LeBron gives us many reasons to dislike (not hate) him: 1. He claimed he was the G.O.A.T. after winning his 3rd ring in Cleveland even though it was Kyrie that won it for them 2. He's arrogant (for the reason above) and he doesn't act like a Leader except when it suits his best interests. 3. Always accepts the credit when he wins but never the blame for when he loses. 4. Seems more concerned about Stat Padding moreso than winning, just look at the Scoring Record Game....they lost but he seemed only concerned with breaking the record. Even AD confirmed this with his last comment. 5. Instead of sticking it out with a team for his career he only wants to go and team up with other Superstars to win rings and pad his Stats. I've been fortunate enough to watch Jordan as a youngster and to the question on "who would you select to take the final shot in clutch situation?" My top three are: 1. Michael Jordan 2. Then I started watching some videos of his career and started to realize that Shaq helped carry them, but so did kobe, arguably just as much even when he was really young. The two he won after Shaq left cemented him in the top 5 at least. I honestly have lebron outside the top 10. His attitude alone pays him below 5 or 6 other guys that ask have more titles and they never colluded to create super teams. They worked with what they had to climb the mountain. Just like Jordan did. Without hesitation I would take a healthy 38 year old Jordan over a healthy 33 year old lebron. Michael was able to put up 50 multiple times at age 40 with two bad knees and people were still playing defense at that time. Maybe if lebron stayed in Cleveland until Kylie got there, then they won 2 or 3 titles, that would have meant more than all the finals trips lebron got carried to. The 6 blowout losses in the finals take so much away I don't get how people pretend those don't matter.

I love that you are open about your reactions. The truth of the matter is that LeBron is racking up accumulative stats but MJ retired twice in his prime. If MJ didn’t retire, this wouldn’t even be relevant. He would’ve easily had at least 8 championships in a row and his numbers would be absolutely insane. Lebron for his career is only shooting 37% outside of 3 feet and in the playoffs that goes down to 31%. This shows he has a big weakness in his game and that's in the midrange where Jordan was the best in history. If you combine this fact with Jordan being SIGNIFICANTLY better defensively and also the massive failures in the finals that Lebron has (particularly against Dallas where he collapsed and was outscored by Jason Terry) that Jordan didn't have at all since he was 6-0 it really isn't much of a contest.

I think the problem most have with Lebron is that his “crown” was given before he accomplished anything. He also was a self anointed goat which just erks a lot of people. It was unearned and then he didn’t follow it up through the years. He still anoints himself as if he’s earned that title. He’s a great player but he hasn’t earned that. Let’s put it like this…I would hold Lebron James in high esteem if he really had that “killer instinct” about him. There were games Lebron played where it seemed like he wanted none of the smoke; he didn’t thrive off the pressure. Other than watching Michael Jordan hitting buzzer beaters, it was just amazing the concentration you had to have at the free throw line when you were playing an away game and the crowd is screaming and waving props to get you to miss. Jordan had a mental toughness that Lebron lacks. It’s like…Lebron is relying too much on his talent and strength to get him through instead of taking it to the next level. Lebron just seems more concerned with racking up accolades than going out on the court to take souls.

When LBJ went to Miami to start a superteam. A lot of fans started to dislike him. It only got worse from that point. He once pretty much called fans bums, he started to make excuses for losing . There are a few things the video does not touch on as well. Granted, the video was made before the pandemic year but let's list out what the video forgets to mention: Jordan: - had an ankle injury his second year and does not play until the end of the season, ONLY PLAYING 18 GAMES (sorry for the CAPS). - when Jordan came back from his first retirement, he ONLY PLAYED 17 GAMES for that season. - in essence, Jordan actually only played for the Bulls for 11-1/2 seasons. And Jordan still put up more points scored, more championship titles, more MVPs, etc, than James did in his first 12 seasons. - Jordan retired 3 times (1993, 1998, and 2003), missing 4 full seasons. Can James do that? - Jordan has the highest vertical at 48" in NBA history. Can James do that? - the "eye test" also doesn't point out how graceful and beautiful Jordan's mechanics and moves as a basketball player. Watching Jordan in slow motion is a beautiful thing to watch, especially his dunks (in game and during the dunk contests). James is a lumbering train wreck, and his dunks are "sloppy" (albeit, somehow his shots do go in). - Watching Jordan play is like watching a ballet where each ballerina is choreographed and in synch to an orchestra. - Watching James play is like watching 2 rhinoceros' getting busy under a tarp. James: - his 4th championship was during the pandemic season when the NBA did not play a full season (only 72 games (average), but not full season). Some teams did not return after the suspension and some players didn't play. James' 4th championship will always have an ASTERISK next to that. - his "flopping" is annoying and pitiful. Jordan never flopped in front of referees to draw cheap fouls. - left Cleveland to chase titles instead of doing it with one team by developing them. Jordan didn't come out of his second retirement to chase titles with the Wizards. So, keep the above in mind. James is still a great player and has a great career. Just not up to par with Jordan. I would argue that Dr suess isn't a fair h comparison. He wrote with a specific challenge, and worked within a specific set of creative confines. To write a simple book with a fleshed out story using under 50 different words to help kids learn to read. His writing is an elegant solution to that challenge. Dr suess is a far better writer than you are giving him credit for by comparing him to lebron James as a basketball player. I would say a better comparison for a writer might be... L. Ron Hubbard. Big and flashy, but lacking substance.

Casual BB fan here (white guy who much prefers the college game). MJ was way more exciting to watch, and in college he was clearly the best player in the NCAA for two years. If they had similar builds, MJ could play like Lebron but I don't know that a smaller Lebron could play MJ's game. But it was a different game then. I went to Michigan State when Magic was there and the Magic-Bird matchup in the 1979 championship game was one of the best ever. Magic, Bird and Jordan have to be among the top ten NBA players ever.

Alexandr Karelin is probably the greatest GOAT. But I think this is a much more interesting debate to have. Although kind of tough comparing different sports. My personal pick is John Brzenk, the greatest armwrestler of all time won his first world championship in the 80s and now at 58 years old, is still top 10 in the world in his weight class.

That stat that won me over was after getting swept out of a 3 game playoff series, Jordan never let his team lose 3 in a row again. 6 chips with the Bulls and throughout his time with the Wizards. This was my favorite stat before this year, but getting swept out of the playoffs didn't help. If Jordan had the technology and knowledge to keep his body in peak condition for longer, I would be interested to see what his career would have looked like.

See, I think there is a discussion to be had here... But not in the goat debate per se. I think anyone can have a favorite player, and support that player to their dying breath. Got nothing against that. But favorite player does not always mean best player, and that is where a lot of people get upset. Because they want their favorite player to BE the best player, even when statistics show they are not. For example: I like Titanfall 2. I think it's a super fun game. I like a particular weapon in that game. It's a terrible gun to use as a primary weapon, but I love using it all the same. I usually get shredded, but I will defend using that gun over better weapons simply because it's fun for me to use. The same thing is applicable to people's favorite players. Nobody has the right to say you can't like a player more or less then someone thinks you should, but liking them best doesn't mean they are the best player. It means you like them better. Whether for their play style, or for their attitude, or their personality, or any reason at all. That's a personal thing, and that's totally ok.

I started watching basketball during the Bulls second 3-peat. I have kept up with sport since then and its really hard to even compare the two. Jordan was truly remarkable and just a different breed of human to watch. Players feared him and praised him all across the board. Lebron is an awesome player but he doesnt get the same reaction. Hes going to go down in history as a great player but he needs to do so much more in order to even catch Jordan in achievements in the longer span of time hes taking. Its not going to happen. Its going to be nearly impossible for anyone to top what Jordan has done.

I understand where you are coming from, about Lebron still going great. I think you have to look at it closer though. I've watched a lot of Lebron that last number of years, most of his points like in the past come in the paint. The level of difficulty for those points are low a lot of the time. The defender or multiple either step out of the way, semi-put there hands up in contest, or are too small in weight or height or both to offer any good contest. What ever those defenders' reasons are for doing so is irrelevant to me because the fact remains the same, and it that level of defense is low. This year Lebron has been shooting a career worse from 3 making only 30-31%, while avg 7 attempts from there a game. Then on the defensive end Lebron has been very passive and lazy. Most would reply to that saying something like, "You expect Lebron to do everything, if he puts less effort on offense who is going to score." What I would say to that is that as a leader and top 5 all-time great you are a role model to your team. If you show little care on defense your teammates will too, and it will demoralize them when you're barely giving effort to get back on defense. Combine all that with Lebron's impact on winning has become a near shell of what it was when in his prime.

I hated the Bulls lol but there was just nothing you could do to stop MJ. He was a killer. He's pretty much Kobe on steroids. It's not about hating on LeBron. It's that with each generation, it's easy for past players to get a little forgotten and current players to get a little too elevated. Love LeBron, by all means. James is an all-time great. Obviously. And if he is your top guy of all time, it's all good. But some of us who been watching a lot more decades, and remember seeing dudes like Dr. J and Pistol Pete, we saw Jordan as one of the few athletes that his opponents often looked afraid or in awe of him. And the only other athlete I ever remember seeing that with was peak Mike Tyson. I personally do hate comparing different eras tho. I think there are generally best players in specific eras of sports and imho it's impossible to compare them realistically. Sometimes you just have to appreciate greatness and not worry over comparing it.

I had the same thought. The opinion of one's peers says the most. MJ's competitors were in fear of or in awe of him. The same isn't true of LBJ. Other players respect him as a player and for his career, but they aren't in awe of him. There are so many MJ stories from other players.

The thing about LeBron is that I don't feel like he has tried that hard for a long time. He looked awesome at Miami until the playoffs against SA and Dallas. His game was super efficient. As his career has gone on and there is less defense played than ever it seems that he should even be more dominate, but he isn't. It's like he has been on autopilot since then. I would expect him to mature his game and become more complete, but as this video shows he hasn't done that like MJ, O'Neal, Kobe, or Akeem did. He isn't fundamentally sound and doesn't bring his A game night in and night out to play for the fans. I thought he would be more loyal to Cleveland and work to build a team around him and do what MJ did in Chicago, two teams that hadn't had a winner in the NBA. I feel that he hasn't played up to his potential which would make him the GOAT if he did. Calling himself the GOAT after beating the best team only one out of four times makes it impossible for most of us to take him seriously. Watching today's game is boring unless it's Curry or Durant for me. Curry works his butt off and Durant makes it look so damn easy ever since he was at Texas. GOATS don't do Load Management and cheat the fans by sitting out when not hurt. These are the reasons that he isn't even in my top three. Wasted potential!

LBJ is a great player. And to be Playing for 20+ years is a incredible thing if you’re WINNING 🏆along the way. But the more years he plays with no titles.It just makes MJ,Kobe and Kareem careers look more IMPRESSIVE. 4:30 you don't think in this era.. MJ would have just as many opportunities to score from 0-3 feet? while still shooting from outside to make getting to the paint that much more easier? Look at what he went thru during his era.. and compare to the spacing now.. this is why I say its easier to compare players in the past to this era.. with todays attainment of skills, training regiments, healing and recover and shooting training as well. so that more players are more accurate enough to take more 3 points shots that he doesn't affect the game too much.. look at Kawhi when he was with The Spurs or Raptors.. most of his game was inside.. but he took some more threes in the game to keep them close for the final mins.

Most people don’t roc with LeBron because of his lack of self identity on the court. He’s wearing other legends numbers since day 1 either 23 or 6 in reference to MJ or Dr. J. I think if he could rewind his career and begin his first game with a original number not worn by some of the most memorable players he might earn more respect by this sports spectators. Picture him in jersey number 5 for his career. It’s unique. After that small detail his game lacks original creation. His most dominant move is his drive baseline to bounce it off the back board using his body as a shield for the two handed layup. But everything else is just him mimicking Jordan with a fader or just a jump shot. His side arm tomahawk is original but he should have marketed that on his shoe…..like the Shaq logo, the Ken Griffey logo, or the Jordan logo. All and all he’s in a era where he looks like a comparison to MJ but really in MJ’s era LeBron measures up more like a James Worthy type style player. He’s aight!😎
