Magneti Marelli parts, which are bound to die and for which there is no replacement. Watch the Wheeler Dealers UK Episode, in which Edd China restores a 3200 GT. That was in 2014 and he already struggled hard to find parts. Overengineered with no logic.

Pax.Ultimas Mercedes is trash? @@EpsilonBiatch No, its just a used Mercedes. Cars that are designed to kinda last about 5 years and then the repairs are more expensive than the monthly payments to buy or lease a new one. 10:31 This is honestly why I like older cars. Alluded to more at 11:02, a big problem I see with modern cars is that they have too much to go wrong. Sure, an older car is going to have a lot of broken stuff because it's old that a new car won't, but once a newer car becomes old you'll have all of the same mechanical issues but then a bunch of computer issues on top. I drive a silver first gen CR-V (Very much like the one Hoovie passes at 5:02) and while people keep saying I should get a new car, I honestly have no intentions to. I'm happy with the relative reliability and the ease of working on my old car. And even that has a computer completely in control of the engine and transmission.

@Hooviesgarage You do know that advertised HP (BHP - brake HP) numbers are done at the engine crank, right? Dyno testing numbers through the powertrain (WHP -Wheel HP) are easily down 10-20% of the BHP. Ergo, your E63 is still running strong & might be over spec BHP numbers still.

Re: the transmission leak in your Imperial. There is an anti-drainback valve in the Torqueflite that keeps fluid in the torque converter. With age, use and mileage, this valve becomes weak. When it gets weak, usually after sitting a day or two, you'll see the Crimson Scourge of ATF all over your garage floor. What happens is the valve lets go, fluid leaks out of the torque converter back into the pan - overfilling it. All this excess fluid either spills out one of the vents, or, more commonly - out the dipstick tube area. The best solution is to either rebuild the tranny or put a big pan under the car and top it up every drive.
