You asked a question as to why your truck was always broken into. In this instance, unknowingly, you gave the thieves an excellent advantage. You parked next to the road, but the bushes covered the truck from view and provided the thieves a quick access to and from your truck. The truck is black, the bushes created a shadow, you were parked next to a van, giving the thieves even more concealment, not to mention the tinted windows. It doesn’t take but a second to break a window hit in the right place (the center is not it) and the sound of the glass breaking is muffled by the tint and the traffic next to the road. I’m a retired police officer. Try and park as close to the building entrance as possible. If a light in the parking lot is available, park as close to that light, preferably under it. Your Duramax is hard to see into and very clean. Meaning the thieves didn’t know what was in the truck. They checked the usual places, took your paperwork (think identity theft here). They were in and out of the truck in about 90 seconds - 2 minutes tops. Not your fault. If you were from outta town/state made your truck an even better target, hoping you had stuff readily available to steal. Thieves will be thieves, gives job security to the police and insurance companies. Sorry for the damage to your truck. Definitely a nice truck.

Yeah pretty bang on here with this comment. Bushes provide perfect cover and road noise covers the glass. Also in a city roadside is not really a deterrent, no one cares or is gonna say anything if they drive by and see someone breaking in. Small town maybe but not in a bigger city. I always call ahead and make sure I can park right by my room and I sleep with the window cracked open. The only one who is gonna lift a finger to protect your stuff is you.

Your first mistake was to park the truck in a poorly lit area. In the corner and under that tree provides a certain amount of seclusion for the friggin thieves. I always try to park where there is the maximum lighting levels and close to the windows of the hotel/motel. Sorry about the mishap dude.

There are many ways to get a social and there are other forms of identity theft aside from that. Someone could do a lot more than you realize with the information on your registration. I feel it man. My truck was broken into after the fuel pump failed 2 hours from home and I had to leave it on an off ramp overnight. Had the truck for 3 days before that happened. Luckily it was a rear window in a 2nd Gen Dodge so it was cheap. But they took almost nothing. I'm just glad they didn't get into the toolbox with hundreds of dollars worth of tools in it. You'll be finding glass for months. Safety plate glass is designed to break into millions of pieces when impacted. When the thieves pried on the window, the glass was at the maximum compression and popped into the vehicle. I had someone do the same thing to my black Suburban. I found glass everywhere. The only consolation prize was that the thief got a face full of glass, as there was blood on the door frame, and glass on the roof. I don't think they opened the door, just grabbed with they could through the window, as the alarm never went off. Welcome to big city life. The two things I'd have done different on the trailer would be, 7,000 lb Dexter axles, and get equalizer bars. My 8.5X24 trailer was 9 feet tall and caught all the wind while driving. When it was windy, the truck and trailer would change lanes. I was towing with a 3/4 ton 4X4 Suburban which weighed more than your Duramax.

Sorry about your truck. Never a good feeling. But Dude, calling 911 the first time, but a second time when they do not come after 20 minutes.....seriously? Have you ever thought about looking up the Non-emergency number or asking what it was? You had 20 minutes of just standing around, which by the way, is not a normal response time for most departments. The average is an hour or more because they are actually dealing with emergency calls or higher priority calls. Vehicles broken into rarely get dusted for prints anymore because it happens at such a high occurrence. All they are there for is to pretty much get the info for a report so you have something to file with your insurance company. Another thing......just a FYI......parking near the front at the street increases your chances of getting broken into. Why?? Because they have an easier exit if they get spooked and also so the if the police come, they do not get cornered in the parking lot.

They swapped the pump nozzles so you can put gas in your diesel so you gotta go to dealer and get a new fuel system installed if you didn't ruin your motor. Biggest trick in the book especially in small towns with a dealership nearby lol.

#itsjusta6 you must replace the vent covers on the roof cause they will dry rot quick. I put aluminum vent lids on my 8.5x24 trailer from Ebay. We drove to Duglas, Ga as well to get the trailer. Saved nearly $4k compared to what everyone in La, Ms and Tx was asking.
