The way to do this with a scooter is to tell DD you are using a bicycle. That way all your trips will be limited to 1 mile max, but that also means you'll have to be D.T (where all the bussiness building are) because everywhere else the milage will probably be greater than 1 mile, so you won't get an offer.

$63 for 8 hours, minus in-n-out and water is pretty close to $50 for 8 hours. then you will owe like 30% as an independent contractor, so about 31.10 takeaway for 8 hours of work. so you earned about $3.88 an hour

granted if he's on a razor scooter can't take the mileage deduction. but there's no reason any 1099 gig worker should owe taxes. Or at worst your tax liability should be a tiny fraction of what you earn. like... i dunno if he bought that scooter while in CA. business expense. that go bag, the portable charger... expense-able... meals (bike messengers typically can expense food when physical labor is used to power your transportation) not to mention any time he's driving his car. standard mileage deduction. 20% general qualified business deduction. health insurance costs, home office. cell phone, cellphone plan. if he was smart. he wouldn't have eaten with his friend, discussed door dash ---business lunch. if the flight was for business. deductible. since he's also on youtube. opens up a range of other deductions he could claim because of that. there's dozens of ways to write down your tax liability. to nearly zero or operating at a loss as far as uncle sam is concerned. (hell hire a crafty accountant... that fee is also tax deductible)

That he bought lunch doesn't change the fact he earned X amt in Y hours. by this logic, no one makes min wage as we all spend our money on necessities and comfort items. on most of his more serious videos he typically earns 200-500 ish in an 8-10 working shift.
