Salaams. Im on the verge of leaving Islam. Ive tried throughout my whole life and recent problems have only made my situation worse. I've consulted people and tried to take on their advice, but hasn't exactly worked out for me. Maybe Islam is just not for me, I understand that it can make some people better but for me as a result of this deen, I've become a paranoid overthinker who is constantly scared of the wrath of God and makes me have the feeling that whatever makes me happy is haram. The only reason why I haven't left is because at the end of the day it does give me peace and contentment in a way knowing that all my efforts won't go to waste on this earth. But so far and for a long time it hasn't been good at all

Hey dude if you're still around to read this just know I was in your position a long time ago and still have my doubts today which I see as my own jihad (struggle). Tbh we live in a very salafi influenced and quite frankly key stage 2 philosophy age of Islam and there is a big difference between the wiggle room the actual religion gives compared to what fearful islamic scholars and by extension our culture (not religion, culture) as Muslims. I'm not saying the haram is halal and vice versa and i don't to make light of sin but a lot of that paranoia you're feeling is the superficial surface of Islam, keep asking questions, look deeper and if you even study the early caliphates and islamic scholars you'll see that in a lot of ways the Muslims of that time were a lot less dogmatic and insecure about their faith. End of the day God is not the disagreements we have between this or that, or an imam telling you you're going to hell for missing prayer, Allah is mercy. I pray that your path brings you closer to peace my friend and whatever path you choose I pray Allah grants you mercy and peace in this life.

I too go through this thing continuously. I don't feel I should be a Muslim. I belong to sub continent and I also feel my heritage is so rich and so expansive that following an Arab religion feels like a treachery to my true self. abdi qadir I went to a meeting in 1982 I was surprised to see in this house church people lifting their hands and worshiping Jesus as a Catholic Jesus was not given much importance but mother Mary , most Catholics never pray to God we are taught that God is our father but Mary our earthly mother one who is kind and understood our sins like a mother she will pity but fathers are hard and angry 😡 So we catholic’s say the Rosary and always pray to mother Mary and saints this is the truth and this is honestly what I use to do but... All that changed in this meeting I closed my eyes and was cursing why I came here since all these people were lifting their hands and worshiping Jesus ... which as a Catholic we never lift hands in public I began to slowly look around secretly not wanting anyone one to see me so I kept my hand covering my eyes and to my big surprise no one was looking around they were all genuinely praying 🙏 To make a long story short I knelt down and suddenly I saw Jesus in a vision and his presence filled me with such love I never experienced ever!!! My parents could not change me My teachers could not change me I was the black sheep of my family .... But Jesus saved and changed me I left Catholicism and stopped praying to idols in fact broke them I was born again!! Jesus made me that! He said if a man or women is not born again he or she will never enter into heaven ... I have eternal life because Jesus forgave me and saved me Jesus is the way truth and the Life no one comes to the father except through him! John14:6

Urduban In Christianity, the Bible says , not everyone that says Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven. It means that just because you live in a Christian environment, not everyone that says Christian with their mouth,has Christ in their heart. Some who are raised in Christian homes ,may have it in their heads,but not in their hearts. Either because they weren’t taught well or it’s the will of the individual that doesn’t except it. Christianity is in the minds of the westerns , as if your talking patriotism. In fact from the beginning of the States it did,but so many have lost sight of both. You may not have ever met a follower of Christ. You may have met religious people, but those who truly know their relationship with God came through the covering of Christ’s blood.
