I love the fact that you have so many available options in Morrowind when it comes to spells. Like, this micro character arc could not happen today, because we no longer have the agency. Games are supposedly bigger and better than ever, but in the end most AAA games are rather limited in terms of possibilities.

@@ishimarumasaki1998 That's why I said most AAA, and BG3 is the exception that confirms the rule. BG3, while amazing, was also a severely limited game by Larian's standards, and anyone who's played Divinity 2 will know what I'm talking about. Video games are too commercialised, their developers hounded by upper management who were brought in to oversee the company once they "hit it big" by creating a lasting franchise, which is why the indie scene is thriving right now. We see this all the time, and we can look back and see how long it's been happening. Ocarina of Time was the first time Nintendo saw true success with a Legend of Zelda game - don't be fooled by statistics that say Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past sold 4.61 million copies as this figure misleadingly includes sales of the Gameboy Advance port, all the way up to 2004, 2 years after Wind Waker - Ocarina of Time had more than 500,000 preorders in the US alone, more than triple of any other video game, despite releasing only 38 days before the end of the year, it sold 3.42 million copies in those 38 days in the US and Japan alone, figures for EU sales do not seem to be public, but in the UK alone it sold more than 60,000 copies in it's first weekend and was the fastest selling game until Gran Turismo released in 2000. In it's life cycle, it sold more than 7 million copies worldwide. 8th best selling game in Japan, 5th best selling game in Europe, 1st best selling game in the US, 1st best selling game in the UK With this great commercial success, what did Nintendo do? Immediately demanded they make a sequel, and make it better, and faster, and also none of you are going home for the next 8 months. While Majora's Mask was a beautiful game, though not as critically loved as it's older brother, it was amazing in spite of a rushed development, that sort of thing can only go on for so long before developers get sloppy, because they are tired, overworked and underpaid and sick of being repeatedly told how to make a video game do by upper management types who can't name a single coding language.

@@GertrondeBaggins holy cope. BG3 is railroaded af and built on the most dumbed down dnd rule book edition (5e) on top of being only 12 lvls on top of not having bunch of spells on top of having half of the existing spells work not how they work in a rule book, like polymorph only turning enemies into sheeps and in pnp you can turn anyone into any animal. @@gordonlove5121 balance making games better was never my point tho. The game is objectively less balanced if some options far outweigh others in terms of efficiency/performance. I'd argue better balance gives more agency as a wider array of tools can be used to deal with whatever situation presents itself. On a side note, limitations breed creativity wether they are self imposed or enforced

12:10 how long does an item stay on the ground? if i remember its depending on the version. i want to say earlier versions items would stay on the ground until the game engine starts breaking, notably objects starts losing their collision, like the ground. current versions once enough items are in a cell eventually an overflow lootbag gets spawned and any new item dropped in the cell goes into it. (i know the lootbag gets spawned in interior cells, not sure about exterior ones though)
