You are doing a lot better than you did at the start Hutts, there are a few things that will make runs more consistent like the Always Be Carrying (take a rock, or arrow through the exit) rule, or just using the up and down look to watch out for enemies who could be coming your way. As for Kevin, unless he has fired and you land as the bullets pass you, he will get you. If you need to use multiple bombs to stay safe, do.

i dont disagree with you saying that just because game design is intentionally bad doesnt make it still bad. in my opinion, isaac has some questionable bad game design decisions as well, such as unlocking items and mechanics that are objectively bad and make the game harder/worse instead of easier or more nuanced.

I genuinely don't think this game is bad. Once I got better, my deaths were all genuinely my fault as I had the knowledge to bypass it but failed in doing so. It's a trial and error game it's not for everybody. It doesn't equate to a bad game though. Spelunky 2 does fix some gripes butts has like Kevin going nuts over enemies attacking him. I also played it recently and it feels like the level rng is better as my dog spawned in random holes in walls less.

I still like watching these but honestly Hutts, if you hate the game so much, you really shouldn't play it, Spelunky 2 is far more complicated then 1 so you will doubly loose it if you play that, game really is not for everyone, but you definitely can play around all of its mechanics if you play smart and carefully Lot of the times I've seen you say one thing or another was not fair or stupid, I just saw how you can easily avoid them, game has steep learning curve and lot of the things may look unfair to you at first but there really isn't anything that's straight unfair, challenging, definitely, unfair? No, not really You still improved a lot since your first time playing but if you just aren't having fun and gonna say thing x/y is unfair or bad game design it just feels like you are just forcing yourself to play it and honestly I don't think many people would want you to do that, sure the whole 'people enjoy watching you suffer' is a thing and all, we all laugh at that, but if you genuinely dislike the game because of how it plays... I dunno
