I have a HUGE Mandela effect regarding Jeannie's sister! My first introduction to Jeannie's sister was when I was about 5 years old and I thought it was the neatest thing ever that she looks just like Jeannie but has brown hair!! I vividly remember her sister's distorted image being shown through a prism of Jeannie's bottle as she is saying, "Help! Let me out! Let me out!" I remember her dark hair and green outfit being visible but distorted. But oddly no such scene exists!!! NOW, I know there is a scene like that with JEANNIE being seen through a prism saying, "Let me out!" after her sister trapped her in the bottle. What's REALLY odd is there is a PERFECT opportunity for the scene I remember, when Tony traps Jeannie's sister in the bottle, and right before Roger lets her out, that would have been a prefect opportunity for her to be seen through a prism saying, "Let me out!!" I wonder if that was a cut scene

I'm not sure. Maybe since Jeannie's sister wasn't in the bottle for very long they didn't feel it necessary to show her in it. Roger came right in and took the bottle out of Major Nelson's hands and opened it back up.

I remember it showing her sister through a prism and I asked my mom "WHO IS THAT ONE?!?" My mom was like, "That's her sister" lol. The real truth is, the magic wasn't in the editing or the "hidden" wires. The real magic was in the fact that the resolution of television in the 60's and 70's was so bad you just couldn't see the wires. Another thing I realized that we often saw these little mistakes but didn't really care. We just accepted them and went on. Probably because we were so drunk on Barbara Eden. :D

The wife’s name is Sue Ellen which just happens to be J R Ewings (Larry Hagman) wife’s name in Dallas! Weird!

The boom mic shows up so much on this show, it should be mentioned in the credits. 🎤 There is another blooper in "Operation First Couple On the Moon". In a scene between Jeannie and Tony, Tony is wearing a brown suit in the wideshot but he is wearing his uniform in his closeups.

It's pretty funny how Milton Berle played a con artist trying to go after Jeannie's King Tut Scarab, and would play on Batman during the same 1967-1968 season, as Louie the Lilac, a Villain, to whom King Tut is also a Villain on Batman as well.

In the episode about Bootsie Nightengale, the location of the ball where everyone is dancing looks to be Maj Nelson’s patio with some modifications. Also, in the season 3 episode, ‘My Son, the Genie,’ at the very beginning of the episode, or the first 5 minutes, the location of Jeannie’s bottle is moved from the desk near the window when she’s seen coming out, over to its usual location on the bargueno desk against the wall when Harold arrives. Also, in the season 2 episode, “There Goes The Best Genie I Ever Had,” when Tony and Jeannie are in his bedroom discussing the beauty contestants, Tony’s voice is clearly dubbed when he says, ‘Miss Atom Bomb.’ His voice is also dubbed in the episode, “What’s New, Poodle Dog?,”when he’s on the phone with Miss Atom Bomb at the end of the episode.

Found elsewhere... "The episodes spread out over four weeks, during which a contest was held to guess the safe's combination. This explains why Larry Hagman is never seen saying the combination out loud: His mouth is hidden behind the safe or the shot is on Jeannie when he says it. The combination was not decided until just before the episode aired, with Hagman's voice dubbed in. Over the closing credits, Barbara Eden announced and congratulated the contest winner, with 4-9-7 as the winning combination."

The olive green was used because it showed up on b&w TV's much better than white or any other color. Notice how many shows used it back in the 60's. Keep in mind not everyone owned a color TV set.

Also, I suspect that a certain shade of green house paint showed up well on American TV sets in the 60s because when The Andy Griffith Show went to its color seasons we notice that a lot of rooms are a mint green hue, a pastel color. Either it looked good on TVs back then or Paramount had accidentally bought a load of the stuff, ha ha.

Season 3 (in my opinion), felt like a step back from season 2 and especially season 1 (my favorite season), I have so many problems with this season, Jeannie's orgin change was unnecessary. If you didn't know, Jeannie's orgin in seasons 1 and 2 was told as a Human woman who refused to marry the Blue Djinn, and as a punishment, she was turned into a Genie, to break the curse, she had to marry a human and had a birthday, on July 1st or April 1st, but in Season 3, her orgin was changed to always being a Genie. Although Barbara was great ad Jeannie II, her appearing in 5 Episodes felt like overkill (especially in part 3), I never liked the 4 parter of the safe, it really could've been done in 2. The two Hawaii episodes (not the Milton Berle episode), were just okay, the Haunted Castle Episode was okay as well. Remember when Tony got amnesia from a pot accidentally hitting him on the head? Just use Jeannie in literally the same basic plot and hope it works. Even though that episode is funny, it still feels like a rip off of something that we've already seen, just with a different character. I can see why Larry Hagman got upset, especially he talked about season 3 as the worst, constant use of the same scripts, which is why he even asked for more money. All in all Season 3 is a good season, it's definitely clunky and for the most part from a creative standpoint, it felt like they didn't know where to go with Jeannie's new orgin. It's definitely not the worst season, season 5 holds that honor. Also, Ted Cassidy was the original voice of The Incredible Hulk and Narriator of The Incredible Hulk TV Series, he sadly died during the middle of the shows history.

These are great videos. I have loved Barbara Eden since I was 5 years old. I have met her 3 times now, and once dressed as the Blue Djinn. I have one correction for you for this video. You are correct when you say Ronald Long will appear once more in the fifth season. However, he appears just before the wedding episode, as the eldest son of the 7th son, Uncle Azmire. He is there to make the decision weather or not Maj Nelson is suitable to marry Jeannie.

The whole Belly Button thing in the 60's I think was just weird. I noticed on Star Trek TOS some stars could show it and some couldn't. I remember one episode had Lee Meriwether and the costume was made to cover her belly button.

Thank you! There used to be a CD that had Star Trek sound effects that you can probably find on ebay. The blink sound was used in cartoons a lot and there may be that particular sound available online or on CD somewhere as well. Season 5 is coming out today! It's an hour long so sit back, relax and enjoy! 😁

Now _this_ series of videos is thorough .... like, Masters thesis thorough. ;-) I do prefer the bigger reveals and errors rather than the myriad boom mic appearances, but I won't make a meal of that since someone else here in the comments already did. I am enjoying this series, along with your Lost in Space ones. Seems such a labor of love in its way. I enjoy IDOJ tremendously, but when I do watch it these days usually I no longer watch the Moon Safe arc (it's a long, dull stretch, really just a big promotional stunt, and even Tony's wacky turn as ice cream dude can't save it); also, I can barely tolerate the cycle in which Roger keeps trying to reveal the birth date. Ugh, it's not good.🤣 I have to know, so I'm asking IDOJ fans here: What are the lyrics to that song Jeannie sings from time to time? LOL, all I know is that it begins with five syllables and then she sings "ya ha bee bee". You know the tune I mean. I wonder if Sidney Sheldon came up with it, or maybe Barbara Eden did. It's fun to learn things about the show. I've read Barbara's book about the show, and watched separate interviews of her and of Larry and Bill. Interesting to hear behind the scenes goings on and such. Hagman must have been really interesting to work with, ha ha. But the man could do some fantastic pratfalls and slapstick and so on. I love the Paul Lynde episodes. He's always a hoot in this series. "RendezVOUS!" Oh, and I love when he is the director at the end of his rope and asks Jeannie for the time, and she says "It is nine thirty" and he yells "LUNCH!!" to the crew. So funny. Lastly, I heard that the blu rays were not a huge improvement over the DVD releases. This has me curious. But frankly nothing could top how the show looks currently on Amazon Prime. Dazzling and clear, very impressive for film that's my age. But for some reason season 5 is "Rent or Buy" only--- not included with Prime. Odd! Thanks!

My recollection (from 60 years ago) of the Jennie-locked-in-the-safe episodes is the contest was to guess Jennie's birthday. The arc of the story had to do with figuring out Jennie's birth date not the safe combination. I almost hope I'm wrong because that would be some pointless crap to keep in my brain all this time.

There was a 4 part episode in season 2 that was about Jeannie's birthday that I talk about in the season 2 video. I didn't think there was a contest for that but I could be wrong. I know there was a contest for the safe episodes because you can tell from them hiding Larry's mouth since they didn't know what the combination would be yet while filming that episode. Plus these episodes were a year later from the birthday episodes.

Season 2 had the 4 part birthday arc, season 3 had a 4 episode arc of the safe combination, and season 4 had a 4 week contest to wonder where Tony was sent to in the 2 parter The Case of My Vanishing Master, unlike other contests, the the answer wasn’t revealed into the story itself, but was revealed in a “contest epilogue” as a sort of tag at the end of “Invisible House for Sale”.

Jeannie or The Tiger is a weird episode in effects. The whole episode is just off in effects. The blinks are just a tad off key in some instances, as you showed, Jeannie II’s blink sound effect is heard way too fast, in the scene where Jeannie II summons Jeannie to get out of her bottle there is a new shot of Jeannie getting up from her bed inside the bottle, but in the next shot it is clearly a stock footage shot of Jeannie getting up, again, it’s very blink and you miss it, but it’s there, in the same scene Jeannie just appears in the next shot and her sound effect is a tad late, and it doesn’t look any better, as it is clearly edited badly, as it looks like it was taken right after the director said “action” Barbara’s arms drop down as well. In another scene where it appears earlier in the same episode, there is a weird split shot at green smoke, but it’s so badly edited, that it blends into the next scene for about 6 seconds, before it slowly fades away. A very weird editing and special effects episode.

Not an error - but it always bugged me in the Boyce and Hart episode that Barbara never actually hit the drums. They should have just had her actually hitting the drums and then dubbed the whole thing over. It looks terrible when she's just miming "brushing" the drum with the sticks. Spector's reaction when they change to strings part way through is good though. He was actually good looking back then - unlike later in life where he had that wild crazy hair.

😒 Your so-called "bloopers" and goofs are mostly PENDANTIC and even when you're showing and explaining them...they are so totally unnoticeable and irrelevant that I wonder why you call them goofs... It's almost like a person whose correcting someone in a conversation by saying "You know you are not supposed to be saying TO-MAAAA-TOES.. you are supposed to pronounce it TO- MOT-TOES...
