I and other players met the same problem: the console can't play the normal sound with HDMI on TV, only can play the normal sound by using the external speaker connect to the headphone jack. so I would like to know your console, what's your current firmware version?

The yellowing of those old consoles isn't always from smoking. It happens naturally with age. I've heard tell it's mostly UV from sunlight doing what it does, breaking chemical bonds like a divorce attorney for plastics. (Though smoking doesn't help literally anything.) I've also heard tell you can reverse it with some kind of hydrogen peroxide scrub, but never had occasion to do it myself.
@Arion4267 ай бұрын
i can back this up, most polymers aren't UV resistent. It is the same today, the industry only pumps in so much phenyl rings as fillers into the polymers as a protector, that they polymer longer holds its intended color and shape. (since phenyl rings also are UV absorbant and getting distroyed by UV).
@SuperMegaCoffeeGuru7 ай бұрын
Retrobrighting, a mixture of peroxide and distilled water that you soak the plastics in then set in UV light (even sunlight works) for a few hours.

I had a midi keyboard that sit in a box for 4 years in a smoke free room and the keys when from white to straight up yellow 😅 It's some off gassing process that cheap plastics have. Hydrogen peroxide / retrobright works but it also damages the plastics to some extend so you can't do that infinitely.

Heat does it as well. Ive got an 2x Amiga 1200s one on my desk and one that was on a shelf near the radiator, it never that yellowed but I had retrobrited it years ago anyway. My controller cost $70 USD and at the time the lower tier version, the Ultimate 2.4g, didn't have Hall Effect joysticks and didn't have Bluetooth when it launched at $50 USD. Now the Ultimate 2.4g is essentially the same controller but with way wider device compatibility, Hall Effect sticks, Bluetooth and is cheaper. The only difference in features is the Ultimate Bluetooth having an actual pairing button, Gyro support, and Nintendo player indicator lights. Otherwise the Ultimate 2.4g is far and away the better deal.

I'm super excited for Analogue's N64 they're releasing later this year. I've got a stack of N64 games, but I don't have space for a CRT. I could probably grab a Retro-tink (and probably still will at some point), but I'm really interested to see AnalogueOS on the Analogue3D, as I really like AnalogueOS on my Pocket and want to see what people do with it on a much more powerful console with thumbstick support. Also, native 4k support and no region lock. Also also, the 8bit-do controller they tease at the bottom of the Analogue3D page looks pretty great (though I'm actually a bit of a fan of the original n64 controller, even if it might just be nostalgia goggles.)

Turbogrfx is the only console I don’t own any games for. Scouring eBay, those darn games are EXPENSIVE! I would have been more interested to get one if I own games. From my experience with their other SKUs, if you want the best console to play physical games with native digital video out in HDMI, Analogue products are unbeatable. Analogue is working on a N64 compatible product, and I do own a few N64 GamePaks, so I’m definitely interested in that once it’s available for order.

What a convincing title to a product that's the same chips you've been sold four different ways only with an optical drive in it this time. Honestly unless you've got some requirement to plug plastic into plastic, PC Engine's been solved for a decade now, and you can do everything this is doing and more on a $30 used RPi4 1GB. If you step up to the $50 4GB model and apply a minor overclock, it even makes a convincing Dreamcast. If Analogue knew how to scale properly I wouldn't give them so much shit. But they don't, they've been operating on FOMO for at least four generations of FPGA devices now, and it's tiresome to see people buy out their stock to list it for double plus on ebay.
@iiiiii14496 ай бұрын
The turbo switches do not work when the recommended 8bitdo controller is connected directly to the Duo console. This is a terrible oversight in my opinion and nobody else seems to notice it.. And when the controller is paired using the dongle you can't adjust the switches individually. The procedure to adjust the turbo switches is also very tedious and the documentation from both 8bitdo and Analogue on this topic is pretty much worthless.

If Analogue ever make a multi console, that plays the main 8/16/32-Bit consoles and arcade cabs, with real cart and CD support, I'd be very interested, it would have to have realchip audio support though, with legit OPL2/3/MIDI/Chiptune audio hardware built-in, a high-quality audio DAC and DSP, with full 36-Bit analogue video output options, they could get away with a HQ DSP & an all-in-one synth audio processor with specific audio codecs for each system. FPGA is not very good at audio generation, it's great for pre-sampled/sequenced audio, but you need either a fast RISC or X86 CPU for good audio emulation, and better yet a legit audio ASIC or DP, which have processors designed to crunch and process audio properly without artefacts, jitter, clipping, popping, timing issues and so on.

Once you come to terms with those two questions then it's just a matter of ease of use and stuff like that. There has never been a better time to be a gamer. And a big part of that is all these amazing emulators that we have now. You can play pretty much any game for any system whether it be Atari,NES,PS1,Dreamcast,Gamecube and even Switch! Now your more modern consoles (non Nintendo) from around the 8th generation onward don't really have usable emulators yet. But even Xbox 360 and PS3 emulation has come a long way with many games fully playable. Not only are emulators easy to use and more convenient then having a room full of cartridges and discs but they can also make your games look wayyy better than they ever could on the original console. For example 3D systems like the Dreamcast,PS2,Gamecube and Wii run at a resolution of about 640x480. This may have been fine for playing Quake on a CRT on your PC in the late 90s but in today's world with modern flatscreens it looks terrible and muddy. Emulators can increase that resolution to 1080p,4K and even 8K if you have a system and monitor that can handle it. It takes those old blurry games with jagged edges due to poor anti-aliasing and turns them into crisp crystal clear gaming experiences. You will be amazed at just how much better the games look running at such a higher resolution. Even the low res PS1 games running a 320x240 can be cleaned up quite a bit giving you a much better experience than the blocky output of the original console. And it isn't just an increase in resolution that emulators offer they can also allow games to be run in true widescreen mode that never supported it natively. That's right even N64 games can now be played in true widescreen. But it doesn't end there, emulators also allow you to use basically any controller you want for any system. Want to use an Xbox One controller to play N64 and Gamecube? No problem! Or if you want more or an original feel there are a plethora of USB controllers modeled after the original controllers for many systems including 2D retro consoles like the NES and SNES and 3D systems like the N64 and Gamecube. Although why you'd want to force yourself to use an N64 controller is beyond me. Finally is the big question everyone is saying "but Classic80sStuff roms are illegal" Well technically you're right and I'm not going to suggest you go out and download a bunch of roms. But consider this what is a bigger crime? Downloading a game like Panzer Dragoon Saga which has never been re-released in any fashion for play on an emulator? Or forking over up to ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS for an original copy to a seller on Ebay. Keep in mind none of the original developers are getting any money from an Ebay sale. So while I can't go tell you to go download roms I'd suggest you use your best judgement. If you liked this comment, look for me in other random videos. I'm the guy who types wayyy too long comments that 90 percent of people won't read. Until next time, keep those tape heads clean and de-magnetized!

Also you say the FPGA is emulation. Depending on what they did, it should be a 1:1 hardware descriptor using circuitware. Emulation is done in software. Circuitware is not software. If they are able to copy the hardware descriptor sufficiently, then it is the same as if they had that. Remember when various companies moved their systems from discrete components to a system on chip but had the same compatibilities? You didn't call that emulation and it was basically the same.
