@@relyengaming ah that makes so much sense! As I continued watching the video I was blown away by how your heavy frame factory ended up looking. Incredible stuff truly! Currently I'm playing with 2 other lads, we've just agreed to stray away from the nightmare of a setup we started with, now our builds are kinda large, and I want to decorate them and make them look good but damn is that kinda detail hard in a big build. Any tips? Also I definitely do want to learn how you did them stairs.
@relyengaming Жыл бұрын
@@Emenblade My biggest tip for decorating is just doing 1 or 2 things different on every build. If you try to go nuts it will take forever (although if you absolutely enjoy it, go for it). But if you play around with 1 or 2 things on every build, you'll slowly build a decorating toolkit in your mind, just like the one you have for building factories. I should definitely do a video for the stairs, but it's basically a similar snapping trick with beams. Just build a frame floor, place a horizontal beam on it 1m from center. Then snap another frame. Rinse and repeat. Then you can snap foundations to the side of the frames and you have your stairs.

How do you make the water balance perfect all the time? The only way I felt sure it was working correctly was to feed a bit too much water, and package then unpackage the byproduct water, sinking any overflow. Yes this wasted the containers, but I could guarantee my system would never be short or overful.
@relyengaming2 жыл бұрын
In this case, it's a pretty small setup. I went through it on stream, although I was kind of inaccurate in my explanation, however it still worked (lucky for me!) So, I just had enough water coming in from the extractor to make up for what the recycled water didn't cover. So, the extractor + recycled water are exactly what is needed by the alumina solution refineries. The water from the extractor came from below and the recycled water I elevated to come from above (incorrectly assuming gravity priority). I think it just worked out for me because the numbers were exact, and the join method I used wasn't a blocking method (more below). This wasn't a perfect solution for managing water priority. A better solution would be to use a "Variable Input Priority" piping setup from McGalleon's guide, thus you can prioritize the recycled water coming from the refineries. Sinking your recycled water is a common solution as well, you could also use the "Wet Concrete" alternative recipe. Which allows you to make concrete in a refinery, using water, and sink that. On a larger setup, I'd definitely do it differently than I did in this instance. However, many hours later, this little setup is still running fine. My save is available on my Discord (link in description) if you wanted to download it and take a look. I'm also available for questions there (as well as some other quite helpful folks) and can actually respond with some screenshots for reference :)

That’s a fairly normal experience. I’ve rebuilt lots of things so many times. The key is just to keep pushing forward. That said, there is an enormous amount of iron available. So don’t be afraid to have multiple factories.

@relyengaming2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Shiznitts! I appreciate it immensely. Most of the time I have maybe a little idea of what I want. It might be a small structural idea or maybe just a single type of decoration I want to try out. From there, it's really a lot of just playing around. It certainly gets easier over time as you get some more design tools in your toolbox.
