prayed to the lord to provide, guide and be with me. I would be beaten up by drunk and sometimes not drunk people and would pray that they were forgiven. I never took alcohol or drugs just praying to the lord. I would still try to help other homeless people and share the word of god with them. Eventually, I became very ill and was taken in by a small group who helped people like me, and they had no belief in any deity. They just helped me and wanted nothing. There was no trying to preach empty words, just help. I think if not for them I would have died at the next winter. No Christian organisation helped, and I was turned away from many churches. They were only interested in 10% paying Christians. It was very sad to go on this journey and still not find or know god. However, when I found myself again and had some life back, I was straight back into seeking Jesus again. It's still shocking to me that it was only the secular community that eventually saved me as they could see the mess that religion had done to me. The living fear of hell as a child is just child abuse. I do not know how by anyone standards I could have been a more honest loving open Christian. People around me told me what it was like to know god. The feeling of love and peace. I wanted that so much and have cried myself to sleep wanting it. So many people having such difficult lives, asking god to come to them and 'bang' they had it. Within days or hours, they had what I searched for years and years. I've seen people say they have this in church many times. So, I started to research to find out what I was doing wrong, raised as a child in it, it just made no sense why I would not receive the slightest of any idea that anyone was there and listening. Why would I not receive the Holy Spirit? Why would a loving god know that I've done everything honestly to walk with him and he leaves me out in the cold? I've prayed with an open heart the sinner’s prayer and asked Jesus to be part of my life. So, I could obey and do his teachings. I've repented my sins and asked Jesus and other people to forgive my sins. I don't know why it's so complicated or why so many people think the answer is different. I did this for many decades. Humble, honest and open and there was just silence. I've never had so much as a feeling or comfort. Over the years people would say things to me like these 5 points, to explain why it didn't work: *God hardened my heart so I could not know him. {Why would he do that if I was trying so hard to know him from a child onwards?} *I had some secret sin I don't know about. {I worked day and night to do 'everything' to know him} *I was envious of other Christians who prayed to find their keys. {meaning the people that prayed and got an 'answer immediately - if they were being true and honest or just 'thought' it was a god} Or Romans - 'so He gave them up to a reprobate mind' {because they could not think of another why it wouldn't work} *I just was not a proper Christian {this one was the hardest to understand, just take another look at what I did?) It's funny but people are quick in saying it's not what you do then tell you what to do. *I was lukewarm Christian. {I sold all my possessions and gave the money to the poor - how can that be lukewarm!} It was never about my physical actions it was always praying, repenting, honestly, humbling and asking to know the one true god. So, I am now empty with it all. I do wonder these days that is any of it true. I've not been able to find any 'good evidence' in my searching. People point to the bible to prove the bible when the authors are anonymous. We have hundreds of religions in the world and hundreds of versions of Christianity. Getting the correct one is a very long shot if any are true at all. Basically, my doubts came when I tried a different route to finding god. Instead of the many 'men' of the church I thought I would do some independent research into where I was going wrong. I did this because at every church I was given different doctrines to follow to find god. They were all different. So, my independent research took me on a long journey to discover many things I was told as a Christian was not actually true. For example, I was told that Matthew, Mark, Luke and John wrote the gospels when in fact leading Christian biblical scholars say that we don't know who wrote them as they are anonymous and they were certainly not eyewitness accounts, which is why it say the gospel according to Luke. Then we only have copies of fragments of copies and no originals. I found so many different problems that I doubted even more to the point of which would make perfect sense why I never received anything from god. If there was no god(s) and it was all created by men for men. Thinking about these many problems with the bible, it being created by men fits far more than it being authored by a god to me. I was only after I started to give it up did, I start to think "I wonder if he’s real" not before. These doubts came after such a long time of 'nothing from god'. I am to the point where with such a lack of 'good evidence' for the supernatural world I honestly think that we only have the natural world. To me there is no god, devil, heaven or hell. After all these years I still do not know Jesus and have never had and encounter or heard his voice in any form. I was never expected a voice in my head, which many people claim they have had. I would have been happy with any sign from god or received any message. I think the last time I asked god for a sign I later followed a car home for about 20 miles and the sticker in the back windows said. "Eat sh$t and die!". I did wonder if that was a sign from god or just another idiot with a car sticker and of course, how could I have known the difference? End of part 1

@@80iesbaby Part 2 of 2 - It would not fit on one comment. How can anyone tell a message from god or something we've made up. There are over 1000 different Christian denominations, so I think plenty has been made up in the past. People cherry pick parts of the bible they like and 'sort of forget' about the stuff they don't like. Silly stuff like Creation vs just a natural world forming. I know Christians that hold to both these ideas. I've been to churches that for example think the flood was just a story of meaning and another church that teaches it as being actually a hard fact of history. They cannot both be correct so how do you find out? For me I went down the science route, i.e. what's the good evidence for the claim. There was honestly just nothing in my decades of praying, no Holy Spirit, there was just total empty silence. Christians always say they know Jesus and have a relationship with them. In fact, when you ask, they do not have this relationship. All they really have is the words told to them by other people. As far as anyone can tell there has never been a real god on the earth. We just have stories. Christians also say they know Jesus, but again they don't and cannot know him as an actual person living 2K years ago. They think they know him by words written by 'no one knows' in an old book. We cannot actually know this person. If you get a red-letter edition bible, then you have the words we are told come from Jesus. This is not enough to know a person two thousand years ago when the text is in old languages that have been translated and copied and copied. I cannot think for one second that a god that supposedly created the entire universe gave us an instruction manual as vague and open to interpretation as these collections of writings. If this god created galaxy after galaxy with billions of stars and planets but give 'us' the 'special things' on this tiny little planet an old book, then something does not add up. If you believe it some people get a hard, cruel and short life. Miserable and hard for others and some the fantastically wonderful life. There is no lesson that each person can learn from this. The god never stopped wars, famine, cruelty, rape or murder. People say, brushing it off which is totally lame, it's god’s plan when they don't even know a god exists and what his plan is or even if he has one. Hospitals full of sick children riddled with cancer who have full on Christian parents. So called 'faith' healers like to work on a carefully crafted stage (for the money) so you don't see them on these cancer wards saying BS like 'demon be gone'. To me, now, it's very clear that it's created by men for men to help people deal with the fact one day we all will die. No one wants to leave the party. People are scared and so what better than a deity to save you? Of course, some people use it for control, and others to make money. To me the question is where this god is and why does she/he/it never show. Oh yes, some people get a personal experience which is just favouritism from this god and cannot help anyone else to believe it. If so, Christians would be convinced by a Muslim saying they had a personal experience of their chosen deity. From my experience, which is long now, most Christians (haven't read the book supposedly written by their god) have to cherry pick the bible as some of the stuff is disgusting. Slavery and marry your rapist are two that you never hear on a Sunday morning. On that note if a person really thought this god was real then why wouldn't they have read the bible many more times than me? After all ifs from their god with instructions for keeping the virgin girls after a battle. Sorry I keep going off track. I think I am angry they this nonsense was put in my head by trusted adults. I dislike childhood indoctrination so much. When it happens (and it does in 99.9% of religious people) the god idea (which everyone) is put there before critical thinking. It's a terrible thing to do to children. I think a child should be taught how to think and not what to think. I don’t want our minds to blind us from the truth. Do not be deceived by the lies of the devil. Understand that he finds JOY in watching us be deceived. I’m in unbelief right now while typing this, and i’m not proud of it. I’m trying to help encourage you as well because while we think its hard and God has given up on us, it is easier than we think. Jesus is going to come to your rescue and my rescue. If you seek him, you will find the answers. If you strayed away from your belief, but you want to seek him deep down in your heart, he will find you! Want to know why? Because we are his lost sheep. The difference is, we actually feel something towards our unbelief. If we truly did not believe, that is when we are not his true sheep. God has put it inside of you to know where to go when you feel lost. It may take 3 years, 10 years, or 30 years, but seek him regardless how long it takes. The reward in the end is SO worth it.

Here's my struggle. I know that there is a energy that is God. But something inside tells me that the way we've been taught to perceive God as a man, doesn't feel right. with few exceptions, the path to life is through a woman. When we are in our deepest moment of fear, who do we call? We call out for our Mother. So am I crazy to believe that God is both Male/Female? That God manifest in both as needed. There are times that we need the strength of maleness or what we call maleness and there are times we need the strength of femininity? I feel like somehow, that the truth we need to know is in the Holy text from many religions, but it's being taught to us in such a way, that binds us and not free us.

Phil, the God who gave us the Bible is the only God. The Bible is His word to us. There are no others. He alone is God. He is the Creator. He is all powerful. He spoke creation into existence by the power of His Word. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The God of Moses and David and Elijah. He is perfectly holy and righteous and good and just. And we are sinful. we rebel against Him who created us and gave us life. that is what evil is, sin. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. His standard is perfect righteousness. None of us can achieve that. we know we sin. the 'smallest' lie is so opposite of the perfectly good and righteous character of God that it must be punished. we see our actions. sometimes we see our motives or intentions, but not fully. But God sees our heart. no sin comes from a good heart. it can't. only good can come from a good heart. but we all sin. a good heart cannot lie. so that smallest lie we tell is proof our hearts are not good, but wicked. so it's not simply the actions, but our sinfulness, our wicked hearts that God sees and judges. so we all commit adultery as we've all had lustful thoughts and we have those lustful thoughts cause our hearts are wicked. we all murder as we've all hated people. our selfishness, greed, pride, envy, jealousy, deceit, and the ways in which we seek pleasure, joy, happiness, satisfaction, etc., all prove we are wicked. even the 'best' we can think of are wicked. and our view of that is so skewed because we judge based on our own understandings and our own standards. God gave us His standard though in Scripture, the Bible. That standard is perfect righteousness. we have absolutely no hope of achieving this. consider even if you never sin again, which is impossible, but consider that. well you've already fallen as you've already committed a sin which is not only punishable, but proof of your sinfulness. can anything you do make up for that? no. can anything past that point be done to achieve righteousness? no. we were never righteous and righteousness cannot be achieved, it's a characteristic. any flaw reveals the absence of righteousness. So we are all sinners. God is so perfectly just that He must punish all sin. all sin is evil. we are so wicked we don't have any clue as to how evil as we're deceived by our own wickedness. The punishment for sin is God's wrath. that means eternity in unimaginable suffering in hell. eternity. it is horror beyond all comprehension. that's what we all deserve. BUT. God is love. And He is merciful, and gracious, and kind. First of all, not immediately just casting us all to hell is an act of love and grace and mercy. we are His creation, we have NO rights. a pot cannot say to a potter that he has the right to do what he wants, the potter has all sovereignty over that pot. then consider that the potter didn't even create the clay or the process or the idea of a pot. yet we rebel and deny The Creator. The Only Creator. Sovereign over all. and then we feel entitled to receive some kind of treatment or life or pleasure or good.... Him allowing anyone a second of life without wrath is a gift. Now consider how wonderful many things are that we enjoy. Food, sleep, the beauty of His creation. But that is not the good news. This is the good news, the Gospel. In His love, God sent His Son. The Son of God, Jesus, Who Is God. He is uncreated, eternal, He is God. The Son of God came to this world in flesh. That is, He, the all-powerful Son of God humbled Himself to take on the form of man, being born as a babe of a virgin. This Is God, humbling Himself from His glory to take on the flesh of His creation and be birthed. He lived a perfect, righteous life, as He Is righteous. There is no sin in Him, He does not have a wicked heart like us. He is God. And He came to this earth in such a way to be killed. His purpose, His plan, to give His life as a ransom for many. He lived the perfect, righteous life none of us could and He gave up His life as a sacrifice, in our place. He dwelt among us, God Incarnate, God with us. He was falsely accused by His own people that He loved. He was hated with such hatred and He was innocent. Blameless. They crucified Him on a cross. The all-powerful Son of God. He allowed it, it was God's will. On that cross, God, the Son of God, took on Himself the wrath of God for sin, He suffered the punishment we all deserve. Then, declaring "it is finished!", He gave up His own life and died. The most priceless, holy, Son of God, died for sinners. Then three days later, God raised Him from the dead proving that He Is the Son of God! And Jesus ascended into heaven, seated on His thrown at the right hand of the Father. By His blood, His death, He made a way for eternal life, forgiveness. He offers this gift of His salvation, of eternal life to all who believe in Him. It is only by grace through faith in Him that any can be saved. He commands us to repent - to turn change our mind about our sin, seeing that it is evil against the holy God and hating it, turning from our autonomy, our denial of Him - and to believe in Him. We must have faith that He is who He says He is and follow Him alone. To those who do, He forgives their sin, as He has paid their price and He credits to them His own righteousness. He took our guilt, our sin, and gives us His righteousness so that we, through Him, can stand before God and not be destroyed. But to those who do not believe in Him, they will be judged for all their sin and be cast into hell for eternity. Jesus will return to the earth to gather up to Himself those who believe in Him and to judge the living and the dead. He will judge and establish His kingdom. Every knee will bow and every tongue confess Jesus is Lord. Those who believe will have everlasting life with Him. Those who do not will suffer for all eternity. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Don't deny Him. Repent and believe in Him who saves. In Jesus, the Son of God. There is no other name by which we can be saved. He is the way and the truth and the life. He is the Alpha and the Omega. He is King of kings and Lord of lords. and He is worthy to be praised.

This is so twisted and broken in itself ... The question itself is nonsensical. As if the belief in something without having any actual evidence is something to be desired. It is not. Why should it be? Why should one _want_ to prefer a pure belief in something over dealing with the actual things of which we _know_ that they exist? There could be only one single half sense making answer to that: because one _wants_ to have a religious belief, even although one _knows_ that there is no actual reason for that. So that one prefers a somewhat naive delusion over the actual and real world one lives in. Because one prefers the easy way over having to deal with reality on realities terms. So an excuse in the end. This is something one can do. Sure. But that is a pretty childish behavior, isn't it? The _actual_ question that should get asked is: "I don't believe in - why should I?" That would be a question that does make sense. Especially considering the enormous pressure religious groups put on everyone. The social convention of having to conform with what others do. The way most of us are brought up into this or that belief system at an age where we are still completely unable to understand and judge what we are told. The open hatred and suppression that awaits non believers in most societies. But apart from that ... what reasons would _you_ name why one should believe in something that clearly makes no sense, where there is no actual evidence that any of all the immense claims has got _anything_ to do with reality, into something that clearly contradicts everything we _do_ know and that we rely on every single day, with a pretty good result? _Why should one want to believe?_ There is no answer to that question once you step aside from all the circular, so worthless religious reasons. José weyman - that’s a very strange test. Firstly, because plenty of people who don’t know Jesus still know the 10 Commandments (even the Bible is full of them, like the Pharisees). So knowing the Ten Commandments doesn’t equal being a follower of Jesus. Secondly, because I wouldn’t class the Ten Commandments as “things Jesus said” - which is your argument (People don’t know the things Jesus said - tell you the 10 Commandments to prove they do know the things Jesus said). The way to tell if someone knows Jesus is to look at their life for the fruit, and to talk to them about the hope that they have in Him. (And yes, I do know the 10 Commandments. I also know Jesus. But the one doesn’t prove the other.) 1. You shall have no other gods before God. 2. You shall not worship or bow down to idols. 3. Do not take the Lord’s name in vain. 4.
