@アマ-p2l7 жыл бұрын
ye. didn't see to many people using their indicators in the states. if you drive like that in my country, people will get out of your way, but you will be stopped for not keeping a safe distance. if you tailgate (the way he drove would be considered tailgating in germany, and what muricans would consider tailgating is harrassment here) people get out of your way, if they don't you flash the highbeam. don't need a copcar for that. and any newer grey/black bmw on the autobahn will make people drive more cautious because the undercover police here usually drives those.

venom5809 You are wrong since this was by NY/NJ. i drive almost 500 miles daily in NJ for my work and most of the time (yes MOST) people dont move over to the right and if you come close to them they get all bitchy and slow down even more. In this area unfortunately people are too stupid, its that simple.

I live in NJ and I have been all over the state with my white CVPI, never had an occasion where people don't move over. If you drive aggressively down the left lane, people will move. Back in the mid 2000s, I had bought a new car that was recalled several times. While the car was in the garage, I had a privilege to drive a dark blue, Chevy Impala. It looked like an unmarked cop car. If you gain speed on the streets in city traffic, the motorists move over. On the highway, it was the same scenario like yours. People would be spooked when I approached them in a quick manner. It was an awesome, hilarious experience.

It's called herd psychology. I drive a Nissan Versa. No one in their right mind would really think it could be a cop car right? Wrong. I work in food delivery. I make seveal short trips to deliver food. When I park at a customers place (usually on the street) I activate front and rear strobe lights to increase my visibility and not get hit. People can see the strobe light equipment in the car windows. Unless the strobes are activated, they don't know theyre not red/blue. So I will fake people out and times and come up behind them quickly, or maybe Im just minding my own business but frequently I get the same response, people will move over.
@joncooksey12 жыл бұрын
Sometimes the lights come in handy like when I pull over to the shoulder to reply to a text message, or sometimes I'll help a distressed motorist. I went overkill on the lights and the equipment is actually the same that police agencies use, its just that the lights are amber/white, not red/blue so are legal. They become and extension of the OEM hazard lighting. In fact one time a witnessed a car fire in progress. It's just that coincidentally I arrived on scene before the police. So. I pulled over to shoulder, dialed 911 and went stage 3 on my strobes. Got out to see if anyone needed help. Cops actually thanked me for doing that.

@gtaplayer50567 жыл бұрын
youtubasoarus not really
@STARZFAN317 жыл бұрын
Actually that is not true. Police vehicles are some of the best maintained and serviced vehicles you can get as far as used vehicles go. They have a strict maintenance schedule that is followed meaning oil changes, tune ups, filter changes, tire changes, alighments, etc. No citizen puts in as much time or money into maintaining their vehicles as these departments. The vehicles are usually sold because many departments have contacts with manufacturers like Ford and Dodge that allow them to replace their fleet vehicles once they are a couple of years old at a very good price so they sell off the older vehicles as they replace them with the new model year. Ive had friends who have purchased old crown vic service vehicles that had 190,000 miles on them and driven them into the 300,000 mile range. A vehicles lifespan is more a matter of how well it is maintained than it is mileage or age.
@KingLouis420th6 жыл бұрын
Crown Vic’s past police are some of the best safest cheapest vehicles around
@redtra2366 жыл бұрын
It's not that they haven't been maintained well it's the fact that they have so many miles. Most of them are probably going to need an engine rebuild in the near future and with so many miles they could have countless other issues. I can't say I wouldn't buy one but I wouldn't want it as a vehicle I needed to depend on.

@Ltdeathsquid7 жыл бұрын
You can have as much external stuff on it as you like. Antennas, push bar, lights, etc. Only thing with a light bar or similar is the leds or lens covers need to be amber and you can't use them on public roads. Similar with sirens. Totally legal to have installed, just not to use on the roads. Some of these things may differ from state to state, but this is how it is in the 2 states I've lived in.
@TheSurvivalDude7233 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can a have front push bar on just about any vehicle, same with the antennas as long as it domestic impede your vision of the road. You can even get some amber/white flashing lights if you really want to look like a cop. Amber/white lights are legal in almost all states except maybe the island ones I’m not sure of, you just can’t have lights on while moving with reason , however if there is like a disabled car in the middle of the road or a pile-up or something, you can use them while moving to warn other motorists.

Fascinating facts: On highways, traffic generally travels faster than the posted speed limit (illegal). The left lane is to be used for passing only - if you are not passing traffic it is illegal to be in the furthest left lane. So if everyone were to go the speed limit, the left lane would legally have to be left unused (wait what). And this in combination with absurdly conservative speed limits is the reason for the high ticket rates and a host of traffic issues.

Doesn't even look decommissioned. It's a Taurus police package. A lot of times what happens with these is that they get damaged coming off the train or being run through the shipping process. They get repaired but in the time it takes to do that, the department that ordered it gets another allocation usually, and the repaired car goes to auction never having any equipment installed. Alternatively a department may sit on the car and realize they don't need it (it costs them a lot to add all the equipment to the base vehicle), so it goes to auction. Lots of possibilities.

As a career law enforcement officer, I can tell you that not only do many of the left lane loafers still block you in a cop car, but many are so self-absorbed that they'll sit in front of you for a while EVEN WITH FULL LIGHTS AND SIRENS GOING.

While Crown Vics aren't used as much anymore, there are still plenty in service. I have a plain white '06 that still has the pushbar, spotlight, tinted windows, black grill, and 5 antennas. I get the same reactions on the freeway, everyone gets out of the way. With some, it's like they can't move over fast enough. People are absolutely more caucious and no one messes with you.

Add a luggage rack too. That would REALLY get people's attention, looks just like a modern light bar on the roof at first glance.

Picked up a 2010 CVPI for $300. Came fully loaded with their police equipment. Took off the decals and roof light bar. Keeping the cage and a majority of the equipment as it is useful for me at work. Best $300 I've ever spent.

What's the point of having "unmarked" cars that are visible quite easily
@Nick2107 жыл бұрын
danI43541 exactly that, its unmarked, not undercover you moron.
@danI435417 жыл бұрын
Don Pablo thanks... moron lol :D
@steelcurtain6567 жыл бұрын
danI43541 according to cops a lot of people don't see unmarked cars. I err on the side of caution and every time I see a white/black charger or Ford Explorer I assume it is a cop. Typically unmarked are used for traffic enforcement and true under covers are used for more serious stuff.
@danI435417 жыл бұрын
steelcurtain656 ok thanks! Yeah I'm not from the US and where I live we have simply "normal" police cars and undercover ones... the undercover ones are used for highway patrol but also more serious stuff as you said..

Drove a former NC SHP Crown Vic for a few years, one thing I noticed on the Interstate, the faster you go in the left lane the faster they move out of the way. It's like parting the red sea or something. One of the few things I miss about it :)
@FirearmTutorials7 жыл бұрын
I agree. The speed limits should be re-evaluated based on updated technology in modern cars.

Taurus's, Charger's, Explorer's, and Vics all have this effect with the right look. Thats why I drive a Charger with the spotlights and pushbar. Makes going down the left lane to pass slower cars much easier.
@Slim.Beautiful7 жыл бұрын
Everyone hates the person who drives that kind of car, but me it honestly if i had One i bet it would be awesome cuz they would move out the way and make them shit their pants ( for not following the law or speeding)
@thefitnesslife49886 жыл бұрын
Samantha Perez I wouldn't move, unless they have their lights on. If they aren't responding to a call then no need to move over. People so scared.
@magictrick88335 жыл бұрын
Here people do cruz in the left lane but majority of the time when they see someone come up behind them they move over to allow me or someone to pass.

I had a p71 Crown Vic. While it is convenient on the interstate, when you get on 2 lane roads with no passing and the car in front of you is scared to drive over the speed limit, it sucks.

I mean, that's the point in most cases. The 80 year old guy in the navy blue Grand Marquis won't move over to the right lane and they just camp in the left lane beside a semi truck going the same speed as them.
@gatesmw506 жыл бұрын
I too have done and experienced this with my friends crown Vic and IT IS FUN! . But my town has an unmarked Tahoe with no light bars, no PD logo/decals, no push bar & no cage. The only way I can tell it a PD vehicle is by the antennas and town government license plates.

They tested that speed limit idea, look it up. Something like 80% of people speed when it was set to 60 on the highway, versus 20% when it was 80. People drive the speed they feel safe at with traffic.
