Did this challenge 20 years ago in the summer of 2004. My starting point was Newcastle, flight 1 to Copenhagen, flight 2 to Berlin, flight 3 to Nice and flight 4 took me to Paris. Including the flight home from Paris to Newcastle the total cost came in at less than £100 averaging £15-£19 per flight. I do definitely recommend you go back to Albania, what a beautiful country yet not really touristy yet (well it wasn't when I was there in 2017). Another great video, keep them coming.

They're still around but less and less of them, which is a shame. I still hope I might get to pilot one at some point but my chances are getting thinner. They are fascinating machines, with a (soviet copy of) Dakota engine and just massive amounts of lift. Fun fact - in case of an engine failure it was an acceptable emergency procedure to just pull up and let the airplane gently fall into the ground... apparently with the way it's wings and whatnot it would more or less act as its own parachute and land firmly but safely.

If a printout is required, Ryanair must also provide it free of charge. This is exactly the case when it says in the online check-in process that you have to contact the airport staff directly, for example because of your nationality and entry requirements. Even if there is no service counter for Ryanair, there is at least one check-in counter where luggage is dropped off.

Tirana is a city that I’ve visited twice and love! I’ll be heading back fairly soon. Snow capped mountains, a huge park in centre of the city, excellent hotels at very cheap prices and great food. Friendly people and I’ve always felt perfectly safe there, as good as anywhere in the UK.

I was in Albania last September, interesting place and a great alternative if you want cheap late summer sun. Lots of Italians holiday in Albanian, so if you don't like the local food, you will find plenty of Italian dishes.

I just found this by accident and am watching from Castlemaine In Australia. I wish that we had fares as cheap as this 😂. This is fascinating to watch (especially from someone who is so far away from Europe that it takes a day to get there). I sometimes wish that Australia was a bit closer but then we wouldn’t have our beautiful weather. It would be so lovely though to be able to pop over to Paris for a weekend (I’ve been to Adelaide for a night spontaneously with some friends, cost a small fortune). Not quite the same as Paris but still lovely. New sub here 👍

It’s well worth getting an e-sim nowadays, with European coverage. Phone just keeps working as normal whereas whenever my uk providers say EU is included it never works as it should do! You can get them with revolut now too which are very reasonably priced.

@34:00 That desk is not a Ryanair desk. They used to be *very* common before Ryanair switched to mobile BP, at least in CEE and the Balkans. It's an independent company which will print your BPs for much less than it would cost at the actual Ryanair airport counter (where you drop your bag if you have one). Considering a cost to print a page in black and white is somewhere in single digit cents, they only really need to print a couple to break even...

Top tip: Portable bluetooth A4 printer, £100. Its about the size of a 1ft ruler and as thick as a couple of matchboxes. 👍 At Stansted? Take a bus ride to Bishops Stortford and grab a bite to eat. Check out the town.

Crazy... loved it, really well edited. Well it was excellent to be honest. I'm not very mobile at the moment, I'll spare you the self pitying details, but I travel vicariously with this chap & it perks me right up... I'm going to give this a go after a few warm up trips & some research, I've never used Ryan Air before. I must say charging a customer €20 to process their own printed boarding pass when there is no alternative seems a bit rich.

There's a perception that Ryanair has bad legroom but you actually get 2 inches more 'pitch' than on a Wizzair A320, though the seats are slightly narrower.

10:15 I think you are doing an injustice to Memmingen comparing it to "Frankfurt" Hahn. Memmingen e.g. has excellent connection to public transportation and you can get from there to Munich with a regional train in an hour, or to Ulm or go anywhere else in the beautiful Algäu Region of Germany. The town itself is also quite fine. It also has a beer garden right in front of it (it's Bavaria after all), so you can enjoy a cold one in summer while you watch your budget flight land and then hop through security fairly quickly. If you see it up on your flight radar, I wouldn't dismiss it :)

We didn’t really care where we were headed it was just an easy way to get a holiday sorted. Now it’s so easy to do all of this ourselves from the comfort of our own iPhone. Backtracking in aviation usually means direction. Meaning that if you head east with your first flight, you may travel north, south or east - but not back in a westerly direction. It also means that you keep moving away further from your starting point allowing to see more exotic places!

Legroom is a bit of a lottery on Ryanair in my experience - it can be quite generous on one of their sister companies, eg flying to Poland, or on an older plane. Wizzair (in my limited experience) was the most cramped seating I've come across

17:50 Russian built Antonov AN-2 (if I remember correctly). Even the East German Air Force used these reliable work horses up until the unification with West Germany. Were amazingly used by the Bundeswehr Luftwaffe afterwards. Great fun watching your "adventure".

You are so right to want to come back to Albania. It's a gem of a place to view architectural styles, see the sights at the central plaza and masses of interest with 0.25 mile of the centre. Tirana Airport isn't on the Adriatic - it's at Durres - 40 minute coach ride from the airport bus station at the far end of the hire car offices.

I found this last summer. I was island-hopping in Greece but the cheapest route was never another island or anywhere else exotic. It was always the UK. Great video - thanks!

Sorry if you,ve already covered this Scott, but which app do you use to find your flights? I have an idea for doing 10 days away, maybe 5 flights, spending no more than £1000 for everything. Should give me time to look around..? And adding whatever it takes to get home from the final airport....
