I really like this thing! The pricing is reasonable for what you get, but the final verdict will have to wait until we finish some of our testing. To me, the range and charging curve are two things we have to figure out ASAP! Thanks for watching and more to come…

Ya MSRP doesn’t mean anything when they can’t control the dealerships marking these things up 10+ thousand dollars and that is why Tesla will always dominate. They control all the dealerships.

It is a self fulfilling prophecy. If you only build EVs for techies only techies will buy them. EV market share is ~6% in the USA? Build EVs with normal controls and more normal people will buy them.

You compare it to a Q8 or iX, but it's more a Q4 or iX3 competitor. And compared to those, interior ans overall quality is outstanding

Yeahhh I feel like he's being a little unfair on this and the regular GV70. He's talking about the plastic around the shift knob/volume knob area. I'll take that all day long over the tried and true piano black a lot of companies are just now finally getting away from, and to be honest it doesn't feel cheap or look cheap. This has no more or less plastic than it's competitors, so i don't know why he constantly knocks the GV70. It's actually a beautiful interior, and this might be subjective but I actually like the feel of the leather more than other nappa leathers I've been in.

Perceived luxury? This is absolutely real luxury and is just as nice, if not nicer, than equivalent german and Japanese competition. Obviously its not as nice as an S-Class or something of that caliber but calling this not real luxury is kinda hilarious

Got my GV70 electrified mid March in UK. I love it and it fits into the buyer market just as you say. For most it is super nice - not quite as nice as a equivalent spec’d German rivals but you really have to look. The performance and tech (for me) make up for it. Also the fact that no one knows what it is and it looks like an ICE vehicle is great! I can tell you that driving it in comfort mode ‘sensibly’ I get an average of 3.1 to 3.2KW per mile which in reality equates to around 235miles. This is mixed roads and traffic. Take it on the highway for a full charge run then this drops to about 3.0 at 70mm (no ac or heating just fan - driver only). So not a range monster but good enough for me with fast charging and 98% charging at home. So glad you reviewed this - love the channel and have been waiting to see your view on this car for ages! 😂

In Australia, the electrified GV70 is nearly double the price of the ICE version. No wonder Tesla is dominating EV sales the world over, it seems most other manufacturers want a massive premium for their EV drivetrains.

Yeah, no way I'd even consider these vehicles in Australia. AU$77k for the ICE version and AU$141k for the electric! Crazy!

65k version is well equipped subtract 3750 tax credit and 3 years free charging brings the GV70E down to mid 50's. Great SUV and so much better than Tesla Y other than the charging network. As an owner of an i4 m50 I am impressed.

The GV70 Electric is my favorite EV that I’ve driven from a value standpoint. You don’t miss out on much in the base $66k version. I did like the E-Tron I rented but as Kyle mentioned it’s $80-90k with options.

Genesis offers all kinds of interior colors and interesting color combos, this white interior is just one of the available options.

Not really for the electrified one. There's only 4 exterior color choices and each can only have white or black leather. Plus, the seats don't have the quilted stitching like the upper trim of the ice version. At least when you build one on their website, that's how it appears, but this one he has is quilted so not sure why the site doesn't show that.

Calling it garbage plastic is pretty extreme. It's nowhere near that. The quality, tolerances and fit & finish in the Genesis products are very good. Using your standards, that'd make the German VW ID.4 rotten spoiled rubbish. The Audi e-tron isn't that much better, especially for the money. Genesis actually does more things better than Audi with their e-tron.

Oily seats, plastic…, old man vibes. The styling of Genesis is no old man style . Seconds later the buttons and knobs are high quality. $125k Tesla model X doesn’t even come close to this cars fit and finish. The bias on this channel is off the charts. Your great about specs leave the design, styling and fit and finish to someone who dresses the part.

@@alisuleiman6622 I personally love the Old Man in Florida comment, are you f'ing kidding me? The GV70 (admittedly more so on the sport front end) has an aggressive look to it. I've never shown someone my GV70 and had them think it's an old mans car, especially when you add the black seats with suede inserts. Now yes, if you get the white interior it's more of a 'classy' interior, but if you get the black interior it's more of a sports car look. Same goes with their G70 sports sedan, the white interior has a more classy look to it. I really don't agree with their opinion on the interior at all. I'd love to see how an equivalent BMW or Audi is a luxury car on the inside vs this not being a luxury car. The only concession I can give is Mercedes, but they're literally known to be the most luxury car out of all of them. Lexus is out dated at this point and needs to get on their game.

I have a GV70 EV and a newer Audi Q7. As far as interior material quality is concerned I think it’s a tie. Kyle criticized the GV70 for the plastic surrounding the shifter and MMI knob, and guess what? It’s the same in the Q7. Also, my car has the black Nappa interior and I don’t find the seats to be greasy at all. I wonder if the white seats have a coating so that they don’t stain?

Impossible to find without markup right now, and still no wireless CarPlay/Android Auto at this price is a deal breaker. By 2nd or 3rd model year when those 2 things get sorted, this will be a compelling option

Kyle, when I looked at the GV60 and GV70, the buttons, toggles, and panels you say are plastic seemed to me to be made from an aluminum alloy. Why do you think they are plastic and not metal? Has Genesis confirmed your opinion about the "plastic" materials, or are they instead using a lightweight aluminum alloy?

Another great EV review! I recently installed a manual transfer switch to my house electrical panal. I use the V2L as a backup power source from ny GV60 for any residential power outages. 50,000 kWts usable!, take that Tesla power wall!

Home back up at 15 amps? Maybe you can power some lights and a microwave.. from my understand that’s all the eGMP V2L is capable of. It’s not like the Ford system which lets you use the CCS to push DC out to your home

10 circuit breakers during a power outage; refrigerator, LED lights in every room , ceiling fans in 2 rooms, 2 laptops, security system and cameras, 2 Garage door openers, electronic controls for a natural gas water heater, gas range, gas heater , wifi and modem, 2 LED TVs, bathroom vent fans. If these all ran at once , one fan will take me over the 15 amp level. We won't run all these items together during a power outage. In SoCal, we only barely need to run the AC, so that is a non issue for us.

I like the body design of this MUCH more than the GV60. (GV70 seems like it was designed to compete directly against Porsche Macan, which is a good target to aim for imo). Glad to see Hyundai/Genesis bring their A-Game; competition is a good thing for consumers :)

Ive got one and love it but will be moving out of it soon. I do charge level 2 at home but my daily commute including work, picking up wife and children is on average 160 miles per day and I'm really struggling with the poor range since those ultra fast chargers don't exist anywhere near my commute. I'll be looking at Tesla Model Y long range kind of sadly because of range and a huge supercharge station very close to my office if needed to top up.

Every-time I see this GV70e, it keep reminding me the Audi e-tron, it is just a bit smaller (Q5 size?) and charge a bit faster. It will be a car to get if I need to replace my e-tron.

Great video, thanks for sharing! I do think the better value somewhat luxury vehicle would be the Cadillac Lyriq. Longer range, larger interior, adequate charging speeds and SuperCruise. Also, it’s less expensive.

Me thinks Alyssa likes Airstreams! With Harmon International owning so many brands, the audio electronics tend to be very similar, just different tuning. Having had BMWs, I do prefer the iDrive style selector knob as opposed to the touch screen.

Reason why they say it’s the electrified GV 70 is because the gas model came out first And it also uses recyclable materials and Mike the gas model It was out in China before it came here a year and a half ago I think it would be great to do a comparison between this, and the Ix3. I love my family Santa Fe plug-in hybrid

The waiting time to have GV70-EV is about 6 to 8 months or even longer. The sales manager told me many people moved on to other EVs. He said to me that GV70-EV only has shiny chrome side window trim. The gas engine gets dark gray chrome window trim. That's too bad because the shiny chrome side window trim makes GV70 look cheap on Makalu Gray Matte exterior color.

I think I saw one on the freeway yesterday. It just looked weird, frumpy from the back. I was stumped for what it was and never got a look at the badge, convinced it was some one-off French deal or maybe a new Vinfast or Mullen or some BYD grey market car, but it had to be one of these. Those two rows of LEDs at the back are fugly, as is the arc of the hatch.

I vastly prefer USB-A ports (24:20) to USB-C ports. We have 10-15 years worth of USB-A input cords, and everything needs an expensive cord adaptor to get to USB-C.

I feel like I need a definition of what a luxury vehicle is from what he's talking about. Are we talking about S class luxury? Of course this won't be that nice. Are we talking about equivalent priced luxury cars? Because this definitely matches them or is nicer. Or maybe I'm just honestly not experiencing something that he is.

Dang, in Canada this thing is 85k, and only 58k for the gas version. After taxes that's a 30k difference. That buys a huge amount of gas and saves all the range headaches. It also won't qualify for any rebates here because it's well over the 70k price limit for rebates here. That's going to be a tough sell.

It's not a $30k difference when compared to the highest trim 3.5. $77.5k vs $84.15K. And frankly the EV version blows the 3.5 away.

+1. At $85k CAD this is well within spitting distance of the BMW iX eDrive50 and Audi Q8 55 e-tron, and those cars are significantly bigger battery & range, not to mention far more prestigious brands.

I was shopping the Q8 to replace my wife’s SQ5 and optioned the same as the GV70 the Q8 is $110k + $2k lux tax + whatever bs dealer charges they throw on top. The GV70 was $84150 + GST which is $30k less than the Audi when all is said and done. I don’t care about prestige, I care about the drive. And I prefer driving the Genesis.

It doesn't qualify for the federal credit as of the end of March when purchasing because they changed the requirements to be tighter then. The battery materials are now also needed to be not from China so it fails on that. It had met the $7500 credit from Jan to end of March but very few were produced in that timeframe. I read that if you lease this car, you can get the full $7500 credit though as there is a loophole in the law when leasing instead of purchasing.

This is probably a half-truth. The trip-planner feature is not functional in the Hyundai Ioniq 5, it’s implemented poorly in the Ioniq 6, but they do let you select an EV charger POI

Yeah I’ve never pulled more than a 183KW on my G80 EV on a EA 350KW charger and 132KW on a EA 150KW charger. I called my G80 EV old man interior (brown) as well! I’m also from Florida! That’s 😅

Hi.. I love watching your channel, but when did 70k become reasonable for a car? It would be nice to see you guys dedicate a channel to new cars under 40k for the average consumer. It’s great you guys can buy and drive 100k cars like it’s nothing but for a lot of us, that’s just not feasible.

Does Kyle ever meet an EV he doesn't like, particularly if its very expensive? More coverage of EV's on the lower end of the price spectrum, please, including those outside the US. I think the high end of the automotive market is sold on EV's. It's at the mid-price point level where a lot of work needs to be done. I have a BMW i4 which I'm very happy with. Averaging 4.1 miles per KWH. But as I think about the future, I want something closer to a Chevy Bolt, with better charging and range capabilities.

Dude, just do a bad weather range test. Look, I know you want to know the range in optimal conditions, but naysayers always complain about bad conditions. So why not start doing bad condition tests in addition to standard ones?

I agree so much. The front bumper is the best location for it and in this car it's hidden perfectly. I bet some customers really struggle to find it the first time they charge.

Not a fan of Genesis styling, but it's nice to have a mid-range luxurious option to differentiate from the rest of the market. Let's see the charging curve and efficiency of this thing!

Wow, another $70,000+ EV. It would be great to see more affordable options. Electric vehicles will not replace ICE vehicles until prices come way down.

Hey, somebody here gets it. I'm tired of seeing these super expensive EVs. Where's the $20k ICE equivalent of an EV? And don't say Bolt or Leaf, the Bolt is being discontinued.

This is a premium plus electric car, so of course the price is $70k plus.. There are plenty of cheaper electric cars available, many are manufactured in China and Europe. There aren't even any ICE SUVs under $25k that are huge sellers: The Chevy Trak/Ford Eco Sport? You get a cheap driving experience with those cars. If you want an inexpensive electric car, there is VW's iD.4, Chevy Bolt EUV, Mini e, pre owned BMW i3, Nissan Leaf.. These cars drive way better than a Trak or Eco Sport.

The electric car market is growing every year.. If you can't afford one or refuse to buy one, just continue to buy an ICE car, you have options, no one is forcing you to buy anything you don't desire.

The ID4 already exists and the equinox EV is coming soon. There aren’t any SUVs at $20k that you actually want to buy, but the ID4 is nicer than almost any fossil powered SUV at that same $30k price point

Unfortunately, I don't believe the GV70 Electrified Qualifies for the EV Tax Credit despite final assembly in the US. I am sure there is a lease program available to get around this.

This and the Genesis G80-EV seem like seriously underappreciated EVs. They're gorgeous inside & out, extremely well-priced for what they are, have the 800V batteries of the E-GMP cars, perform well, are built nicely, get reasonably good range (particularly the G80-EV), and don't have a theta engine to blow up!

I think I'd rather stick with a GV60. What I'm not keen on with Genesis is that, if you opt for a whitish interior, the steering wheel also has that color. Not a good idea.

Blows my mind they have false information on the media kits about the charging. Not even close to accurate! Best I got was 197kW

How about Tesla's over inflated range numbers? Blows all our minds. Also, the E-GMP 800v EVs charging curves slaps Teslas short curve where tesla can't even sustain a high charge rate. The GV70e, although not on the E-GMP, may still have a better charging curve than slow charging teslas.

My eGV70 is charging at 247 kW until 60%. Starting at 229 kW.

The issue is the Electrified GV70 cost $84k CAD. Compare that to the $59k XC40 Recharge, $64k Q4 e-tron and even the already expensive $69k Model Y.... Yeah completely noncompetitive in Canada.

Nice Hyundai Genesis. I still wonder if their quality has improved. I unfortunately purchased a Kia Sedona some years ago. Sold it quickly because many of the interior bits were failing and the paint was fading. My mom bought a Kia Sportage, which is still limping along, but already had multiple engine as well as paint issues after five years.

The stacked dual exhaust doesn’t look as good and the leveled exhaust but GV70é settles that debate. The light interior is the best of the two choices and the most popular. The $7,500 lease MSRP reduction solves the battery pack tax credit issue in 2023. The trunk button is on the wiper pivot point. I’d rather have my IONIQ 5 rear cabin space and save the money. Nice introduction video. 46:43

My coworker has a GV70 and this looks shorter than her ICE one. I know you’re 6 ft+ but it looks not as tall

Exterior dimensions are all the same. Are you speaking about the interior space and headroom? If so, it's the same as the Electrified G80 with the battery pack in the floor that raises the seats a bit. The G80 is a little worse since it's a sedan, but it's compromised in this some too.
