I don’t want the chassis to rust on my DIY Supercar: Prototype Ep8

This is a RE-UPLOAD due to a copyright claim made by Epidemic Sound. I didn’t use ANY music from this company, however a clip I used from another KZbin video did. So I’ve had to remove the music and replace it with some copy right free music.
If I’m going to design and build my own Supercar, I want it to last, meaning I don’t want the chassis to rust away. So I want to make sure I avoid some other design mistakes that other manufacturers have done.
We will also cover the fuel tanks in this episode.
Although I have an interest in kit cars, including Lamborghini replicas, Ferrari replicas, McLaren P1 Replicas and other self-made kit car of other marques, like Porsche, ford GT40 and the AC Cobra, I have always wanted to build my own unique brand, which I call the Cerberus VMR6.

Hey nice video but i have a question. Why didn't you build the car with fiberglass instead of wood? Seems like a much better option. And much easier too. You would just need to build the car on a 3d software make a mold of styrofoam using a CNC machine and basically cover it with fiberglass.

Yes, there were a few reasons, first was one of cost. The 3D CNC machine fiberglass route was extremely expensive, in fact so much so that it was impossible for me to pay for. And secondly this is a working plug, meaning the everything works on this car like a finished car, for example the electric windows and locks. You can't do this with a Styrofoam block, as it's just for visual use and not a mechanical test. And lastly I had to engineer the car first, before the styling. For example I had to make everything fit, such as the seating, steering, engine and gearbox, and once that was established build the bodywork around the chassis. There's a few other problems as well, but I'll go into those as I make more episodes.

Great work. Dare i mention i have been looking at the Midlana site for a mid engine design, which is critical of the locost approach to chassis design and suspension mountings. I have a rusty MGF which needs a home for the mechanicals, and a cure for some of the MGF design failings on cooling and aerodynamics. I like the way you are using Audi rear suspension which means you dont have to build a new rear suspension, and Midlana seems to need a lot of new build parts.

Thanks, yes I think using the Audi rear suspension should help keep the cost down if I ever get a completed kit developed for sale.
