As a former ring-driver i can tell you that lap was absolutely crazy. No matter if you have done 1000 laps on the sim. The real deal is different. Bumps, temperatures, traffic, oil, brakes, tires, etc. Many, many tiny things that could have end you up in the guardrails. Skill and a tiny bit of luck brought the porsche back in one piece. Well done. 😉

I’ve noticed a couple of times on tracks, Mat is actually a pretty quick driver. Not reckless or mad lad style quick. Anyone with nerve can do that. No, Mat has very quick reactions and crucially, he learns at high speed. I remember thinking that you don’t get to be as good at BMX as he evidently is (or was) without all those attributes: nerves, quick learning, high speed reflexes. With coaching, young Mr Armstrong would, I humbly guess, be quite competitive as a pilot. But we know all this, he’s a class act. What I particularly like is that Mat is never, ever arrogant and he remains of a positive, cheerful disposition at all times. Uncommon set of attributes. Nice one, Mat. I salute you 😊

Hi Mat, loved the video, but as a German I just had one huge ick.. What you did at 5:42 was incredibly dangerous. Never never ever stop on the shoulder for a non-emergency and especially walk around there unless your car absolutely does not move by itself anymore. The accidents stemming from distracted drivers and cars/people on the shoulder here are often some of the worst, so seeing you and your friends just walking around and talking there was unnerving to see. So please, don't do that in the future anymore. If your car does actually brake down, put on safety vests, put the emergency triangle a few hundred meters behind your car and ALWAYS! keep behind the railing.

I’ve been round the Ring a few times on 5 different visits in various cars and can honestly say it is one of my favourite places on the planet. The track is unbelievable and punishing for your car and body. I was sweating like a pig after coming off and the adrenaline rush was intense. Even the car parks there are a feast for the eyes and some great people from all over the world to chat to. I even had the pleasure of meeting Sabine Schmitz in the car park (RIP queen of the Ring). If you love cars like myself and your thinking about going, just do it, you won’t regret it. Walkie Talkie’s are a must for the journey if your going with a few mates and in my opinion Eindhoven is a good place to stop overnight on route. The coffee shops are worth a visit. 😜

Hey Mat, awesome video. Aaaaand: well done on the Nürburgring! :-) As I own a 991.1 GT3 since last november, I can tell you, that the way you love Porsche will definitely increase, when you drive this one. It is by far the most perfect car I've ever driven. And I just love it. A model in good condition costs around 145-150k (depending on mileage, servcing etc.) here in Germany. So if the engine and the gearbox are okay, I would give it a try with around 70-80k. If not: don't go for it! And if you buy it, you have to bring it back here and do a rideout on the Nürburgring with you fans! ;-) Good luck. Timo
@yellow73914 Жыл бұрын
My initial gut was also close, 65-75K. Re-watching it though, it would be a very risky bet without putting it on a lift first and checking the true extent of the damage. If the sellers aren't amenable to that, there's probably a reason for it and that would probably cap a "sensible" price at about 50K.

Very few people realise how much time it takes to do the editing get all your transitions done then to export and render and check it for mistakes then upload it to youtube which takes ages and that's assuming your footage is ok and none of your cards are corrupted your cameras were in focus and you had enough light and the lighting has not interfered with camera frame rate and caused banding, then is your audio loud enough and clear enough to be used, lol there is a bit more to it than just standing in front of the camera. To get it as polished as Mat does is a huge amount of work.

no underestimate the damage Mat, probably if the rear suspension is gone, the axle shaft could have caused damage to the differential, I think that for 90k € it's a good price for you and also for them, so they have already recovered the investment with the 'insurance.

U 💯 have to buy rebuild that race car mat!! It’s currently just taking up space at RSR and if you look into the price per day that car will have been making for track days I am sure it’s more than paid for itself by now 😉 Hence the reason why they haven’t rebuilt it it’s more than likely been settled on the Insurance and is now a paperweight to them. Taking into account uk prices for them cars are higher than Europe and it’s a right hand drive in left hand land it’s ideal for export and a really good idea if you can get it at a competitive price as all the plus sides are too your advantage, after all who wants a right hand drive damage repairable in Europe outside of the track event days 🤔👍😎
