I Engineered an Automated Farming & Meal Prep Factory - Hydroneer

Welcome back to Hydroneer. In today's episode of Hydroneer, I begin adding another layer of automation to my farm and factory by utilizing logic & magnets. Evidently, there is ALOT of Iron in Hydroneer vegetables which means I no longer have to harvest any of my crops, everything is automated and all I have to do is plant the seeds and watch the vegetables come in. You don’t need the magnets on top of the plants. If you add the magnets to the sides of the crops and place a conveyer below that (in the ground) you should be able to use the harvester.

It was really funny a while ago when I was talking to one of the devs on a stream I asked what the f is wrong with the vegetables to the point that they are magnetic. To which the dev merely responded with "Video game magic"

Drae you could replace the pipe a the end of the convayer by an elbow pipe so that the cork is on the side of the convayer instead.

Thats what I was thinking too, except with adding a downward sloping conveyor as well. Before that though, the only reason to go up was to go over the harvester/planter, that moves btw, that isn't being used.....

Filter conveyor belts act as a 50/50 splitter if there is no item on the filter tray. You could have everything in one line that gets split at processing.

Why not just bury the conveyor so you don't need magnets above the plants? If you bury the conveyor, you can can pull the vegetables directly. This way you can replant using the harvestor, saving you a ton of time, not to mention more sunlight.

Drea, have the magnets pull the vegetables from the side first. Then you can magnet them up onto a conveyor belt. BOOM FULL AUTOMATION

It isn't about getting them up onto a conveyor (you could always bury a conveyor anyway). It's getting them out of the ground cleanly (corn wouldn't be an issue, but carrots and onions probably stick 80% of the time)

You could probably sink the conveyor belt one block down then remove the top magnet s completely as the side magnets should be able to pull them out of the ground then you could drive the harvester through solving your planting problem

I found that if you put dirt onto a pipe using shovel, then place a plot on the dirt and add a conveyor to the pipe, you can put your crops directly onto conveyor's and completely skip the magnets. You can even clean up the excess dirt using a rake without destroying the plots.

You will still need magnets for crops like Tomatoes. I found that putting up-facing magnets directly underneath those conveyors pulls the crops down onto them! EDIT: Apparently doesn't work on tall crops like Corn. Honestly, if you're going to have to cut down the crops yourself, you might as well not even bother with auto-harvesting. Use this trick to plant crops right on top of the conveyors, then cut down the fully-grown plants. The crops will drop down onto the conveyors.

I haven't played in a long time, but couldn't you make the last pipe at the top of the conveyor mountain a 90 degree turn so the cork is off to the side and out of the way?

If you could pull them horizontally directly from where the crop is in the then you could pull them out of the way of where the harvester is going to go over and use the magnets on the conveyor belts to feed the system. The only options to this would involve either 1: a perfectly level conveyor to the ground or below the ground so the horizontal magnet pulls them onto it, or 2: have 3 magnets pull 1 or 2 crops per tile (horizontal, vertical, horizontal again to put it onto the conveyor.)

Drae, you're missing a key part of the automation that you probably didn't realize. Crop plants don't create new crops after an initial harvest. They grow one harvest and then you have to cut them down and replant them. The harvester can generally do all of that all at once so your automation is only taking care of 2 aspects of the process, harvesting and transport. I've found out that if you use the basket to dump the seeds in to the back of the harvester as a large mass of seed bags then you can fit more than enough seeds into the back of the harvester. But it's all up to you. Just remember you will need to cut down the expended plants so you can then replant them. They won't rot away or disappear or anything. You have to manually do that. That being said, if Max built a planter/cultivator vehicle, that'd be cool. having to spade each plant plot is annoying and slow.

drae. instead of funnel use a magnet with a switcher to pull off the cork. if they get stuck there do like a 1 second on 10 second off kind of logic. cheerz love the content

Idea - lower the sides then there is no need for the top magnets Solution - where they drop and get stuck change the pipe to the right-angle ones then the cork will be underneath

You can fix the kork problem by using a bow pipe instead of the straight. the bow goes down and you put the kork in.:)

I've been watching some other youtubers play this and I'm pretty sure you don't need to replant the plant over and over, they all should just grow a new crop after a little while. they may have cut out the parts where they replant but you should still try it
