I just made this!! Cost me about $55 total because i didn't have any of the supplies. The lamp was $28. The salt chunks - $15. I used about 2 1/2 E6000 tubes for the whole project - $10 And yes, the hardest part was waiting for the sides to dry before turning it to work on the other side. Also, making sure all the little holes and spaces were covered. WHEEEEEW!!! In the end, it was SOOO worth it It looks absolutely beautiful!! Thank you @thediydesigner 😍😍😍😍

This is so beautiful! Not trying to find fault or anything but beware in humidity as pink salt will sweat like crazy
@z1ppora3 жыл бұрын
I agree. Looks really cool but I think it would sweat a lot particularly if you live in a humid climate like me. Also I'm wondering if the salt on the metal would end up causing it to rust. This could be made worse by the sweating. But still have to say it looks very pretty.
@Orly_Shani3 жыл бұрын
so interesting. Maybe it's because LA isn't very humid? I haven't had any issue. It's been in my room for a few months now. Ill keep an eye though and update the description if I notice anything.
@penelopefp3 жыл бұрын
@@Orly_Shani I was going to say, humidity isn't a problem here. We have a humidifier plumbed into our hvac system because we have so much wood in our home. We put effort into raising our humidity to 40%! My parents in the midwest however average 70%!
@missimagoodlady3 жыл бұрын
Probably best to varnish the metal and the completed lamp when you’re done to prevent humidity from affecting it! I live in humid, tropical Singapore and must varnish everything (including wood) so they don’t self destruct from the humidity 😃

Hi Orley! The rock salt has tendency to melt with heat. We have these salt souvenirs that melt in summers when there is humidity and temperatures rises to 40/45 Celsius.
@Orly_Shani3 жыл бұрын
thank you! a bunch of people have mentioned it but I have had ZERO experience with it. My lamp has been up for 2 months with no issue. It could be because of our dry weather in Los Angeles?? I dunno

Hi Orly! Great news! You can turn the top part of your lamp around. There is a nut on the bottom (it may be inside the felt lining on the bottom of the lamp). Once you rotate the body of the lamp, just tighten the nut again. I hope this helps. I love your energy and fearlessness! Keep the great ideas coming.... and thanks!
