C’mon? The cinematography of the opening seconds, alonee. Her view is staring up into nothingness- like she’s not mentally/physically present, lost in deep thought. Then with his words and voice, the trance is instantly broken. We join her in the descent she makes from dreaming, to reality. We watch her being brought “back to life”.

Anna Karenina is not a Rom Com. It is a drama , or tragedy , based on the classic novel of the same name. It’s tragic, not comedic.

Tragic. By not denying themselves carnal pleasure, they destroyed themselves and caused so much unhappiness.

No, it was far more to her than carnal pleasures. If it was only that, I'm sure she could have easily withstand him. But she was lacking love. She didn't love her husband and her husband didn't understand her. Karenin cared for her but he didn't take her seriously, constantly belitteling her in the process, as if she was a little girl. Being married to him must have felt as if her soul was slowly dying, like a flower that is deprived of sunlight and water. And if you feel like you're slowly dying inside, of course you fall easily for anything that makes you feel alive again. If you're thirsty enough, you'll drink anything, even the salt water you know will kill you in the end. And Wronsky was careless. He didn't see or didn't want to see how big the repercussions of his little conquest would be for her. He wanted the forbidden fruit at all cost and took a far bigger bite than he could chew.

At first, I thought it's not Anna's fault to fall in love to someone else, bcoz she had a cold and ignorant husband. But turned out, her husband cared for her and even did try to save her. Remind her, even apologized to her if he had mistake. The prince himself asked if he should go away from her, but she said no 😑😑 .. She was so trapped in her own devil lust

her husband was cold and ignorant and boring. not because he didn’t love her, but because he was unable to love her and understand her in way she could glow in life. also, although she did have chances to avoid her misfortunes, those misfortunes existed merely because of the cruelty and hypocrisy of society. a man could have countless mistresses throughout his lifetime without his reputation being tarnished or children taken away from him, but a woman would have been destroyed by an affair. her ‘loving’ husband, besides being unable to effectively and humanely express his love, would only save her by putting her back into her prison and have her thank him for it.

@@forreal2624 but as far as i remember, he also offered to take her child away and never permit her to see him. also, his love was a cold and sterile one. he wasn’t a warm person; also a preachy, sanctimonious one. basically, they’re a bad match. ideally, he could have told her that he wanted the best for her and encouraged her to seek out her happiness and disregard losing the fruitless delights of an evil society.

@@monicaalexandru9638 So what you’re saying is he had to stay married to her? Also in the book he isn’t a cold, sterile person. He takes in her child in the end and provides for it. You’re just making up things to make him look worse. His character isn’t even bad. They’re a bad match right? So why didn’t she leave him? Why did she flaunt her lover in front of everyone and deeply hurt her husband? What did he do to deserve that? Are you seriously this delusional?

@@forreal2624 oh. jesus….. first of all, i was talking about the movie, second of all, i didn’t say she had to stay married to him at all. i was talking about how it would have mattered more for things to be handled differently. thirdly, i don’t know if i’m invested enough or have the energy to write a gigantic reply detailing my opinion, reply which will probably still not convince you of anything and possibly, i repeat, possibly, even lead you to insult me in a further reply. so, believe what you believe, and sincerely, have a happy life.
