I dissagre, Sorry if i sound a bit rude but i need to tell you why me and other people love these games. So let imagine 1-1 from Super Mario Bros. When you play this game for the first time you are going to play the game very slowly and you are trying to learn what the game is all about, But what about the second time, or the fifth time, or the the 69th time. You are going to beat the level faster and you become better at the level. Sonic Level design is about that. Back in the day a lot of games where designed by replay value. And that one of the reasons why Sonic games does not take over 5-10 hours to beat. They are desgined to be played again and again and again. As an exampel this area 5:22 is a area most people are going to fall into this trap. But the reason why is because this game does not want you to simply hold right to win. The game want you to be active, You can predict these traps and enemy placements. Now you cant predict all of these areas but that why these games are supposed to be played many times to master the levels. This exampel i showed you is a area that i know is there and i know when im supposed to jump. The Ring system is more forgiving than the power up system from Mario. In Mario when you lose a power up you lose it, Which makes me a lot more carefull when im trying to beat the level fast. In Sonic thanks to the ring system i dont have that problem because when i take a hit i can get some of my rings and go. You dont get slower or jump more sluggish No that not the case. I will reccemond watching, Pariah695, Game Apoligest, Geek Critiqe, To understand why these games are loved. And they go in better detail of how these games are meant to be played.
