I drive the Chinese version of BYD Sealion 7 in Europe. Why is BYD so successful?

I am living in Thailand, owning a BYD Dolphin and I am very impressed of the quality after 15 months (36,000 km). I already looked at the Sealion 7 and the interior looks extremely high quality.

To be fair to them, the menu did have a search bar to save you looking around randomly for the battery conditioning, if it exists at all

@wattenergy Have you verified if the Sealion's range checks out for real? The big question here, as seems to be with all other BYDs - and it's quite disappointing that this most important issue is not even marginally mentioned by most EV reviewers - is how accurate (or truthful) really is BYD's PROMISED / ADVERTISED range vs the ACTUAL range this or any of their other models will give you in actuality. So have you had a chance to test the Sealion models' ranges so far and verify BYD's claims? Have you compared the actual kilometers you drove with the "spent" kilometers displayed on the range display of your car in real time? Assuming that you, too, have noticed a considerable deviation between your Sealion's range display and the kilometers that your car ultimately delivered, how do you reconcile BYD's advertised ranges with your own experience..? I really wonder why this topic isn't discussed in more depth as this is surely BY FAR still the most important factor in the decision making process of buying an EV. I have more information on this. Your feedback is highly appreciated. Thanks.

I have driven the eu version in Norway 2 times on test drive. And waiting to get the car i bougt in indigo grey in the end of januar or start og februar. atm i belive the pre-heating of battery are only possible to start from the phone app for some reason.

It seems to me the touch screen is a real driving hazard. Need to be able to operate everything without looking at it. Touch screen needs to shut off when ever the car is in drive. In China the touch screens are causing a massive number of accidents.

In China, almost no one uses touch screens, they all use voice control. Please don't act like a clown.

@saahan-nn1fe sorry, my Chinese is not that good. So far I have not encountered any voice control that actually works. Besides what's the point of a large screen except to look at it and adjust stuff on it. Kind of like hands free phone. It's the distraction of the conversation that's the problem not now the phone is handled.

I have copied the chinese and am using voice control on my Dolphin in Thailand in English for everything that us allowed in the handbook. They all work and its a fantastic feature. People who can't adapt to technology will aways just complain like a dinosaur. Deal with it.

You would be making a big mistake in the purchase of this make. Quality, who knows. No track record. Dealer network? Parts availability? Warranty enforcement ? Crash test?

Parts and service can still be challenging in some countries with BYD, not necessarily in availability, but in times they can be delivered. Warranty as well, the car I tested was covered only by local distributor only. In EU they must have a eurowide warranty though. So, yes, unless you have a good dealer and service network in your country and the countries you use de travel to, this part may be still a challenge.
