@baobinqКүн бұрын
I read the book, didn’t read the ending though I just made it about 2/3 of the way. I’m gonna be honest, Lily Bloom Blossom, or whatever her name is, is a very dull character. Story wise, its an interesting concept and definitely a good eye opener on abusive relationships, but I can’t help but think that Colleen Hoover can’t write. I don’t even mind the fact that the names are a bit odd in a quirky sense, but just that I feel like everything was rushed and the way the conversations would flow felt pretty unnatural. I mean he literally went on his knees begging for s3x… if that isn’t the epitome of alien behavior, I don’t know what is. Any actress would’ve struggled to make Lily Bloom stand out on screen. But you’re right, Blake Lively was possibly the worst choice you could pick for Lily Bloom. Even if, as another commenter said, the source material wasn’t great.
@saturn1177Күн бұрын
@@baobinq I don't know about the fact "Colleen Hoover can't write" stuff for a reason in this book. You didn't read until the end, but in the end after the epilogue the authors explains the DA was based in Colleen experience as a child and seeing how he father was with mom and her. @serwaaray679 the book is just as bad if not even worse than the movie
@senpailina40185 күн бұрын
@@serwaaray679 After watching the movie adaptation of It Ends with Us, I have to admit it left me feeling a little disappointed, especially since I’ve read the book. While the movie isn’t bad, it misses a lot of the depth and emotional nuance that made the book so powerful. The book dives much deeper into the characters’ emotions, particularly around the theme of domestic violence. In the movie, the portrayal felt a bit shallow, and the impact of those crucial moments didn’t land as strongly as they did on the page. One thing that bothered me while watching was how, in the English version, the background noise often drowned out the dialogue. That made it harder to catch the subtle emotions in the characters' voices, which I felt were so important for understanding their struggles. In the book, you really get to empathize with Ryle (Justin) for a good portion of the story (like over 100 pages even after he hit her you think "Nah he will change"). It takes time to build that connection with him, which makes the moment when he becomes abusive hit you so much harder. It’s like 15 seconds can destroy everything, and the book captures that shock and devastation perfectly. I didn’t get that same feeling in the movie; it felt more rushed, like it didn’t give you enough time to process the gravity of the situation. The book also handles the themes of domestic violence in a more nuanced way. It doesn’t just ask the question, “Why did she stay?”-it also explores “Why did he hit her?” It forces you to think about both sides, not in a way that excuses the abuse, but in a way that makes you understand how complicated these situations can be. Leaving someone you love, even when you know it’s the right thing to do, is hard. The movie touched on this, but the book really made you feel it. So while the movie has its moments, I feel like it misses the emotional weight and depth that made the book so impactful.

Riiightt, definitely a story about love and growth, and not at all about DV.

I listened to the audiobook out of curiosity and it was actually better than I expected. Absolutely mediocre writing and fanfic-like at times but the writer manages to make you step into Lily’s shoes and see Ryle’s charming and charismatic side so that you understand how hard it is for her to leave him behind at the end. The film seems ten times less moving though; Lily being aged up does a disservice to the story since her sense of youth and lack of life experience was essential to her character. I think they should have chosen actors that had really intense chemistry because that’s what makes Ryle and Lily’s dynamic impactful - the fact that they have this undeniable connection.

Here's my conspiracy theory : After whole train wreck with Blake, I do genuinely think, during acting out this movie Justin was thinking out loud" I need to get the f*ck outta here b4 mah brain fried any more".😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

7:19 Exactly, why's she smiling? This scene was so POWERFUL in the book. I couldn't wait to watch it, but damn the disappointment I felt. The delivery was so bad, it wasn't giving what is was supposed to give. Blake didn't do this role justice at all.

This movie is so flat. The bts drama was actually more interesting.

i watched blake's movie 'The Shallows' a while ago and it was honestly very good, not to mention the fact that she was honestly impressive in her acting in that particular movie. i think the reason her acting seems so bad is that the majority of the roles shes done are pretty 'casual', or dont require any excessive effort on her own part to truly act emotionally or, at all. bc of this, she's gotten comfortable in these kinds of castings and doesn't really put any effort into her own performance bc of the ego/ease shes developed through performing easy roles.

I'm sorry but those lip bites are just annoying. Reminds of Bella from twilight 😭😭 pls i can't be the only one who finds them this way.

I'm not age shaming Blake but she's very old for playing lili's role, even those actors who played the childhood Lili and Atlas looked old 🤷🏻♀️

Them aging the characters up to make them like pushing 40 made all of the scenes and circumstances 10 times more awkward, embarrassing, and just plain not make sense.
