I thought the same thing, they just roll-tied her "grieving/healing period" for a tall man, who says sweet things.. not like he's a stalker. The Ex-husband could've easily been arrested for assaulting her mom, or for breaking and entering (multiple times), etc, etc. I don't know why they made that family seem so 'untouchable' easily could raid that trailer park unless they only got one cop for budget lol.

Right. It's not even that it doesn't happen in real life, but realistically I feel like she'd get more comfortable talking back, unless he's threatened her or her family with violence or something, otherwise it just doesn't make sense for her to take pain. Like again, her family has no history of abuse, so this isn't normalized. Her boyfriend didn't threaten her before they broke up nor has his family really besides maybe the mom, so I'm thinking, she cannot be that subservient just naturally.

Tyler Perry loves to display Black Trauma and while i get his reasoning might be to bring awareness in our community HE HAS TO STOP 😂. Like go make an action movie or something
@leonfrancis34183 ай бұрын
The reasonin has never been "awareness." It's the realization that the masses of this nation want to watch BIack trauma. From The Color Purple to Precious. If you want to make an award winning BIack film, no matter your color, show BIack people suffering and being the ones to inflict it to each other. That last part is especially important. Because it helps to clear up guilt, and make one feel not responsible. "Awareness" is the excuse given to as to why it's shoved in your face.

They don't work on someone who has been around this nation and seen it's absolute worst and best, and who knows the facts. The most teen births happen in the bible belt. The most out of wedlock children are birthed by those who claim to be the most god-fearing. Most children in this nation who are harmed by an adult are done so by one of the majority demographic. 89% of crimes experienced by that demographic have a perp that is that demographic. There are no movies about this. No films. No pale version of Tyler Perry is making countless films back to back about this truth that so Americans live. Tyler Perry has an obsession with female empowerment stories. At beginning of the movie the woman is getting abused, and by the end of the movie she’s whooped his ass or killed him. Half of the movies are repetitive as hell, though. It’s like the same story with different characters. It’s tiresome. I need him to do something different for once. This is one of the only reasons why I don’t watch Tyler Perry movies. I only watch Madea movies because they’re funny as hell. Other than that, if you’ve watched one or two of his movies, then you’ve watched them all.

tbh the context is legit just that her husband is an abusive ahole but she chose to stick with him p much the entire movie🤷🏾♀️ SPOILER they were together until it got too bad and her amazing friend showed her that she needed to drop him, and her parents reminded her what actual love was truly like. and her childhood crush also. essentially she finally understood her worth, plus her daddy went to off that man once he learned of the abuse, got beat up by his family, and she decided enough was enough and staged a way for the husband to return to her house so she could lawfully off him. what i mean is that she called him and riled him up so he'd show up, he broke in, and then she let him hit her some to justify her grabbing a gun, bc then it became self defense or whatever. that was the "shoot me!" scene😂😂 tdlr; he thought he was hot shit and she finally realized he was just shit and got rid of him for good. oh, and her friends are good people and her parents are too. the end💀
