Honestly, really excited for what the next generation of these handhelds are gonna look like. 9000 series Ryzen that is. 8000 series is basically confirmed to be just a refresh. Basically no real notable difference.

The GPD win 4 had a 7840U refresh and they all 7840U models basically function the same. Though the Win4 and Win Max 2 have better end battery life when full power stressing

I though the VHS box might be a little off scale, but then I remembered, oh, it's Linus...

I wonder how fast the push-mechanism fails on this thing. And i would hope they release their software (overlay, special buttons, etc) for linux, so you had a real steam deck competitor (anything that runs windows isn’t). Great to see companies push these devices, it’s always good to have options 👍

I so very much like that it has hall effect joysticks. How else could you buy a unit with non-swappable sticks?

The packaging actually resembles more a BetaMax tape bcs of the stripes in orange and purple, much like the Dynamicron tapes.

8:45 I’m pretty sure that this is just a bug that happens with doom eternal. When I used to play it, it sometimes either booted up and made the screen res like 640p, or did that after the game was closed.

Linus: "I would have put the fan curve a bit lower even though there's little noise" Linus after trying out silent mode: "okay the device is becoming uncomfortably warm" I don't always agree with how fan curves are optimized, but from what I can tell this means anayeo has done a spot on job of balancing cooling and noise.

Looks ok and I do like the keyboard but ill stick with my Legion Go which seems far superior to this and is definitely the best handheld gaming PC out at the moment. Very strange to see there was a little hate for the Go imo now that it's had loads of updates since launch it's even better than the Ally. May he has buyers remorse so has to defend his purchase?
@Battuta220811 ай бұрын
It’s really not the best! Every decent reliable tech KZbinrs recommends the ally instead of the go.
@Matt-or9bj11 ай бұрын
@@Battuta2208 i think thats because on launch (just like the ally on launch) the drivers were lacking which cost performance, the sticks dead zones were rubbish and few others things but most things have been fixed now with active weekly updates from the Lenevo team. Put it head to head now and Go will start coming up on top. But I get it, its personal preference. I haven't used an ally but I've had a steam deck and the Go is better in nearly every way.

Ooof, good catch. Gotta wonder why they didn't highlight that in all-caps, all-bold 120 typeface, in their press sheet. PRODUCTION UNIT WILL HAVE TOUCHSCREEN.

I don't know why they keep shooting at legion go. The thing is flying off the shelve here and I see it in the wild quite often in things like highschools . Maybe cause the rog ally isn't in physical stores here and the legion go is, and the rog ally has a hefty 'eu conversion tax' and the steamdeck and the legion go don't.

Not sure if I'm right but it looks like Linus is playing Doom with the second knuckle of his thumb on the right stick instead of the tip of the thumb. I've never seen this and now I wonder if anybody else does this? I can see the advantage but it looks uncomfortable

is it just me or is the audio weird. some pumping in the low mids and weird cutoffs at the end of words, not just sentences. seems like they tried to cut out the reverb of the room, but didnt quite get the settings right

How does the sleep/lock function work though? Does it have some sort of lower power, screen off mode, like a phone would? I usually get calls from my desktop, rather than paying for cell services. Would be nice to still have the ringer able to go off when the the screen is off.

Am I the only one who would prefer a 720p screen on this with either higher refresh rate or longer battery life? Pixel density is plenty high on that little screen.
