I bought a cheap RWD sports car for $1500 then attempted to drive it to the Nurburgring. There wasn't many sports cars to choose from but i think i made the best choice but my friends disagreed. It was only later in the trip we saw disaster for the BMW's.

My first Miata was an NB miata. I now own an NA miata. Between the two, the NB is the better car. Even though miatas have gone up in price here in the states, they're still worth buying and I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a cheap, affordable sports car.

04:40 thats the PPF Frame not setup properly Mat. And that causes the differential not to line up perfectly with the gearbox, which then lets vibrations through the bolts of the gearbox, making this noise :) not harmfull, just annoying... Setting up the frame takes up maybe 15mins...

Mat, I'm a Canadian who greatly enjoys racing, automobiles, and other mechanical objects. I saw many hot rods, classic cars, and race cars. There was a man by the name of Carol Shelby, who was a Texan. He heard about a company in England that would soon need an engine in them because that four cylinder engine was coming in the end of its production. So he went to Chevrolet, which said to him that he wasn't going to be given engines from them. So he went Ford instead. They did send him engines. That first engine was 221 cubic inches, which was bored to the size of 260. That same engine was known as a small block. Why am I typing this to you? That was the first Cobra. Do you know what company it came from? It came from AC Cars over there in England. Did you know it was a secretary's car? Yes, it was. They continue building them. The reason I'm typing this is quite interesting. You should find a V8 engine to put it into that Miata. I know you'll be able to do that work.

To answer your MX5 questions: NB's are still kinda sought after (more than the NC but less than the NA). Especially because of the 1.8VVTi engine which was a Ford/Yamaha development (correct me if im wrong please). The NBs are the best to modify and came with the best spec options. Some had Heated seats/diff/air con. And the NB's are the best for autotesting/autosolos (yes, you should do an event). Visor delete: try having the visor there and you'll know why they removed it lol...its very much in the way.

I currently own an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, a fully built Porsche Boxster track car, and a TVR Chimaera. I’ve owned 3 MX5’s (2 NB’s and an NC) and would have another in a second. They are fantastic cars to learn to drive and work on given the front engine, rwd combination, ease of access and extremely cheap parts availability. Jfc even writing this means I’m feeling the need to jump onto eBay to see what’s available…

They handle like a dream! I hope you never have imobilizer issues. Can only use used parts. My 2003 spent a month at the dealer to have them tell me they couldn't fix it. Researched it myself for $300 and 20 minutes, up and running.

If you spin your hat around it has a sun visor peak on it which while not its intended use, is rather good at keeping the sun out of your eyes by positioning it just right. Comes in real handy when, I don't know, say the sun is on your eyes and the cars sun visor is missing.

Sorry Mat, the Ring isn't the place for clapped out sheds! Bad things happen there, including serious injury or worse. Plus you are liable for everyone elses property and injuries if it is your car that drops fluids. Your insurance is unlikely to cover it. This idea of buying cheap cars and going to straight to the ring is not something anyone should be encouraged to do.
