I own a early production 99 C2 manual. The early production cars had the 993 vynl headliner and were more hand built on the 993 assembly line. This C4 is a great looking car but to bad it's a automatic. I would never consider an automatic 911

Nephrite green might be the best 996/986 interior color. I still remember seeing a Boxster in Bolonga with it and it was incredible to see in person on the road. Great video!

The 2nd Generation 996 is very beautiful. I like how they incorporated the Turbo headlights and front and rear bumpers to it. It looked so much more beautiful and purposeful. It is a classic.

I drive an Ocean blue 996.1 which is ok color in bright light but way too dark in dim light. I once ran across an Arena red 996.1 and it is a fantastic color for the 996. Maybe even the best color for exactly 996 organic form. I tend to think my all time favorite Porsche color is Amazon green which in my eyes is more blue than green but I think it is best on something like 964 - like the 964 Turbo in the Porsche museum. Ocean blue and even Amazon green are on the darkest third of tonalities and dark tones tend to hide form in most lights. The Arena red is mid tone or even slightly light tone and thus it really amplifies the form because it gives a large dynamic scale (shadows to light). I also like that it has a tiny tint of brown which make it really rare color and I bet it is a babe magnet color. The 996 of course is a wonderful 911 in between the old air cooled and (too) matured modern models. On the roads at least I don't need more power. Also IMO the 996 steering is the best of all 911s from the SWBs to 992. Of course the drive line reliability is not the best but it certainly is better than the forum exaggerated reputation. And finally, it is the most economic of 911s. You don't have to sell your kidney to buy one. With the price of, say 991.2 GT3 RS, you can get ten 996s. Is the 991 GT3 RS ten tmes better? Definitely not. Frankly it is just a little bit better in reality even if the numbers are much more impressive. The problem of the modern sports car is that they are already way too fast for road. You can actually enjoy the sensation of speed and performance with a lot less than what the modern 911s can offer. Which is more fun, often asked, to drive a slow car fast or a fast car slow? The 996 has enough performance for 99% of time. And then, what I find often almost comical is when you start to calculate how much of your mileage is done on a race track. Typically hardly more than 2% even with the active trackers. These cars collect typically 5000-10 000 km a year and a GT3 owner goes maybe three times a summer to race track to do 30 odd laps a session, say 3 km laps. Altogether that is 270 km a summer and part of those laps are in and out laps. It sounds cool but it is an expensive and rather irrational despite being fun hobby. We have also seen now that pretty much all 911s are depreciating at the moment but 996 is still almost constant price because it has always been under priced compared to other 911s. It has the highest smiles/miles/cost ratio of all 911s. It is a very rational sports car for someone who does not have a fat wallet.

I bought a brand new 996 back in 1999 (waiting list was about 18 months) It was a fantastic car in terms of handling, performance and user friendliness if you are 6 foot 3. It was a huge shift from the air cooled versions, but that was no bad thing IMHO

I’ve owned metallic red sports cars, and love the color in general. However, to me personally, it just falls flat on the 911. It’s actually probably my least favorite, and I say this as someone who owns orange, yellow and red cars. I love beautiful colorful cars, but give me anything other than metallic red on a 911.

It's an automatic transmission kills the experience of Porsche! The Manuel transmission in a Porsche is the best experience I have ever had in my life and I have driven everything Bugatti veyron rolls Royce Lamborghinis Ferraris Bentleys none of them come close downshifting going into a turn up shifting out of a turn and just staying in the power band ! The car is beautiful I love every Porsche the boxster is underrated the 928 is a car you can drive from Florida to Alaska and back and not be tired! I worked at Porsche in 2003 to 2009 the only reason any Porsche came in on a flat bed is because it was a race car .

Sorry dude. I've seen that 'minty' interior up close and it's horrible. As are the 996 headlights. The exterior colour suits the car. But beautiful? No, not really. The Germans are obsessed with bauhaus styling and less with beauty. Put a 911 next to a Maserati Granturismo and you'll see what I mean ;)
