Are we allowed to listen to Lea without crying? I know that I can not.

Lea Sonlonga does a great job playing Fantine. Difinantly one of the best performances. I will say that my favorite Fantine is Ruthie Henshaw. Her version of "I Dreamed a Dream," for me is unbeatable. Certain spots where she adds rasp to her voice for great effect. Also, when Ruthie and Lea's voices come together at the end of the 10th Annaversary is pure magic. Add in Colm Wilkinson's voice with them and perfection. Great reaction. Love Lea Solonga's voice.

Seeing Lea perform this live on Broadway made me "feel" this character for the first time ever. I never connected with Fantine before seeing her do it. Quite simply, she brings an emotional depth to the part that equals her unparalleled vocal talents. I cannot get enough of Lea (or Les Mis for that matter).

Keep in mind that there were 15 years between the time that she sang Eponine and the time that she sang Fontaine. So it makes sense that her voice had aged a little bit.

I absolutely ADORE this performance! The tone, her expressions, but especially her vocal control. Less skilled singers sing the chromatic notes of "shame" and it sounds pushed. Lea sings forcefully but evenly from note to note. Lea may mix more than some other singers, but that's why there isn't screeching! And I agree - you can listen to Lea without watching and get the full emotional impact of the performance as well as hearing beautiful singing.

A true dedicated performer. She has taken such great care of her voice that it has hardly changed, hardly aged. Really, a feat! And the diction, of course. Only few compare!

Once I sang a medley from Les Mis in a choir, and as a soprano I have trouble with the low notes in "as they tear our hope apart". Will try to follow your tips!

Auww... this makes me want to sing this song with my own (not opera style). Of course, I have to lower the key. You have said "Don't be scared" in your teaching video... so why not trying, right ? 😀
