I ordered Dahlia tubers last year and has them planted in my flower beds. They looked great while the lasted. Then this last fall the wild pigs came through and tore up my beds, eating my tubers as they went and all of my lawn. I spent all winter long putting everything back together.

I live about 30 minutes from Swan Island Dahlias and their tubers are awesome! Their fields are open for the entire month of August and strolling through acres of blooming Dahlias is a dahlia lovers dream. I highly recommend. You should add "Spoiled Rotten" to you list of must grow for pure joy! Spoiled Rotten will thrill you!

Last year my two favorites were Zingaro (a Walmart special) and Hollyhill Black Beauty. I was shocked I would like the dark maroon of Holleyhill, but it was gorgeous! This year I'm excited to see how Day Dreamer, White Swan, Crichton Honey and Teddy look. Fingers crossed some of the tubers survive!

Dahlias are very pretty, long lasting summertime flowers. Easy care too. I get why you are so enamored of them. As I may have mentioned earlier, I grow them in containers and are attempting to preserve the tubers in my basement over the winter for a spring replanting

I live about an hour from Swan Island, but had never been there until this Fall. I took my mom up for their festival and ended up with 17 new varieties. I fell in love with collarette and orchid styles, but only allowed myself 2 this year. I am anxiously anticipating Star Child and Pooh! I will pos pictures I took and tag you on Instagram. Thanks Nicole! This will be my third year at attempting to grow dalhias. Here in hot and humid Louisiana zone 8b I've had a hard time trying to grow these!!! This year at Christmas someone told me dalhias need shade which blew my mind since they're full sun flowers. So this year, I'll be making a shade cloth structure to cover the dalhias from the afternoon sun. I'm dreaming of dalhias with you! Hopefully this will be my year to not just dream of dalhias, but to be able to offer them to my wonderful customers. Wish me luck!! I'm new to dahlias, startng last year with 50 tubers of 6 varieties. One variety was American Sun and I think you will be happy with it. The color realy popped out among the others in the patch. Haven't really picked a favorite yet. This will be my first year full-time in the gardens so I'll have the time to focus in on the qualities of the individuals. I'll be forcing a lot of last years tubers soon and take cuttings to root. Found a couple of unlabeled clumps from last year in the basement that never made it into cool storage. I stuck those in a tray on the heat mat and already have mystery sprouts almost ready to cut and root. They will produce side shoots that can be cut for even more starts. Nice to have time to make lots of free plants.

I ordered several of the same varieties you did from Swan Island and am excited to see them grow and flower, but the one I'm anticipating the most is one I grew for the first time last year - Mingus Alex. This dahlia is floriferous and produces the most gorgeous burgundy red blooms with velvety petals. It looks amazing with zinnias like Envy and Queen Lime Blush, anything chartreuse or golden, and even with peach tones. They absolutely glow in the garden, and I got a lot of good sized tubers when I dug it up for storage the end of October.

Ordered Cornel Bronze last year from Leo Berbee but just got notification they needed to substitute, we are getting Natal instead. From Swan I ordered Ahoy Matey, Frank Holmes, Mikayla Miranda. My free one is Polventon Supreme. From Five Fork Rock Run Ashley, Bo-De-O, Cornel, Labyrinth, Snoho Sonia. Can't wait to see how they turn out. First year growing in Zone 6a.

Rebecca Lynn was my favorite dahlia from Swan last year. Koko Puff is also a fun one. They are both on the shorter side, fyi. You should check out Junkyard Dog. I think they are rebuilding stock though, but in my top 5 favorites out of the 140 I grew last year ❤. I think you picked a lot of good ones!
