I did a media course back in 2018, and really enjoyed the radio programming element of it. When I finished, my parents suggest I make my own podcast and I said I didn't want to. When they asked why I said "because everyone and their mother has one" and that was back in 2019. Now it's so over-saturated I can ask a group of friends who all enjoy the same things what they listen to and I can hear a different answer for everyone. It's a bit saddening as it's mostly over-saturated for capital; like what happened to KZbin before, it's now all about making money. @@Bigred10101I find it weird that people act like "podcasts" is purely people talking self-importantly about life. That's just a genre. Podcast is a medium. It's like someone disliking Star Wars and saying "I really dislike movies because I really don't care for space wizards fighting with laser swords." There are so many genres and very little of the critique in this video applies to those genres. If I'm listening to BBC History Channel and some professor, who is an expert on ... mycenaean culture from about 3000 years ago talking at length about stuff and answering questions from the host... I don't really feel like "authenticity" is of any importance. And even if I don't retain half or even 10% of what was being discussed or that those two hours could have been 10 minutes... who cares. When I read a book, or watch a documentary ... it's never purely about "density of information" or the fact, that I could have just read up on it on Wikipedia or whatever. It's about enjoying the experience. Are podcasts talking about "frames" and "mindsets" by successful people mostly stupid? Sure, but why are we confusing the medium "podcast" with a genre?

The Mind Set Bro also is expert in remaining in 'Frame'. It is amazing how nobody loses their shit, ever......

Mind Set Bro fans believe in the nonsensical Emotional = Irrational therefore you "lose" if you're ever "bothered". Lol

Just want to say I'm enjoying this new style of content, Michael!

Great stuff Michael, I don't like podcasts either, I've tried but to me it's like being at a restaurant and listening to the conversation at the next table. And I have listened to loads of radio programs but those are focused on the audience, not just making sounds for as long as possible.

I enjoyed "it's taken you half an hour to get to the middle of a sentence" a lot.

I was shown a Huel advert featuring Steven Bartlett doing what looked like a podcast about energy drink flavours directly after this. Life and art and all that

And then right after that he probably had some nutritionist on saying processed foods will make your intestines melt. Sponsored by huel.

Holy shit, the mindset bro impersonation was spot on, but the comment about trying to remove U2 15 times from your iTunes was when I felt like someone was spying me.

Great video, you really made some very interesting points. I just wish there was an audio only version that I could pay to download onto my phone and listen to on the bus.

I haven't laughed like this in many months. His frustration with the man who couldn't finish a sentence made me howl with laughter. I don't know who this person is but I am subscribing. Aha! A reasonable human in the age of everyone thinking everything they say means they know what the hell they're talking about

Michael, i was just thinking this. I hope you are working on a book. You have a knack for capturing the (hidden) zeitgeist.

Absolutely brilliant!!!...i havent genuinely laughed that hard in a long time. The Dairy of CEO clip. So much pain (laughing)

Confirmation bias is rife in these podcasts. The ‘mindset bro‘ is my new favourite description of this genre.

Can’t stand most podcasts. They’re like 80% rambling, 10% ads, and then 10% of whatever the topic is
@HeadbangerEats9 ай бұрын
Still don't know where people find 3 hours in a day to listen to podcasts and why they aren't listening to music instead if that's what they listening to while doing chores, going to the gym, etc.

All very good points, I thought it was just me being a grumpy old woman 😂

This was hilarious 😂, spot on tho. The insincerity just burns my ears, especially the diary of a ceo guy, the pods are just glorified ads. It’s not a real conversation

Steven Bartlett is absolutely unbearable and so is his huel advert which is on every single KZbin video.

He's more like Diarrhea of a CEO 😣❔💖 Seriously tho where did he come from and how come everybody is touring his podcast? Who's propping this guy up? Why are they trying to make him a thing? I can understand why Joe Rogan is a thing because he worked 25 years for it, but this Bartlett guy seems to have come out of nowhere. He is a nr. 1 podcaster, he's touring with his podcast, doing Ted talks, writing books, talking to the Obama's, getting a Netflix 2 hour special (probably). He also won the 'Forbes 30 Under 30' in 2020 and if Elizabeth Holmes and Sam Bankman-Fried is the benchmark for those kinda awards then the future looks bright.
