I just wanted to say, I think the Lord has used your channel to convict me, and I mean that in the best way. I was SO stressed about curating the "perfect" Kindergarten curriculum and totally not focused on His will, or the fact that early childhood is such a beautiful, quiet, God-ordained time that no child should be pressured to perform in. Since watching several of your videos I have MAJORLY scaled back curriculum for K and now just focusing on reading, writing, and math. Thank you.

Very sound advice. I wish my daughter could have seen this video 3 years ago! When I decided that I would be homeschooling my youngest, my daughter who was 26 at the time decided that she wanted to play an integral part in my son's preschool education. "Go ahead" I told her, "Play with him. Have fun." So she bought some workbooks and "Teach your child to read in 100 lessons." Well she quickly realized that he wasn't developmentally ready for structured textbook learning. He was frustrated. She was frustrated. There were tears. I finally told her, "He's not ready for that. You want him to learn? Play with him. Read to him. Take him outside to play. Cook with him and sing to him. THAT'S what he needs." She didn't believe me. Instead she just gave up. Which was fine by me. It wasn't her responsibility and really it wasn't the time. Now that we're officially in "1st grade" and our first true year of homeschool, I'm so glad that I have the liberty to take it slow and easy. There's no one to impress. Just time to savor.

Its me🙋‍♀️ I am the one person that needs to hear this! First generation homeschool mom here. The families around me have started their 6 year old (or younger) on abeka video school. I know my 5 year old would hate that. He doesn't like screens and tablets. Your videos are giving me confidence in my choices for my kiddos.❤

Oh my gosh, thank you for this video. I feel like you were speaking directly to me! I am planning on homeschooling my 3 year old when she’s older, but I’ve been feeling lots of pressure to put her in a preschool because that’s what everyone I know is doing with their toddlers. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars a month on preschool I think I will now find a playgroup that meets once a month and just do fun activities with her! What an eye opener!

I need to hear this. Thank you. I feel guilty because I bought all of the things for preschool. I have a 7, 4, 2, and 1 year old. When I am able to do school how I think I should be doing it I can only maintain it for a week. By the end of the week I'm burnt out and have no energy to reset for the next week. Letting go of these supplies is a goal of mine, I don't even use them but the guilt is so overwhelming

I feel you! I think with anything, it's hard to let go of an idea and the prompt you have held for a long Time. I do hope you can find a balance that brings you joy!

Sounds easy to homeschool there. I like the freedom. In some places in the US, we have to start Kindergarten no later than 6 and have to test at the end of each year. Thankfully we don't have hours quotas to monitor but I know some states even require hours documentation as well which is so unrealistic. I have no idea how they figure out how to get that many hours in.

yes I am very fortunate to have such freedom in my homeschooling. we do have our quotas to fill, but it's more planning rather than checking results.
