I do shit like this all day, and everyone in the house hates it. Thats one thing you learn the hard way- behind every good guitarist is a family whos sick of hearing guitar playing. I like it tho. Fun to play, fun to watch and listen; you sir are fun to watch and listen to.

@loganross27842 жыл бұрын
Even if you're as clean as him, they're a good thing to have. If you have a tight setup with a live amp that's close to the pickups, the stray sounds from other strings vibrating can increase your feedback, especially with high effects like compression and reverb. I only got one recently, but just wrapping a sock around the taint of the strings made a world of difference. Hope this helps :)

Speed is not equal to talent. Making something truly musical is talent. Shredding is not musical. Non Guitarists won't care if you can shred. They will probably go "turn that distorted crap off its making my ears bleed."
@singleproppilot2 жыл бұрын
@@gavinw5469 Absolutely 100 percent true, but it would be fun to be able to play like this. The truth is that I avoided most lead playing most of those years. I have just always enjoyed playing rhythm, so I don’t put much effort in to soloing.
@gavinw54692 жыл бұрын
@@singleproppilot you want to know the best way to get faster? Learn the Major modes. That would be c Ionian, D Dorian, E phrygian, F lydian, G mixolydian, A aeolian, and B locrian. Look up those and to simplify things, make sure the first note of F lydian is on the 1st fret, the first note of g mixolydian on the 3rd, first note of a aeolian on the 5th fret, first note of b locrian on the 7th fret, first note of c ionian on the 8th fret, First note of d Dorian on the 10th fret, and finally E phrygian on the 12th fret. Remember, these cycle in order. If a song was in the c ionian mode, it would go c,d,e,f,g,a,b,c in that order. If it was e phrygian, it would go e,f,g,a,b,c,d,e.When you are in a mode, you can play any of those shapes, think of it like pentatonic shapes. It's just important you end on the note what mode it's in. If it's in c, the resolution will be on c. Do the same shape over and over to build speed. I would start on F lydian because you need to stretch the farthest. Good luck! Also, remember, finger placement is critical. If you want, I can comment the finger positions of each shape to make it easier. If I can do it, surely you can. I have only played for a year and have only practiced this for 2 weeks and already have several shapes down. Also with only practicing for 2 weeks, I have noticed a great increase in speed. I can pick faster and smoother, and can also transition my fingers fret to fret faster. The fretboard is so much easier to navigate.
@gavinw54692 жыл бұрын
Also learning hysteria by muse is a good way to get faster. That's how I got good at alternating picking. It will take a while to get it down, but once you do it makes everything so much easier.
@Harmonic142 жыл бұрын
@@gavinw5469 while that's ok general advice, that won't really help you build speed. You need to practice with a metronome for building speed.

You have a lot of cool patterns and licks. You should put out a book of them. Have the tabs and sheet music for them and maybe diagrams and some tips on finger positions, picking, approaches to improv, gear setups, etc. And I bet you would make a nice chunk of change off of it. I would buy one.
