They're currently ever so subtly and microscopically "rugby curious", we should be pouncing on that, "yep, here is some rugby for you, it is called the NRL, it is like the NBA of rugby". That is how you attack this. Not "it's not rugby, it's league!!!!", that will only make americans say "oh... my mistake... bye" and then they will go find "real rugby". They're not interested in some fandangled crap they never heard of. They MIGHT, maybe some small number of them, be curious about rugby. Therefore, we should be competing with union to claim "rugby" and feed the NRL to americans as Rugby. It pains me watching all these short-sighted fools sabotage league over and over and over again. Go easy on them - Rugby (Union) has made huge inroads as a school sport in the US but League is virtually unknown. The NRL is hoping to change that. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugby_union_in_the_United_States FWIW, I thought Canadians played American football but it's different - Canadian football had its origins in Rugby. If the NRL can establish a following in North America, they will be competing in a very crowded market.
