@kennythekid1308 ай бұрын
If you want to talk about the biggest surprise on the knicks, you HAVE TO talk about Isaiah Hartenstein! Ever since Mitchell Robinson got injured (15 games), Hartenstein is averaging 8.4 PPG/10.3 RPG/2.5 APG with 1.5 Steals and 1.8 Blocks a game. During that span, He is the only player in the entire NBA to be top 10 in both Steals and Blocks. If you look at only the month of January (since the OG trade), he is even better averaging 10.5 PPG/13.5 RPG/2.8 APG with 2.3 Steals and 3.0 Blocks a game!!! His Blocks and Steals per game numbers in January are BOTH 2nd in the NBA (THIS IS CRAZY) with the only other player even in the top 10 of both being Tyrese Hailburton. His advanced stats for the whole season are also shockingly great as he is 2nd in the entire NBA in Offensive Rebound % and 1st in dEPM (Defensive Estimated Plus-Minus) one of the most well regarded defensive stats. He is playing like the most versatile center in the NBA and NO ONE outside of knicks fans talks about it. You GOTTA make a video about him.

When you see OG, Hart, and Grimes on the court together, you’re in for a stretch were scoring becomes damn near impossible. We’re keeping teams to 100.6 ppg since the trade. Chicago was leading by 4 at half on us and in the last 6 minutes of that game, they were stuck on 95 points until Coby White hit an inconsequential 3 when the game was out of reach. The Sixers got their ish pushed in. We gave Embiid fits and Maxey was only effective using his speed. We held them to 92 points. OG put Anthony Edwards AND KAT in jail when he was guarding them. You don't need to throw up 15-20 points to be effective. His fit with this Knicks team is everything we've needed because he's an unselfish player who's an efficient 3pt shooter and gets easy points by cutting to the basket.

OG completely unlocks Brunson and Randle to their limits since he doesn't require the ball in his hands the way RJ does. OG "was" the most underrated player in the league, I'm not really sure why or how, but now that all the spotlight is on him, the people can see him for the true talent that he is! I am a Raptors fan and I remember distinctively that every single time OG was out of the lineup with injury the raptors would badly struggle for wins. At the time you think ok he can't be that impactful, not when his numbers are not the greatest, but in reality the man brings so much more to the court that meets the eyes.
@mk21_8 ай бұрын
Great video, all these points are true. The spacing is much better, OG’s ability to impact the game without dominating the ball is huge. Him being an elite on-ball defender, with size, who can defend 1 through 4, is huge for this team. Also, the Knicks roster had a lot of redundancy. Randle, JB, RJ, and IQ (to an extent) need the ball in their hands to impact the game. RJ does what Julius does, except not as well. Quickley does what Brunson does, except not as well. The roster construction is vastly improved now.

Minor quibble, OG can and often has guarded one through five at an elite level, sometimes in back to back games. In that narrow criterion alone he could significantly improve many teams, which partly explains why so many teams have been trying to acquire his services, and why the Raptors had up until this point declined all offers. The Knicks had more need of said services than some teams, far more than the Raptors,who are loaded with long versatile defenders. Pascal Siakam and Scottie Barnes can and have guarded one through five at an elite level, and can and have also played one through five. OG was a blessing much appreciated, and will be missed, but the Raptors needed help in other areas... and got it with this trade.

If you watched RJ with the Knicks he was not good fit as a third option. Too many times he was out on the perimeter, with his hands out waiting to get the ball and if he got it, he would force a bad shot on many occasions. He played selfishly in his attempt to "get his" IMO. He's not a bad player but he has his limitations. OG gives them more balance and elite defense on the perimeter obviously which the Knicks desperately needed, stretches the floor, and plays well off the ball which is something Barrett has not learned yet. Americans are just discovering what Canadians have known for years. The repeated ignorance from so called analysts calling Raptors fans unrealistic for 'overvaluing' our players, and insults towards Ujiri for demanding too much in return for his players, just goes to show you how deep the anti-Foreign bias goes in the NBA. This trade is the best case scenario for both teams. Anunoby opens up the paint to allow your facilitators to work not just by spacing the floor, but by covering the otherside of the ball whenever misses or turnovers happen. Likewise, RJ and IQ add actual offensive facilitation to a team that has stagnated offensively every year since the Chip. I honestly think the Raptors have a chance to make the playoffs this year.

Meanwhile the Raps just took a blowtorch to the Dubs on their own floor, with RJ sinking 37 on 13 for 20. Barnes only scored 6 points and we still waxed 'em. I thought it was pretty obvious from rip that this was a win/win trade for both teams, who've both gotten EXACTLY what they needed at their current stages of development. That said, I didn't expect both teams to improve as much as they have. Good to see tho...most Raps fans will always have love for OG, so I'm delighted to see him fitting in like a glove and getting a brighter light on his game. As for us, we still gotta figure this Siakam thing out...either gotta extend him or deal him. But having a team that's fun to watch again has been a victory in itself.

He is that guy who opposing players have nightmares about because he is really strong, plays the passing lanes well and plays off ball really well. Can spot up and shoot to open up the floor for a guy like Randle. So the production of RJ and Quick is being spread around 3 players and the defense is much better

I'm surprised you didn't mention the GERMAN GIANT!!! He's been a monster. Not just rebounds but steals and blocks!!

I love how Hartenstein was in a lot of these highlights but the youtuber didn't even say his name as if OG was making those plays and not Hartenstein

OG reminds me of Larry Johnson type of player. If thats the case....then we're in great shape 😂

Well....I'm not as upset as Stephan A. is. They got OG at a better deal than Toronto was asking last summer. He seems to be a catalyst for everything that is going right for the Knicks defensively AS WELL as offensively. As much as I liked RJ, OG spreads the court better because of his corner 3 efficiency. Deuce stepping up was a great surprise. I had my doubts but I'm a believer now!

Stephen Ass does not know what he is talking about. OG is a great fit on Knicks and will get better when Mitchell Robinson gets back. When I watch OG play he does all the little things needed to win.

Not all role players are created equal. And OG is a championship caliber role player. Which is to say, put him in any starting 5 with one superstar and he will make them a contender.
@waynedickson68608 ай бұрын
The Knicks wanted this guy for this role. They paid the price he was listed for by Toronto. Stop comparing the trade, cause you lost that one based on price paid, but focus on a great defender you would otherwise never would have had.

Those that were unhappy with this trade, don’t know Ball! INCLUDING SAS!
@cheetah2198 ай бұрын
The people who criticized this trade didn't understand why the Knicks were struggling. It's fairly obvious and the media tried to spin this as a bad trade (SAS once again going on his cringe monologues) Barrett wasn't getting better and was a cone on defense. He consistently missed open layups and open 3s in crucial near crunch time moments. IQ was doing extremely well and was becoming a solid point guard but he wants to be a starter and it's definitely clear he was putting in the work. He deserves a shot to start at pg, but there was no room on the Knicks flooded with guards. if IQ could commit to a bench role, he is a critical piece for a championship team. OG solves the Barrett problem with defense and really the trade was for IQ for OG with kickers. Nobody got fleeced here or gave up too much. People are heavily over estimating what Barrett has done for the Knicks the last few years because of what he did at Duke, decent stats, and draft position. RJ isn't a bust but the Knicks are too small with 25 guards on the team. Og takes off pressure for Randle to guard the 5 which is why his offense is exploding. Brunson can run the floor without worrying about giving touches to IQ. Grimes, Mcbride can show if they can make up IQ's production and if not they're next. This isn't the knicks' final form, they are looking for a big 3 or a more robust bench to push for a chip next year. They need a high octane shooting guard or dominate lanky big man like sengun or chet.

The whole team is playing much better as a unit and putting up wins. I think the Knicks will finish their season as a top 5 team in their conference.

Everybody talking about OG but I knew the Knicks won the trade when they got Achiuwa in the deal. That's all the Knicks needed is a big man to back up Randle. Now the Knicks could put Hart back to his right position.

Not really surprised by much, I didn't think we'd lock teams up to 100ppg but I knew we'd loo more complete. Good stuff.

Spacing and flow are what I have also noticed. The Knicks still need another offensive wing that can be a quality 3rd option.

I seen it since day 1. OG is a brick wall. He's built like a tank and is even stronger. In so glad he got to go somewhere to be a difference maker.

This will go down in Knicks history as one of the most professional but beneficial trades for all parties involved. It was a win win and I'm hoping getting Dejounte Murray is next which I think takes the Knicks to the next level in contending for the Championship.

If they played toilet level teams during this small sample of games, I would blow all of this off as nothing of note and while yes, we all need to see more to actually give a real opinion, they won, on the road, againt a pretty good Philly team by over 30 points and beat the best team in the West- The Timberwolves

Raptors fan here, OG is great - he does a lot of the intangibles that don't always show up on the stat sheet. I feel both Knicks & Raptors got better with this trade.
@rockonileva8 ай бұрын
Win Win - the raptors got one less expiring to worry for - Maybe they have some pieces to build around Pascal... But I still feel that they didn´t get too much value in a rebuild perspective. If they keep up with this new rhythm and get into the playoffs, maybe they can convince pascal to stay. But still this is kinda risky. The Knicks got OG, the wing defender they desperately needed, without giving away any valuable draft capital. Quickley was a tough loss, but they have assets to get some juice for the bench. They are doing great, Julius is having an amazing stretch... I really hope to see them get a deep run this year!

Don’t sleep on Precious either. He is a hell of a defender. He hasn’t really unlocked himself cause he has a hard time figuring the difference between cocky and confident IMO.

I see in your report it's all about the Knicks, and I'm glad things are working out but the impact Barrett and Quickley are having with the Raptors is earth shaking as well. RJ 37pts just last night, great trade both teams are winning with their decisions to upgrade their team.

Ive been a Knicks fans all my life (43) and I cant remember when a Knicks offense was this fluid. If its not 2 or 3 passes to a wide open shooter its our Big 2, Brunson/Randle being aggressive with a positive outcome. The Houston / Sprewell teams were great and the Patrick Ewing Era was historic, but the team as of right now is something different.

The knicks basically took the 2 guys they had, fused them together, added an inch, longer wingspan, and made him less ball dominant 😂. In all seriousness its a win-win for both teams
